NJ is fun to watch

First a prayer in a Teacher Union email that muses for GOD to take Governor Christie, then the back and forth over corruption in campaigns made for a fun week in NJ politics. The most interesting storyto me is the fact that at risk schools in Newark spend around 18,000 to 19,000 dollars a student (twice the state average) and yet are still at risk. What are they doing with the money? State Senator Doherty- R wants to review the at risk designation assignments to be sure the money goes to the right schools and stops sucking money from other schools like those in his suburban district. I think the real question should be what should be done to use the at risk money’s so that the schools are not at risk. When this type of money is flowing there is no incentive to get your school improved then you lose half of your money.
Also interesting is that New Jersey seems to a third world system for government contracts. It seems that it helps to make hundreds of thousands in campaign contributions.
Among firms with state contracts, the top ten campaign contributors, according to ELEC:
T&M Associates – $534,300
CME Associates – $499,370
Remington & Vernick Engineers, Inc. – $356,325
Maser Consulting P.A. – $227,711
Pennoni Associates Inc. – $210,079
Parker McCay PA – $207,030
Richard A. Alaimo Associates – $201,000
Birdsall Services Group – $191,850
Adams, Rehmann & Heggan Assoc. -$178,140
Capehart Scatchard P.A. – $154,317
Then you wonder why I tell Delawareans to keep a two party state so we don’t become like New Jersey. Governor Christie has a mess to clean up. It would be ironic if we kept down that road and they passed us on the way back to a common sense government.

Yes, let’s not ‘Jersey-up’ Delaware!
