Riegle Jumps In The 29th
Jan 7th, 2010 by Tennessee Walker
Former Mayor of Wyoming Hans Riegle has announced that he will pursue running for the Office of State Reprsentative of the 29th District. My sources in Kent County inform me that Mr. Riegle made this commitment tonite at the Kent County Republican Meeting.
Mr. Riegle is a retired C-5 pilot with 20 years in the service of our country in the United States Air Force. He served on the Wyoming Town Council and was subsequently elected Mayor of this Central Kent County Town. He was the Kent County Coordinator of the Bill Lee Campaign in 2008.
Kent Chairman Dave Burris stated that there were at least 3 other Republicans interested in the job. However, the only candidate willing to go public at this date was Mr. Riegle. Steve Artz who ran for Comptroller in 2008 stated at this meeting that he was considering a run.
My Democrat friends tell me that there are Democrats interested in the 29th District Representative position as well and that Trey Paradee should not be considered the Democrat shoo-in.
There are long time Democrat families who could win a primary based solely on family connections in the 29th district. These family members could garner necessary Republican farm votes much better than Paradee who claims he is a farmer but in fact makes his living in financial services.
At any rate, Hans Riegle has thrown his hat into the ring. He has a solid record of community service and service to his country.

Hans Riegel did a great job as Kent County coordinator for the Bill Lee campaign. Though we rarely interacted directly, I was impressed by his enthusiasm as well as his willingness & ability to recruit and rally volunteers. He got results and results are what counts.
Dave Burris (the Sussex County one)
Agreed, I think that Steve Artz has a lot of positive potential as well. I can think of 4 good candidates.
There is no shortage of potential candidates. I can think of many as well. Much work needs to be done as the democrat candidate will be tough as well.
