Regional Round Up Week of August 14–PA Bombshell Poll

Aug 14th, 2009 by David Anderson

Pennsylvania For all of the intrigue the budget battle holds, the latest numbers have to add a sense of panic to the legislature and governor. The deficit has grown another 700 million dollars since the end of June due to the lack of economic recovery in Pennsylvania. It now tops 3 Billion dollars.

Senator Specter cannot seem to escape Rep. Pat Toomey. While Specter holds a 11 point lead in primary polling with Congressman Joe Sestak, a bombshell poll by Rasmussen shows both Specter (48 to 36) and Sestak (43 to 35) trail Rep. Pat Toomey in early polling. Further undermining Specter’s strength is that he trails even more than the lesser known Sestak. Specter can’t go to Governor Rendell for much help. The governor’s poll numbers are sinking with the state budget. They are now down to 39% approval.

Virginia is looking better all the time for Republicans. Historically when a statewide Republican Candidate since 1993 has had a lead greater than 10 points going into Labor Day, he wins in Virginia. Yet another poll shows that
AG McDonnell may achieve that milestone. We all know that elections can change and Deeds proved that in the primary so only a fool would count him out.

President Obama’s slipping poll numbers in the Old Dominion State means that national Democrats won’t be of much help. If Deeds is to pull an upset, it would be all on him and the Virginia party. Maybe he can catch Governor Kaine in the state and do some more appearances with him. (The Governor is also Chair of the DNC and has been teased about his frequent travels out of state.)

Maryland
has been upset that its citizens are paying their bills and saving rather than risk it on the new slots. Revenue has fallen below expectations. They hope a new Baltimore Location will remedy that problem.

Senator Cardin received the proverbial earful in Haggerstown. It wasn’t all shouting though. The senator said he was pleased with the showing. The gym held its limit of 1500 people leaving a 1000 had to stay outside and hold their own discussion.

New York seems to be an Empire of political intrigue if nothing else. Governor Patterson’s woman of the week problem this week seems to his former senate staffer Indira F. Noel. She forged a signature of a former staffer to obtain his college transcripts which are protected under law. She plead guilty to disorderly conduct in a deal with prosecutors. She told the ex-worker that she was untouchable because of her relationship with the governor. It appears she was right. Jean Pierre is now suing and threatens to bring the governor into court to say exactly what that relationship is.

New Jersey Chris Christie has been enduring a two prong attack this week on silly charges that he engaged in a legal conversation about his future plans with a fellow government staffer Karl Rove. The law prohibits U. S. Attorneys from engaging in partisan political activities not discussing a hypothetical future activity. None the less the liberal media as jumped on the Corzine accusation and the Corzine campaign is flooding the airwaves with side by side pictures of Christie and “Bush Brain” Rove.

The Governor seems to trying to distract from a real scandal in his administration which cost taxpayers 1.4 million dollars on his watch. In the meantime another NJ Democrat goes to jail for tax evasion.

In Delaware, Governor Jack Markell decided to include Gender Identity in a new executive order giving protections for sexual orientation. The legislature in its wisdom stripped that from the original bill. The governor for the first time wants to give a mental disorder civil rights. The governor also signed into law a package of education reforms including eliminating the hated Delaware State Testing Program.

A mental disorder? Really? Some would say (not me, mind you), that belief in God was a mental disorder. Seriously.

  2. on 14 Aug 2009 at 11:112David Anderson

By definition something that is held in common by 93% of the world is not a disorder. You could question the 2% of Atheists have a disorder, but I think that would be equally silly.

Is it not classified as a mental disorder? If it is accompanied with certain symptoms it is. Otherwise the sex change operations would be in-ethical. Can you have it both ways?

  3. on 14 Aug 2009 at 11:203LiberalGeek

Is it classified as a disorder in the current DSM (I believe IV)? Further, what sort of experience do you have in diagnosis and treatment that would enable you to label something as a disorder?

And if someone labeled the belief that the world was round in the 12th Century as a disorder just because 99% of the world believed the same, they would have been wrong. It should also be noted that there have been people that considered racial characteristics to be indicative of inferiority throughout history. Those people were wrong as well.

Contrary to the majority does not equal a disorder.

The APA is a liberal activist group, but it calls for treating the disorder. As I alluded the mere holding of Transgender feelings or its expression is not viewed as a disorder, but when it is accompanied with other symptoms it is a recognized disorder. http://www.apa.org/pi/lgbc/transgender/

Nothing on Toomey LG? It may take you awhile to be able to say Senator Toomey, but my March prediction is getting more likely. How is that I am right 95% of the time yet I am the delusional one? LOL
Every time you all challenge me the facts are on my side. Will you ever learn? You all are still trying to do flips around abortion funding in healthcare when members of Congress on both sides accept my interpretation as well as anyone who understands the dynamics of the law. I guess when you are a liberal facts don’t matter except when they help you.

this is a simply thought-provoking article

  7. on 14 Aug 2009 at 11:437Steve Newton

    David
Either the links to the APA statements on transgendered individuals and gender identity dysphoria that you pasted in are too complex for you to interpret, or you are consciously distorting what they say.

The APA calls for treating Gender Identity Dysphoria, which is completely different from suggesting that the APA calls for “treatment” of transgendered individuals to somehow “cure” them.

As for your derision of the APA as liberal, it is convenient, isn’t it, that any organization with which you disagree can be so categorized and disregarded, no matter what they say?

Must be nice to inhabit such a simplistic world.

    Black. White. No gray.

  8. on 14 Aug 2009 at 11:518David Anderson

I gave you the links because they are not simple. Believe me (or not), I have the background to understand them. I simplified it because Liberals like to make the simple things complex so they can justify anything.

The APA was taken over by the left 30 years ago. That happens to be a fact. I don’t think they would deny it. A little of the history

  9. on 14 Aug 2009 at 12:259LiberalGeek

Senator Toomey. That is funny. Sorry, your joke was forgotten after I read your slur.

As for being correct 95% of the time, I suggest you look up the word correct. I don’t think it means what you think it means. You have never let facts stand in the way of your delusions, so why start now.

As for the APA being “taken over by the left” I suppose that I can just point out the adage that facts have a liberal bias. And I, too have a background in these matters (mostly in severe psychological disorders) so to see you willfully misuse the links above is irksome. Fait accompli.

Black Man Pleads Guilty to Posing as Obama-Hating White Supremacist on Facebook
    Friday, August 14, 2009 AP
NEW ORLEANS — An African-American man from Mississippi admits posing as a white supremacist to send a death threat across state lines by Facebook.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 20-year-old Dyron L. Hart of Poplarville pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to making a threat in November 2008.

Hart admitted creating a name and using a white supremacists’ photo to pose as a white man who planned to kill blacks because Barack Obama had been elected president.

He originally was charged with threatening three black students at Nicholls State — where he had attended one semester — but pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count.

He sent the threats from a computer in Poplarville.

The maximum sentence is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine; sentencing is Nov. 18.

hope I’m not thread jacking, it’s seemed like an interesting story to add to wrap up post.

  12. on 14 Aug 2009 at 21:5812Pat Fish

That was an extremely well-written and informative post.

    I am impressed.

  13. on 15 Aug 2009 at 11:2213Perry

Yes, annoni, you did “threadjack” here, obviously, with an anecdote that has no broad implications. But you just could not resist!

Nevertheless, I knew that Pat would love it, so I guess it must be OK after all! :)

Hey Shill, it speaks to the astroturf of the left and left committing bad acts while pretending to be of the right.

it’s about the left creating a justification for cracking down on the right. Like the DHS report on the “Rise of right wing extremism” that was not supported by any research.

more dirty tricks from Obama and the left:

Lawmakers Complain Obama Organizers Set Up Constituent Meetings Without Telling Them
    Fox News ^ | August 12, 2009

Illinois Reps. Mark Kirk and Judy Biggert wrote in a letter Tuesday that their constituents had apparently scheduled meetings to discuss health care reform with them after receiving an Aug. 9 e-mail from BarackObama.com urging them to do so.

Two Republican lawmakers complained in a letter to President Obama this week that Democratic organizers scheduled meetings between the two lawmakers and their constituents without ever notifying them.

Illinois Reps. Mark Kirk and Judy Biggert wrote in a letter Tuesday that their constituents had apparently signed up for meetings to discuss health care reform with them after receiving an Aug. 9 e-mail from BarackObama.com urging them to do so.

“However, the names of our constituents and the times they wished to visit were never communicated to us,” the letter said.
