Breaking: Burris acknowledges trying to fundraise for gov.
“It was the first time Burris has publicly admitted trying to raise money for Blagojevich. Previously Burris has left the impression that he always balked at the issue of raising money for the governor because of his interest in the Senate appointment.”
State Rep. Jack Franks (D-Marengo) however called on Burris to immediately step down, and contacted U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s office to ask that an ethics investigation be launched against Burris.
“The last person who welcomed investigations and inquiries the way Roland Burris is doing now was the man who appointed him, Rod Blagojevich,” Franks said. “He said there was nothing but sunshine, nothing to worry about. Look what happened there.”
Glad the Dems cleaned up Washington.
Easy, John. Dems tried everything to stop Burris. Remember the day he spoke with the press out in the rain because Dems refused to seat him? No way this appointment was ever going to pass the smell test. I hope he gets sent packing – asap!

I know, the GOP was in a win/win with that one.
However, it still speaks to the pool of folks running Chicago politics…and that’s a scary thought when the man in the WH was so close to it all. Let’s hope they clean the mess up quickly.
Show me a politician who hasn’t been close to slime. It’s unavoidable, even for the good ones, but there is a difference between being close to slime and being slime.

They have to grab onto something, Pandora, even if it is a pittle compared to the scandals we are discovering practically on a daily basis on Wall Street. Wonder why John does not highlight these as well?
Hey John, he’s not from Chicago any more, he’s from Hawaii! At least that’s what the WH press guy said when he was asked about the thermostat in the Oval Office being turned up all the way. Never mind that a week before Obama was busting DC’s chops for having a snow day after a light dusting. It’s like Joe Biden deciding he’s the scrappy kid from Scranton, PA again when it helped get votes. All things to all people, depending on who’s in the room.

On this topic, I thought it was about Dave Burris raising money for Bill Lee. He did, didn’t he.
On the other Burris, let us wait until the whole story comes out before jumping the gun on the guy. That said, so far it is not looking too good for him!

I bet Burris will be cleared. It doesn’t seem like anything is there. He was cut off and later decided to amend his statement. The idea that a 70 something gentleman remembered something later doesn’t strike me as perjury.
The fact that he voluntarily disclosed this information speaks well for him.
