The Rise of the Right
Jun 8th, 2009 by David Anderson
Now that Europe has continued a right ward move with Conservative racing ahead in parliamentary elections, we should move to the right to keep up. Don’t we want to be more like Europe?
Americans are moving right on moral issues according to a new survey. C-Span had a forum a Progress for America thinkers trying to find ways to blunt the resurgence of conservatism. A pro-life Republican is ahead by double digits in New Jersey and another is ahead double digits against all comers in Virginia. There seems to be a world wide movement from Israel to Britain to Spain to Nigeria to Mexico. It is coming back in America, if Republicans stick to conservative their principles and develop real answers then they will benefit.

“..if Republicans stick to their principles and develop real answers then they will benefit.”
What are ‘Republican’ principles? If they stick to conservative principles, they will benefit.
Fair enough.
“The Rise of the Right” — What does that mean?
Sounds like some kind of a religious revival!
Oh yes, I know David. The Right is good, the Left is evil, per Rush/Fox & Co. Good yardstick!
Are you on the Right ever going to get over this nonsense?
Instead of labels focus on policy, please?
Please don’t tell me that a “pro-life” candidate is ahead by double digits somewhere, because that has no meaning to anyone outside of the faith except to further alienate. You folks continue to ignore the message that you have been sent.
And by the way, so-called “pro-life” is a personal decision and really has no place in politics.
People used to tell abolitionists that if you don’t like slavery, don’t own one. That is not acceptable when it comes to taking some one’s life. Religious revival–I never heard one referred to that way.
I am puzzled that you ask what it means especially with a straight forward story attached. I hope this doesn’t come off weird. It means the there is a rising tide in many nations favoring what Americans (North and South), Europeans, and Israelis would recognize as the political right. It is not judgment of good and bad. Some of the parties benefiting are great. Some are down right repulsive and even scary.
I first wrote about this global trend two years ago. Like Greece currently, the American right had damaged itself politically. The underlying trend is pushing a comeback. I am not sure the Republican party will fully take advantage of that in the next 4 years. It could. That is to be seen.
Perry, let’s not forget the insane abolitionist John Brown, and his radical Christian operative, Abraham Lincoln.
