Trouble Brewing?
Dec 2nd, 2009 by David Anderson
Democrats have a real problem. In Rasmussen Polling released Tuesday, only 42% say their representative deserves election. 42% say no way. I have seen Congressional approval ratings that were low for decades, but people tend to approve of their own representative. This number in part explains a 28% swing in Blanche Lincoln’s approval as well as similar numbers for Harry Ried, and other members of Congress. When incumbents fall under 50%, they are vulnerable. What happens when the entire Congress falls under 50%. The generic ballot number for Democrats among likely voters is 37%. I do not have a Master’s in public policy, but I think that would be a troubling trend. It is hard to imagine a scenario where Democrats do not have significant loses. The question is will it be a wipeout? I could see that turn around. Especially if U-6 remains over 10% in 30 or more states. Right now the total unemployment number is 17.4% and is projected to rise not fall.
The depth of the discontent is clear with 71% being angry at the government. Republicans lead in trust on almost every issue. Democrats have a two point lead on education and tie on social security. The majority opposes the Democrat’s health care bill.

Republicans lead in trust on almost every issue…
Now, if they could only lead; or, at least find a leader.
