Hussein Obama and the Socialist-Democrats in Congress are already moving toward complete federalization of the public schools' curriculum. I heard one BO apparatchik bemoan the fact that 'our schools are still in the 50's.' What? I wish they were. Back then, American students were competent. Today, our kids constantly rank at or near the bottom when compared to their international contemporaries. This decline, which has been occurring over the past forty years, has coincided with the growth of influence of the teachers unions (through campaign contributions to Socialist-Democrat candidates, exclusively) and the emphasis on 'education degrees' as a prerequisite to being hired as a teacher. Years ago they spent about <i>$2 billion</i> on a deseg plan that was supposed to the be end-all to be-all for academic achievement (for everybody). It failed miserably.
