Why do Democrats Play Politics with Unemployment?
Jul 22nd, 2010 by David Anderson
Democrats pushed through the latest gambit to extend unemployment benefits. I have no objections to the extension, but I do object to a 34 billion dollar bill costing around 83.4 billion and 50 billion in new taxes. Democrats use the unemployed like a human shield to push through spending and pork that would not make it on its own. When are the Democrats going to promote policies which allow growth in the economy and businesses to add jobs? If you oppose their bill, you hate the unemployed and want them to suffer. If you favor their bill, you are imposing new taxes which will keep them suffering. Where are Coons and Carney explaining a new way? They just favor the same broken policies and same old political games.

They ‘play politics’ with unemployment because they have a compliant ‘mainstream’ media to act as cheerleaders and distort reality. That’s why.
I have no objections to the extension
Maybe that is your reason. But a number of Republicans in Congress are on record objecting to the benefits themselves, on the loony theory that they keep people from looking for work.
When are the Democrats going to promote policies which allow growth in the economy and businesses to add jobs?
Some of it has already been done. When are Republicans going to stop filibustering the pro-growth policies and amending away the most useful bits?
Republicans are not the arbiters of what is “pro growth.” The economy historically does better under Democratic policies than Republican.
What would Republicans know about policies that promote growth? Republicans are the architects of the Great Recession and the contraction of the middle class.
Republicans have zero credibility to lecture Democrats on pro-growth policies.
If you oppose their bill, you hate the unemployed and want them to suffer.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
If you favor their bill, you are imposing new taxes which will keep them suffering.
