'Fiscal responsibility' should indeed be a 'litmus test'- but not the only litmus test; fiduciary prudence is only one component of conservatism. Remember John McCain?

Fiscal responsibility should be a true 'litmus' test for any GOP candidate.
If this country had to abide by Sarbanes/Oxley or generally accepted accounting practices our President, Secretary of the Treasury and Fed Chairman would be in jail.

David , I have to agree with Rick on Mr. Steele. I was a supporter of his and believed him to be a good start towards moving right. But since becoming the RNC Chairman it would seem instead of leading that move to the right he has fallen prey to the sickness of the party, which is the belief that we can lead from the middle. This is a false premis.

The 'Tea Party,' running as a third party, will guarantee a Socialist-Democrat supermajority in Congress. The Republican Party must be infiltrated, and changed, from within; this is already happening. Moderate appeasers, such as McCain and his waifish daughter, and Steele to a lesser extent, need to be told to shut up and get the hell out of the way.

Americans who mistakenly fell for BO's 'hope and change' nonsense have come to realize their error. Independents are utterly disgusted with BO's radical agenda. The time is ripe for a conservative rejuvination; but not through third-party candidates who will only succeed in spliting the vote. It's time to be realistic- we need conservative Republicans.

A little leadership wouldn't hurt, either.
