RED STATE Challenge

Aug 2nd, 2010 by Tennessee Walker

I have been a faithful reader of Red State.com for a couple of years. I have followed various stories and I have found the website to be helpful and informative. Recently, they have taken the side of Christine O’Donnell in the Delaware Race for the U.S. Senate and that includes a nationwide fundraising effort.

I had no problem with that.

While I thought their efforts were misguided and lacking in any type of local input, I believed these efforts were in keeping of the Red State mission.

Sadly, I did nothing to relieve the Redstate folks of their erroneous preconceptions. I did not for one moment think that Redstate did NO (ZERO) fact checking and no opposition research into the really illusory campaign of Christine O’Donnell.   Sadly , I was wrong.

Erick Erikson of RedStatecom has stated that Mike Castle will change his party affiliation to Democrat should he be elected U.S. Senator. Now I know Erikson knows nothing about Delaware. This is obvious by what he posts. But where did he get such stupid information?  Well,  we can thank many lame brained idiots who post here. These same idiots also say that they should not be constrained by facts since they are not really journalists. We can also thank the myriad of O’Donnell smear merchants who inhabit this site with their comments.

So Erick, if you really believe what you have said then I challenge you to this.

If Mike Castle changes his party affiliation, as you allege he will do in your article, by the time of the swearing in of the next Congress in January then I will pay you $10,000. If he does not change his party then you owe me $10,000. Will you take me up on this Erik? Or will you run and hide like the typical O’Donnell supporters always do when confronted with the truth.

I will submit to David Anderson a Cashier’s Check for $10,000 upon David’s receipt of the same from you. (David is a supporter of Christine. David and I are friends and I trust him not to leave for the Bahamas)

In short Erik put up or shut up. Either accept my bet or take back your lame brain undocumented post about Mike Castle changing his party affiliation and store it where the sun doesn’t shine.

Erik you have been conned. I was conned by the same group.
That being said I am more than willing to take your money.

For those who want to read the lunacy of Erik Erikson it is here:

For anyone in this state who has had the pleasure of knowing, working with, or just plain meeting Congressman Castle knows that such a manuever by him would be next to impossible. Whoever initiated the con-job story is a sad, sorry individual. Shame on REDSTATE and Erik Erickson for not checking the facts first and for failing to sniff out the rotten stench.

  2. on 03 Aug 2010 at 06:592Donna

Yeah, it was a stupid post. Why should he change his party affiliation? He already votes with the left on 85% of the important issues.

  3. on 03 Aug 2010 at 07:303David

I would not encourage Erick to take you up on that bet. I choke on the Congressman’s record, but his integrity is first class. That is why I have voted for him so many other times.

There are a lot of reasons to find fault with the Congressman. I have no idea why make up one, and I was surprised that Erick bought into it. If he would have called Christine, she likely would have waved that one off.

My vote will be to make sure neither of you have a chance to take that bet up.

Erik Erikson of RedStatecom has stated that Mike Castle will change his party affiliation to Democrat should he be elected U.S. Senator….[b]ut where did he get such stupid information? Well, we can thank many lame brained idiots who post here.

If Erikson bases his reports on what he reads in blogs, then he is the ‘lame brained idiot.’

Red State is now stained yellow…from the egg on its face.

Mike Castle is a Republican, has been one all his life and he’ll leave this Earth as a Republican. There are very few Republicans in this state that will not door knock with him and even fewer he would not go with.

I am particularly offended at those who invoke the names of Arlen Specter and Dede Scozzafava. Specter was a Democrat until age 36. Scozzafava was actively testing the waters for a party switch until John McHugh’s seat became available and she was at the front of the Republican line.

Mike Castle may not be a true blue conservative on every issue. But he’s a true blue Republican. He stands behind our candidates and our party with his time, his energy and his money. During our party’s darkest days, he transferred tens of thousands of dollars to the state committee. During its brightest days, he was a governor who helped make Delaware a model for the rest of the nation to emulate and envy.

Mike Castle will often make me scratch my head and outright tick me off at times. But there is no way on God’s Earth he will ever cross that aisle.

    Not ever…

I read that story in Red State and was shocked.

No way Castle will change to Democrat. Then Erick went on to say that Castle will then resign and hand over his seat to Beau Biden…you read that part?

This is all total crap but Erick said it was written in stone.

and no, I don’t believe for a minute he got this from the O’Donnell campaign. They wouldn’t believe such a thing either.

Somebody peed upon his feet and told him it was raining. I dunno, maybe Erick was set up by somebody trying to make him look dumb.

But that story is the stuff of pure fiction.

I have no idea why make up one, and I was surprised that Erick bought into it. If he would have called Christine, she likely would have waved that one off.

    David,
Erick says that her people gave this to him. She didn’t wave it off, she approved it. Read what he says:

It’s a done deal. The deal has been made already. I’m hearing this not just from Christine O’Donnell people, but party regulars in Delaware, some of whom support Castle. It is insane.

  8. on 03 Aug 2010 at 13:598David Anderson

Some people connected to her is not her. What you should really be asking is who connected with Mr. Castle was telling that. The idea that some in his opponent’s camp don’t trust him to stay in the party is not news. The idea that some in his own camp think it is pausible is man biting dog.

  9. on 03 Aug 2010 at 16:459cookie

    http://christine2010.com/blog/383-castle-likely-would-sell-out-or-even-jump-ship/

    David,
This is on her website. She says Castle will likely jump ship. There is no denying this was put out by her.

  10. on 03 Aug 2010 at 16:4610Tennessee Walker

“The idea that some in his own camp think it is pausible is man biting dog.”

David no one in Castle’s camp thinks that he is going to change his party. Give me a break. Erick Erikson has been played for a fool and it was not done by Castle. .

  11. on 03 Aug 2010 at 16:5111cookie

And even worse, they put words into Washington Post writer Karmen’s mouth. He didn’t say Castle would pull a “Specter” or change parties.

  12. on 03 Aug 2010 at 18:2412David

Erickson said he had O’Donnell and Castle sources. If he did, the castle source played him like a fiddle.

I guess Christine has become cynical about Mr cast.

  13. on 04 Aug 2010 at 11:0913cookie

    David,
Gimme a break. If O’Donnell did put it out, it was Castle’s fault she did. You are beginning to sound just like her. It’s always everybody else’s fault.
