The People Are Smarter Than the Ruling Party Thinks

It is almost like the people are reading the audits and CBO analysis of the health bills. They are getting it according to a new Rasmussen poll.
If the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats passes, 57% of voters nationwide believe it will raise the cost of health care, and 53% believe the quality of care will get worse. That’s part of the reason that just 45% support the plan. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 51% are opposed to it.

The Socialist-Democrats know that socialized medicine is a flop, but it does add more people to the dependency on government catagory. The left figures that the more people they add to the already over 50% that pay no taxes, the better for them. Call it the anti-American plan. Pathetic.
Everyone pays taxes my friend. You are right that half of the people no longer pay any significant income tax. If I had my way there would be no income tax and we would eliminate 40% of government.

Why not just pay people enough so more of them fall into taxable brackets?
See, when you are complaining about how many people don’t pay taxes, you are really joining the left in pointing out the unequal distribution of income. That is the real problem.

Reagan took his best shot and was only able to cut 11% of non-defense spending. He tried really hard to cut spending – remember “ketchup is a vegetable?”
Even so he had to raise taxes back again. Do you really think you could outdo Reagan ?
I would be happy with a 1% cut right now instead of huge expansions.
I believe in devolution. Most of the programs should be block granted. I would love to see the Department of Energy eliminated and the NRC be folded in under an new department of commerce, labor, and agriculture. The NEA would go. NEH would be privatized and be eligible for block grant participation. Veterans affairs would have its undersecretary in defense. Education would go back to HHS. NCLB and all of these non disability based programs would go into block grants. Amtrack would be privatized into a coop eligible to receive transportation grants if the states see fit. Air traffic control would be privatized. EPA would be focused on real pollution not economic destruction and global warming. The endangered species act would go. At least 1000 programs would be targeted for block grants or elimination. WIC would go, it duplicates food stamps. DEA would be block granted to the states. BATF would go.
Unlike Reagan, I would veto half of the 11 appropriations bills and say the constitution gives no justification for these programs.
