One of the hottest and most important races in Delaware is in full gear, with Republican Candidate, Chris Weeks’ ground troops campaigning door to door for Delaware’s Fourteenth Representative District Seat.
Weeks is challenging incumbent Peter Schwartzkopf, the House Majority Leader for the privilege of representing the people of the fourteenth district. No matter where you live in Delaware, the results of this race will affect you.
Chris has been married to his wife Lauri for 17 years and has three children. “I’ve been an employee all my life and have been held accountable for my actions. As an elected representative of the fourteenth district, I expect to be held accountable for my actions. With me, it’s all about serving my constituency,” said Weeks.
Weeks stated that, much like retiring Representative George Carey, he probably wouldn’t sponsor a lot of legislation and doesn’t ever want to think of himself as a legislator but wants to be thought of as a representative.
“The people of Delaware, and especially the fourteenth district need a breath of fresh air when it comes to representation,” said Weeks. “I’m ready to debate my opponent Pete Schwartzkopf, anytime or anyplace.”
“Far too many politicians want to be quarterbacks. I see the job as being the lineman, clearing the way for working people to do what they need to do. Representatives need to be just that, the representatives of the people. This seat in the state legislature is not Pete Schwartzkopf’s seat, it’s not my seat, it’s the people’s seat.,” said Weeks.
Speaking about jobs, Weeks stated that the engine that drives jobs in the fourteenth district is tourism. He stated that a multitude of businesses in the district are driven by the tourism industry and those businesses hire many people. Weeks said that many legislators have a limited view of the tourism industry. “They need to have a larger oversight of the importance of the tourism industry to our district and not drive the tourist to other locations by legislating heavy taxes and fees.
Statewide, Weeks believes that there is not a magic bullet to rebuild the job market in Delaware but instead, America needs to regain its manufacturing capability to create jobs.
Weeks is one of many professional class Americans that never wanted to become a politician. He doesn’t consider himself a politician but instead a concerned citizen who wants to serve the people of the fourteenth district and Delaware in making competent decisions for the people of his district.
This new class of candidates is not only showing up in Delaware but can be found in many states throughout the US. They are concerned citizens that are working class people not professional politicians but instead they are people who love America and want to help their fellow Americans.

I keep getting complaints from people that this guy is spamming all of GOP Delaware with his “newsletter.” Is anyone else getting this thing, and did anyone ask for it?
If you do not want it, I would suggest hitting the instant unsubscribe button. Why would people come to you to complain? The author of this piece is so well known in the GOP community that anyone can get a hold of him. He is not some “guy”.
I welcome it. It is concise and well written. Better yet not too frequent. I am sure we will add a few more people to the list.
Any thing about the substance?
This race is the most important race this cycle. Many people say Pete is a nice guy and I have never met him in person to say different, but having some inside knowledge of how the Legislature conducted business last session, I can tell you that this guy is power hungry and he uses union boss type thuggery to get things he wants. Intimidation and backroom deals are what got us in the mess we are in and it’s time for new blood in Delaware. I wish I lived in the 14th if only for November!
“Why would people come to you to complain?”
They don’t come to me to complain, but it has come up in a lot of conversations lately.
“I am sure we will add a few more people to the list.”
You’re involved in this, too?
No way, I have as much as I can handle. I mean people we will forward to Don.
I get political spam 24-7. This newsletter tends to be factual and informative. I learn a little bit from everyone and this gives me more info on Weeks. I don’t buy everything that people try to sell me on the Internet.
I appreciate the attempt to get me information regarding candidates I might want to support.
I also get Jud’s emails and I learn from those as well.
Agreed, though i think a varity of sources of information is good. I would encourage people to add one more to the mix. I like what Jud did in creating a sort of one stop opinon shop and political news email service.
OUCH!! posted by Eric bodenweiser’s brother at this site:
Dedicated husband? Not to the first wife!
Father? Which child is this regarding? He’s father more than one!
Grandfather? OK…can’t honestly comment on the grandfather thing but I seriously doubt that he’s set up a college fund (and he claims to be wealthy) for either of his grandchildren.

that’s gonna sting……
Political spam? What is the Obama administration but Political spam. All talk and nothing that matters, kind of like Jud Bennett.
The only thing which stings is the failed Democrat policies which have wrecked the country. They say Bush put the country in a ditch? Obama has put in the center of the earth.
Pete, as majority leader, must support the national Socialist-Democrat Party platform. Hence, it might be smart to attach him at the hip to Obama. Very smart.
“Weeks stated that, much like retiring Representative George Carey, he probably wouldn’t sponsor a lot of legislation”
If I was Schwartzkopf, I’d repeat that over and over. Wouldn’t sponsor a lot of legislation? George Carey as a role model? I can think of a thousand things that need sponsoring, from tax cuts to reducing the number of state employees to protecting marriage to parental notification of abortion to reforming the way the budget is compiled to eliminating legislators from taking state jobs after they get elected to repealing prevailing wage. The list goes on. Sounds to me like Weeks doesn’t want the whole job.
Anontoo, I agree with you. With all of the the things wrong we need people who will bring solutions and not just sit there. Even so, it is about numbers. I would rather have a person who votes the right way, than one who is an activist creating bigger problems.
At least George Carey did no harm and he did do some good. He introduced legislation which helped get the school choice debate going with a tuition tax credit. We didn’t get that but we got people thinking. We ended up with public school choice and Charter schools. He brought some common sense balance to ag issues. He always voted sensibly. One could do a lot worse.
Compare that to the majority leader who raised taxes, turned down spending reform, created a needless cultrual chasm by turning down marriage protection amendments to the gay rights bill (he could have allowed one 75% of Delawareans supported), and created bills of concern to the business community which is already struggling.
I think someone who brings the people of the 14th together would be an improvement. In six years, Weeks will be bored and back in the private sector. You can have your chance then.
How did the door to door in the 14th go this Saturday?
