A Thought Regarding Our Budget Crisis »

The PC Mafia

Jun 12th, 2009 by David Anderson

I am frightened by the attempts of the PC Crowd to delegitimize political speech, which is not to their liking. Dissent is the oil which lubricates our republic. Without it we seize up and cease to operate as free society. Just last year radical speech was the sign of true patriotism. The surest way to empower the extremists is to clear the field for them by shutting up those who desire to effect political change the right way.

It is not like we have to look far to see that America won’t fall apart by tolerating dissent. Remember when an eight year old threatened to kill President Bush on the website Worldstar Hip Hop,or the numerous real assassination threats. All of the anti-Bush rhetoric was and is par for the course. The vitriol bordered on hatred or worse.

Remember the patriotic Keith Olbermann’s rant “Mr. Bush, at long last, has it not dawned on you that the America you have now created, includes “‘cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives?’ They are those in, or formerly in, your employ, who may yet be charged some day with war crimes.” In a rant on 9/11 he said Bush committed a”crime against” 9/11 victims for not accomplishing the construction of a memorial at Ground Zero, and had accused Bush of the “impeachable offense” of “lying by implication” regarding the Iraq War. Our enemies used quotes from the Daily Kos and Keith Olbermann types to justify their attacks on Americans and our allies. Did it raise concern at NBC? It got him a 7.5 million dollar salary and a new contract. I wonder where is the pay czar for flailing media organizations. Such talk is extreme but part of our tradition.

When John Voight pushes back against the Newsweek editor’s blasphemous declaration that “Obama is like G-D” and above America, he is decried. If your supporters can find divine attributes then your detractors can call you a false prophet. Why the double standard?

Even though it is President Obama’s supporters who blast Israel, NBC types and their lemming bloggers are now trying to blame right wingers for the Holocaust museum shooting. It is President Obama’s former Pastor who is upset with the Jewish chief of staff who won’t pass messages didn’t limit his frustration to Emmanuel. It was the Jews won’t let him talk to me. Like the Jews had a meeting. Now blaming him would be stupid. One had nothing to do with the other. My point is that blaming conservatives who have Jewish people in leadership and are the biggest supporters of Israel is beyond belief. I thought we were controlled by Peril, Crystal, Wolfowitz, Abrams, and the Jewish Neo-Cons (along with those other guys, Rumsfeld and Cheney). Now we are responsible for the Neo-Nazi wackos in only 6 months. That doesn’t even pass the sanity test.

If you criticize Sotomayor, then you are a racist opposed to women and Latinos. If you called Alberto Gonzales a killer and a criminal, then you are a patriot. Which party was the first party to be headed by a Latino?

Republicans want America to fail and have no policies for health care, the economy and energy, they say.
The truth is the Democrats are afraid to even write a health care bill. The only major party party to have a health bill is the GOP. You may or may not like the Colburn-Ryan bill, but unlike the Democrats they have a bill. The GOP stimulus bill cost less and was scored to create over 6 million jobs. Republican energy policy is supported by a super majority of the people and would get us on track ASAP.

All of a sudden the views of a super majority of the people on marriage are condemned as bigotry. Traditional Marriage has always been between man and woman. Anything else is fringe policy.

Since they have been losing the debate on the ruthless killing of 45 million babies, they are trying to focus on the lawless killing of the worst of the worst abortionists (which is rejected by every pro-life organization). The focus on his death has been completely out of proportion to other killings at the same time (10 times the coverage of Pvt. Long’s murder). Even more grizzly, it has been completely politicized. Before the man was even cold, his death was being used as a shameless propaganda tool.

What do all of these have in common? There is a PC mafia which is trying to shut down any discussion and demonize its opponents. They called President Bush a murderous traitor. They call Cheney a war criminal. They accuse America of being a torture nation. They call free enterprise advocates attending a tea party, militia extremists. They call non-violent journalists and pro-lifers evil enablers of murder, yet they have no issue with the violence authorized by the high court. They produce a movie fantasizing about assassination of then President Bush. They can’t even stand a beauty pageant contestant giving a point of view different than their own. They are trying to make Arbitron change its rating system because the new system which actually measures radio listening shows talk radio more popular than thought.

I strongly believe that most thinking Americans, on all sides reject violence as a means to a political end. Like Delaware Dem and the folks at Delaware Liberal, I (We) condemn violence on all sides. The brilliance of the American system is that we express our disagreements vigorously, but the campaigns we wage are those of ballots not bullets. I believe the best way to keep it that way is reject those who want to opt out of our system and destroy it.  We accomplish that with more speech not less speech.   I fear that by hypocritically trying to stifle the otherside, the PC mafia is threatening to destroy our system in the name of saving it.

As the Left has always understood, we are in a war- a culture war with political manifestations. Some day, Republicans will figure that out; most observant conservatives, myself included, have known all along. This is why I have been predicting either a major civil conflict, or the secession of several states, for about forty years.

Given the power, they will put us in a camp.

According to the Left, incendiary speech breeds hate-murderers. If that’s true, I’m sure glad I don’t live anywhere need BO’s old church.

Make that near his old church….

“Barack is run by the Jews….God Damn America!”

Civility and comity have always been essential elements of our political discourse.

Yet we have always had our fringe types and their conspiracy theories. The Tsarist forgery known as “The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion” has been believed by some gullible fools for over a century. There was a belief that (conservative) Democrat Al Smith was going to build a tunnel from Washington to the Vatican if elected. Others believed that FDR did nothing to prevent the attack on Pearl Harbor. Now the nut cases on the Left have their ’9-11 Goofers’.

There is a cultural struggle going on but it is no monolithic conspiracy but a confluence of independent forces.

Now it is deemed hateful to wish that efforts to incrementally impose the flawed system of socialism will fail. Ideally, this failure will be the result of the collective wisdom of our National Legislature. Regrettably, too many members are political careerists who place their perpetual spot at the public trough above the success of a bold experiment in human freedom that was launched over 230 years ago.

There should be fewer angry words and more true ones. Sometimes words of truth may not be deemed to be politically correct and not meet with the approval of the mob.

    E pur si muove.

“There should be fewer angry words and more true ones.

Didn’t you know that the true meaning of words is malleable? The current language structure was designed to maintain the heterosexual male hegemonic order. Ask any sociology, linguistics or political science professor.

Well said guys. I agree that we would be better off with real discourse.

Then why do you refer to fetus’s as babies, David? Use your dictionary.

Re culture wars, the Repub culture is a solid minority. Read this by Conservative radio talk host and columnist John Batchelor.

“The Republican Party has become many bad things—intolerant, inert, fly-blown, incoherent, and delusional—but the worst is that the GOP is no longer young. The GOP, according to a Gallup poll, has lost, forgotten, ignored, just generally scared off the younger voters, non-white voters, and female voters in all demographics.

What is a political party that is vastly white, middle-aged, male, Southern, pious, conservative, aggrieved, impotent, nostalgic, rude—and regarded negatively by more than half the respondents? Time magazine’s Republican political consultant Mike Murphy looks at the demographics and warns of a coming “ice age” for the party. That is grossly optimistic. No longer in second place, the voter self-identification polls place the Republicans well behind the leading independents and the second-place Democrats. The GOP is the equivalent of a shrinking third party on its way to becoming a museum piece beside the Whigs, the Greenbacks, and the Prohibitionists. The GOP is like a zombie cartoon reading the daily headlines of the last four years and asking, “Am I dead?””

Doesn’t quite sound like the story you attempt to weave, David!
