Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Suits Gives Wink to Palin
Aug 29th, 2008 by David Anderson
Hillary Clinton praised the historic nature of John McCain’s vice presidential selection in a brief statement released Friday that was eagerly anticipated by both presidential campaigns.
“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain,” Clinton, the first woman to win a presidential primary, said in the statement. “While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”

Hillary supporters will never jump to Falin. Hillary supporters came out of the 60′s fighting for womens rights. Falin doesnt believe that women deserve equal pay for the same job? Her extreme right wing views are so further to the right of the “Maverick”, she will be disposed of quickly. Yes the republicans are nervous and we should be. This was a poor choice for VP, and shows poor judgement by McCain. Disgusted with politics all around. My vote is with Bob Barr, at least he knows that the republican party is on the verge of extinction because the extreme right has hijacked the party.
This election was the time for the republicans to reform their party and rid it of the neo con conservatives as Reagan did. This is a lost opportunity and a lost election from the gitgo.
That is an interesting lie that keeps being put out. Palin is a described a feminist. Her life’s resume bares that out. Unless you believe that only abortion defines a feminist. She believes in equal pay for equal work with equal experience. She doesn’t believe in comparable worth which is unequal pay for unequal work.
Do you believe that because most secretaries are women and most truck drivers are men that the government should equalize their pay? That is what is proposed with Comparable worth. It is insane. Let’s have that debate.
I have a theory that postulates that McCain is actually trying to shake up his own party, out of their Rovian neocon comfort zone.
People have been asking what has happened to the maverick McCain we all knew.
Up to now in his campaign he has tried the Atwater/Rove approach to hardball campaigning, and it is not working well enough to get him elected. In fact, it may be about to backfire, in light of the Dem convention success. So here comes Palin!
Palin is about as outside the GOP neocon Washington as one can get. She is a social conservative to be sure, but in governing she is a maverick pragmatist, just like McCain.
Didn’t McCain say?: “She is EXACTLY what I need.”
He doesn’t need the Rove and neocon types anymore, I don’t think. He’s fed up to here with them.
This is meant to shake up his party, hopefully to victory in November, but if not, to get back to some basic party principles that can do well for this nation as we move on. A vibrant two party system is exactly what we need to get back to; then we will shine again!
That’s my theory.
PS: Now of course, I am not for a McCain/Palin victory in November, because I think we have a much, much better choice than to give the GOP another shot at this point in time. But I am for a vibrant two (or more) party system.
Well Perry, you could have written my post on what her nomination really means. Well said. i don’t find fault with a single word.
The only people voting for Bob Barr are other closeted ‘PINOs. Why don’t you just invite Bob over for a game of soggy biscuit, anon4? You’re swallowing anyway….make it competitive!
