« Part II: “Silent No More Rally” The Crowd
The Tea Party Rally-My Word »

President Obama down to 50/50–Town Hall People Viewed Favorably

Aug 9th, 2009 by David Anderson

“Overall, 50% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove,” according to Rasmussen Reports.

What about the town hall health care opponents who are hurting their cause according to the left?

Forty-one percent (41%) of U.S. voters have a favorable opinion of the people opposing health care reform at town hall meetings now being conducted by members of Congress, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

But 35% view the protesters unfavorably. Twenty-three percent (23%) are not sure what they think of them.

Given the partisan anger prompted by the town hall meetings, it’s not surprising to see a similar divide in the survey. Fifty-five percent (55%) of Democrats have an unfavorable view of those opposing the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and the leaders of their party. Sixty-three percent (63%) of Republicans and the plurality (48%) of voters not affiliated with either party view the protesters favorably.

If the town hall attendees are like those at the Tea Party rally, then there is good reason that people view them positively. They are your neighbors, relatives, and friends. They are just people with an opinion. The last speaker at the Dover Rally was a nurse who struck an inclusive tone. She was not anti-immigrant or anyone else. She just wanted to go on saving lives. Let her do her job. That is all she wanted. Most Americans want her to do just that.

Obama shot back up to 58% from what Friday’s teevee talking heads were saying.

The nurse has it right, just let her do her job.

I would add that all Americans deserve to have their healthcare serviced by our medical care providers, because it is our right to have health care, whether we can afford it or not.

Most “civilized” countries have adopted that value.

Obama’s problem with selling his health insurance reform effort is that the opposition has framed the issue so far by using lies, distortions and straw men about what the proposed bill contains.

Here is the documented proof of the opposition tactics. Read it for yourself:

    And we’re included.

Sort of like saying that people in the US don’t get treated if they can’t afford it, you mean? Nice try.

    “And we’re included.

No way, not when sick people who can’t afford the cost, or who are uninsured, wait until the last minute to finally seek medical attention, when they are in much worse condition.

Obviously, you don’t know about this, or you ignore it!

  5. on 09 Aug 2009 at 12:355David Anderson

I have the polling from several firms. I did see that outlier, but it wasn’t even a poll of registered voters. NPR had him at 53%, Rasmussen at 50% just yesterday, If my memory is correct Zogby is 49%. That is all about the same poll. If you give 2 points plus or minus that averages to 51%.

I do think it is interesting that the President did have a small spike among a of of all adults, but none among people who will actually go out and vote next year.

  6. on 09 Aug 2009 at 12:496Hube

    No way

Way. The worst situation is called the “ER” where anyone can go and get treated. No, it’s not optimal, but in flies directly in the face of your contention that people can’t get care whether they can afford it or not. Obviously, you don’t know about this, or you ignore it!

Hell, in some respects, uninsured folks here in the US get faster (and perhaps better) treatment in our ERs than those facing rationing like in the UK and Canada.

What’s that about “misinformation” again, Perry? LOL!

Or like saying that there are 47 million uninsured Americans but not telling people that between 11 and 15 million of those people are illegal immigrants. Are you really telling me that we as a nation should be paying for the health insurance of illegal immigrants who don’t pay taxes, broke the law to get here and are continuing to break the law by avoiding arrest on the chare of illegally entering the USA?

Let’s pretend that you’re like most Americans and feel we should exclude illegal immigrants, that brings the number down to 36 million using the Huffington Posts own numbers (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/earl-ofari-hutchinson/why-so-many-blacks-fear-i_b_14472.html).

Another 14-16 million or so make plenty of money to afford health insurance but choose not to buy it which brings the number down to between 20 and 22 million. Many of these uninsured, (as many as 14 million) already qualify for but have not applied for Medicare/Medicaid/SCHIP and other programs. That leaves around 8 million Americans that truly cannot afford healthcare due to preexisting conditions. (http://liberty.pacificresearch.org/publications/the-top-ten-myths-of-american-health-care-a-citizens-guide)

So let’s not pretend like the majority of Americans hate their healthcare. Infact it’s the opposite. 80+ percent of Americans are happy with their healthcare and close to 80% are happy with their insurance. Let’s have an honest and real discussion about helping the people that truly need help as opposed to the entire country, most of which do not. Let’s also have a discussion about how to lower costs of healthcare without the need to fundamentally change our nation and the best healthcare system in the world.

Look its pretty simple CEO’s control health care if they don’t want to pay they will find a pr existing condition and that’s that so someone will all ways be able to ration care u just can’t vote them out

their is no perfect health care system in the world the sooner we come to that conclusion and stop playing politics maybe we can put are heads together and at lest come up with a really good system were everyone can have good quality health care and yes it going to cost us nothing in life is free

If you are one of the ones that don’t want HC go to the ER and see how many hours you have to wate behind someone with out Ins because they don’t have a DR to go to for common cold or go out and price your own Ins if u have pr existing condition or like my friend who has Ins and needs his gulbladder out but Dr,s want money up front because his deductible is so high and the ER will not do it until its a critical situation (ER’s only have to stabilize you unless its critical)

BO is a commie con-man. The con-man carried the day with the help of a compliant media and inept opposition. Now, the American people are beginning to see him as the little commie bastard that he is. And if you think his numbers are lame, check out fellow traveler Nancy Pelosi.
