The UN Assault on Free Speech
Nov 2nd, 2009 by David Anderson
Islam has contributed a great deal to the world, but freedom of speech is not one of those contributions. Would that statement be banned under the UN treaty being considered? Why are Clinton and Obama betraying us to the hardline Muslims? The U. S. is rejecting the UN resolution on religious defamation. That sounds good, but then they worked with the Tyrannical dictatorship in a compromise. I will let Mr. Thomas Mitchell explain the concerns of freedom lovers around the world.
Michael Posner — the assistant U.S. secretary of state for human rights, democracy and labor — worked with Egypt to draft compromise language for the U.N. resolution that condemns religion-oriented harassment and discrimination, making a fragile distinction from defamation.
That compromise language “expresses its concern that incidents of racial and religious intolerance, discrimination and related violence, as well as of negative racial and religious stereotyping of religions and racial groups continue to rise around the world, and condemns, in this context, any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence …”
“What might constitute incitement? Speech?”, Mr. Mitchell added. I wonder why people leave those countries to come here? Is it because they love the restrictions? Once again the administration is undervaluing our freedoms. There is no compromise that is desirable. The administration cares more about the feelings of tyrants than the heritage of American freedom. If they can’t even stand up here, what chance do we have with our security?
I do not defame people’s religion. I respect the search for our Creator from whatever perspective. We are all searching for truth. Some people do not respect that. They can be challenged with words not for force. The other problem is that you prevent the ability of those who are serious about faith from preventing the usurpation of religion by those who wish to use it for ungodly means. The point of freedom of speech is safeguarding speech people do not want to hear. We need to tell our senators that we will accept no compromise of our rights and we will not consent to shackling the world.

What might constitute incitement? A cartoon depicting Mohammed, that’s what!
Islam isn’t merely a ‘religion’…it is also a political and legal system, and the Koran instructs that this system must be imposed on others. This is an important distinction.
