The Nobel Peace Bribe

Okay, so let me get this straight… just 12 days after our new President took office, a committee of international peace seekers nominated him for his international peace accomplishments. Just days into his Presidency? It’s highly unlikely that they nominated him on the merits of his predecessor, so I am a bit confused about which accomplishments as a community organizer qualified him for this award. Did they nominate him on speculation because they just knew he’d do something great? Hmm, perhaps. So let’s take a look at what he’s done to achieve world peace during the first few months of his Presidency.
Last spring, within weeks of Iran bragging they have a nuclear missile with America’s name on it, Obama slashed our nation’s own missile defense spending. I suppose rendering America defenseless against a crazed dictator could achieve world peace if you don’t mind the world being run by dictators.
When Iran escalated their deadly threats against Israel, a long standing American ally, the Obama administration all but publicly scolded Israel for announcing they would take pre-emtive measures to protect themselves. Again, I’m confused. How does telling an ally they shouldn’t protect themselves against unprovoked threats achieve world peace?
Claiming it’s too expensive, Obama denied funding for the F-22 fighter jet, a jet said to have the most up to date equipment in stealth technology. He says don’t need to buy the best for our military. The old technology will do. Whether the F-22 really is the best is the issue. It’s Obama’s reason for denying the funding that I have a problem with. Imagine if the Phillies coach said the team didn’t need the best equipment available. Last year’s equipment will do, right? Sure, Philly fans would go for that. There’d be no riots outside of Citizen park. Afterall, like Obama denying spending on the F22, the coach is only thinking about cost.
If Obama is so concerned about cutting costs and international peace, why did he waste millions of tax-payer dollars to fly overseas to meet with the Olympic Committee the same week the so-called peace talks with Iran were taking place? Perhaps it helps Ahmadinejad’s peace, but it doesn’t help America’s peace … or budget.
Yet once again Obama announced another international trip so he can accept the Nobel Peace Prize in person. Well, on who’s dime? Will he apply the $1.4 million peace prize money towards his travel costs? Or do you and I get to pay for that, too?
In the past few months, the Obama Administration has cut our missile defense spending in the midst of a pending nuclear war, turned its back on Israel in her own fight against Iran, denied access the best equipment for our military, but takes regular jaunts overseas for great photo-ops.
Some international leaders may think this brings us closer to world peace, but it does nothing to address the issues we’re facing back home. It does nothing to keep us safe on our own soil. It does nothing to protect our own national interests and it certainly does nothing to bring back (non-government) jobs for the millions of Americans who are out of work.
Perhaps after centuries of America’s Superpower status, weakened, broke and defenseless is exactly where certain world leaders want us to be. If so, then the award does go to President Obama.
But let’s get one thing straight. It’s not the Nobel Peace Prize that Obama’s receiving. It’s the Nobel Peace Bribe.

This post is full of misinformation, falsehoods, hyperbolic exageration, paranoia, and huge amounts of anger, at what Christine? At a Noble Peace Prize?
This award has obviously caused you to hit bottom, so you struggle now.
Instead of the anger, have you allowed yourself to sit and contemplate the significance of this award, to put it into perspective, and then to comment. I don’t think so, as your outburst here demonstrates very well.
Your post demonstrates very well that you are in favor of American hegemony, American militarism, and American unilateralism. I don’t think you realize the damage to America that has been wrought against us, and will get worse, unless we change. I believe that this approach to the globe is unsustainable, because there is not way that we can combat the threat of terrorists and insurgents unless we get help by forming alliances. I think Obama understands this. The old way is not working, as in Viet Nam, as in Iraq, as in Afghanistan.
This Noble Peace Prize is a recognition that President Obama represents a change in tone that is appreciated by many, as the global response to it indicates, because it holds out promise for a better future for all. That is what Obama represents, in my view.
Although I am not really that surprised at your reactions, because I can imagine how I would feel if Bush got this same honor, nevertheless I am hopeful that upon further quiet reflection you might come to understand the thinking of those who made this decision.
Hopefully, you might also come to realize that Obama currently represents America to the globe. This award then represents the fact that the Nobel Peace Prize committee continues to look to this country as exceptional, to look at this country as a crucial force to nurture peace and friendly relations, even among people who have been our traditional enemies. All Americans should feel honored for this continued recognition of American exceptionalism that has been eroded in recent years, in my view, but is being revived to new heights and depths.
Obama represents a change in tone and attitude that is greatly appreciated worldwide by those who support this recognition. He has extended his hand in peace and humanity. That is his accomplishment, as I see it.
[...] really is a classic. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell lambasts the President for getting the award because …. wait for it…. the President should be more belligerent and desirous of war. [...]
Perry the wingnut.
I found the truth: ACORN has infiltrated the Nobel committee.
I think this is well worth sharing with Christine O’Donnell and others of her ilk: “The Republican party is filled with draft dodgers and cowards. Both Bush sons avoided military service. So did Cheney and Karl Rove. So did Rush and Michael Savage. So did Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Republican Conference Chairman Jon Kyl, Senate Republican Conference Vice Chair John Cornyn, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair John Ensign, did not serve. House Minority Leader John Boehner, House Minority Whip Roy Blunt, House Republican Conference Chair Adam Putnam, House Republican Policy Committee Thaddeus McCotter, National Republican Congressional Committee Chair Tom Cole, all did not serve.”

Please draw any conclusion(s) that you may wish.
Many naive people still wonder how Hitler came to power. You need only observe the mindless fealty of today’s Socialist-Democrats and their sycophants in the ‘mainstream’ media to see precisely how he did it. It is a form of propaganda-induced psychosis, perfected by Third Reich operatives, utilizing the new technologies of radio, film and the loudspeaker, and today enhanced by television.
Goebbels and Himmler would be proud of their new heirs- the Socialist-Democrat Party. Do you people have you no shame?
Rick, you are obviously not able to distinguish between opinion and propaganda.
I should have said: …between opinion, propaganda, and fact.
it’s hillarious to see Perry the DNC Shill talk about propaganda…
I think it is an insult to all people who serve in the guard or reserve to say that service in those components is not service. GWB did serve a lot more than his critics.
Rush did sign up but was rejected for medical reasons so was Pat Buchanun. The military has its standards and no one changes them.
Cheney just did not want to go, but he used legitimate deferments and did not dodge it. It is a choice for many people. I do not disrespect anyone who chooses not to serve in the Armed Forces. It takes a special commitment. That is why we take time to honor people who make it. Honestly, I would love a day to honor our Police , other law enforcement, and Fire fighters as well.
BO rings the bell, you come running like Pavlov’s dogs. Just like Hitler did it. That is not propaganda- it is fact.
