  1. How dare he shamelessly accept donations from employers, investors, law enforcement, and the National Rifle Association!

Those groups of people are trying to destroy America.

  2. Well, Rick, that just goes to show how independent they are! Nobody supports them.

  3. Well Nitpicker, there are law firms, PACs and lobbyists in that collection and it is only a partial list. You’ll have to look a little closer.
BTW, you are allowed to support any one you want and you didn’t have to read it. Smyk received money from the NRA then he drafted the amendment they wanted on the Gun Bill HB325, then covered his sorry ass. Everybody has to wait to buy a gun except the people he exempted by the amendment. (special interests) That may not bother you Nitpicker, but it bothers me and many other people!

    That’s what is called corruption

  4. The tobacco, liquor, law firm, legislative and other special interest lobbyists naturally raise questions, but what is really interesting is his choice of campaign treasurer.

  5. Bottom line… one votes to elect a person to represent you… not

  6. Just saw the trailer for D’Souza’s new film.

You guys going to start pushing the “Democrats are the anti-black party” now?

Dave’s been on that bandwagon for years, but I guess he doesn’t work here anymore, just a sometime contributor.

  7. The Socialist-Democrats are quite clever. They still keep millions of African-Americans on the new plantation (ghetto). They’ve just tweaked the formula to conform to today’s sensibilities; the “constituents” (slaves) are still given a subsistence-level lifestyle (food stamps, public housing, medical care), with the added benefits of television, drugs and no work other than to vote to keep the modern, “compassionate” overseers (Democrats) in the Big House.

All the while, professional grievance advocates like Jackson and Sharpton get rich perpetuating the racism myth while promoting the very party that perpetuates virtual slavery.

I guess the authors of “The Bell Curve” were right.

  8. @Jaded Observer
David is a corporate officer and owner in “The Midlantic Dispatch LLC Partnership,” and is a very busy man. He works a job for a living as well as working at being a Dover City Councilman. When he has time he writes on important issues that he supports. Delawarepolitics.net is a publication of The Midlantic Dispatch.

  9. “David is a corporate officer and owner in “The Midlantic Dispatch LLC Partnership,” and is a very busy man.”

Well, thank goodness for the rest of us that you have nothing better to do with your time.

  10. Current/retired police have always been exempt from background checks. They are also exempt from the drawn out conceal permit process also. Implying Smyk added an amendment to the bill for a special interest group is disingenuous. Any person with a lick of sense would expect a man who had a honorable career in law enforcement would pick up endorsements by fellow police associations.

  11. @Gomez
Thank you for your defense of Mr. Smyk. I believe Smyk to be in over his head as a state representative. I don’t believe for one minute that he will defend Second Amendment rights for the common citizen. He is there for the paycheck!!!

  12. Big Deal…

Smyk’s support from various law enforcement / police lobbies is naturally both pro forma and de regeur, however, the laundry list of various other special interests indicates that he made the Faustian Bargain a long time ago.

If you want a continuation of the same old closed-loop special interest driven corporate police state plantation politics of Delaware, by all means vote early and often for Smyk.

If you prefer nanny state socialism, vote Democratic.

However, if you desire to preserve and advance individual freedom and liberty, on November 8, declare your independence and VOTE for DON AYOTTE.
