Not a joke, in my view Timothy, but perhaps an act indicating some desperation about the apparent direction of the future of the globe. We must address the terrorist threat, we must address the distribution of wealth, we must address climate change, we must address over-population, …. The awarding of this honor to Obama is really an award to our United States, recognizing that only our global leadership can be the basis for changing for the better, for all mankind.

So no, to me it is not a joke, it is a compliment, it is a call to action, before it is too late to act!

The awarding of this Peace Prize is an insult to America. It makes a joke of our nation and of peace. Of course I am a little bit ticked off by it.

Okay, I replaced other Americans with some Americans.

I did think the President handled the situation with dignity. I have no beef with him. I do laugh at the Nobel Prize Committee. The left wing legislature out did themselves. At least this one was a harmless one, Unlike the Arafat award.

Timothy: "If the world can credit the Presidents first 2 weeks in office with bringing peace to the world ...." You do realize, Timothy, that Obama was nominated then, but about nine months of deliberations occurred in order to make a final decision, during which time Obama has made his mark. David: "I think we can officially call the Nobel Peace Prize a joke." And David, your first link is improperly labeled by you, because it deals with some Americans being puzzled. And your second link deals only with an op/ed, not with a news report of world reaction. For one thing, it is premature for anyone yet to determine "world reaction". This award has really thrown you Conservatives into an angry loop, around and around, seeking to find a way to downplay the significance. Let's wait a few days so we can contemplate the importance of this award and come to a conclusion, instead of letting our knees jerk. A joke? If that is true, then why are you Conservatives making such a fuss over it. You should merely ignore the "joke". Please be truthful!

Sorry to say, I feel the only reason he was award this gift was because he was the first African-American President which broke the final political barriers in American politics. Certianly something to be proud of. But the dream of Dr. King is a long way from victory.

I think we can officially call the Nobel Peace Prize a joke. The mere dream of a nuclear free world is now equal to the actual work of bringing peace. Some Americans are just as puzzled.
