My Final Word

Aug 8th, 2009 by admin

DD over at Hypocrisy Heaven has issued his judgement, based on his inflated opinion of himself, as though anybody who’s not cowering behind an alias is interested in his opinion.

But it does give me an opportunity to make two points in closing this matter out:

1) Why is it okay that I (or anyone) get called out, insulted, abused (and worse) by name, but I can’t do the same? In what adult arena is that acceptable? It’s completely fair game. You use my name, I’ll use yours. And that should be SOP for the blogosphere. No one has been ‘silenced.’ Kavips is still free to blog. People just have some perspective now. And that’s the way it should be.

2) For all the abuse I’ve received for a very legitimate act, and for all the hue and cry about outing bloggers, consider this: the Delaware Liberal blogger who organized the Delaware Liberal event at Twin Lakes Brewery is named Canio Caputo, and he lives in Brandywine Hundred.

You know how I know this?

I READ IT IN THE FREAKIN’ NEWSPAPER.

So, please. Shut your freakin’ mouths. It’s time to put an end to all of the holier-than-thou, first amendment crap that you hide behind in order to act like an ass without putting your name behind it. It’s not your political views that are causing this: it’s the insults, the attitude and the childishness. It’s time to be grown-ups, boys.

Oh, and to come full-circle on this whole mess, Delaware Liberal uses the word “nonpartisan” in describing their Twin Lakes event.

(PS: I have no problem with DA taking down the post, as he was spending too much time deleting comments from people outing other bloggers & commenters. I made my point.)

If you were any kind of a man, you would show up at the Twin Lakes event. I dare you to.

  2. on 08 Aug 2009 at 09:002Delaware Dem

And before you think that is a threat, I just find it ironic that you decry our hyprocrisy at Delaware Liberal, yet we have managed to hold numerous public events open to all ideological stripes for charity and for just fun, and we have all managed to be civil in real life. And yet, I have never seen you at any event.

Instead, you are the only throwing bombs from behind a computer.

  3. on 08 Aug 2009 at 09:013Delaware Dem

“Shut your freaking mouths” is really what you want us to do. That is why you are outting us. You are a fascist piece of [redacted], Dave Burris.

  4. on 08 Aug 2009 at 09:034Hugh Knowawho

If [redacted] were any kind of men, they would post entirely under their own names. People who do so usually tend to avoid calling others nasty ones.

Instead, these scrotem pole caricatures are the equivalent of cowardly intellectual terrorists. They aren’t the suicide vest type, but the roadside IED detonated from remote keyboard.

Your reputations are fair game, but theirs must be preserved, in order to continue the liberal jihad. Obama Akbar!

Welcome to the newest weapon….the conservative hellfire pantsdropper. Waving liberal’s pea-sized junk in the wind for everyone to see.

When they post under your own names, they’ll find the world a nicer place. Until then…..love ya!

  5. on 08 Aug 2009 at 09:255Dave Burris

““Shut your freaking mouths” is really what you want us to do.”

When it comes to personally insulting people by name referencing their appearance, their job, their relationships or personal life, you’re half-right. Shut up or put your name behind it.

Face it, DD. Your pathetic, rank hypocrisy has been exposed. Whatever credibility you all thought you had is gone forever.

You can’t argue the point, so you call me fascist. I’m not threatening, intimidating or otherwise affecting anyone except when it comes to one thing: insult people by name and expect the same to happen to you.

And why in God’s name would you think I would have any desire to hang out with your gang at any event? And why would you think I have anything to prove to anyone?

And what was the Community News’ diabolical motive for outing DV? Intimidation? Fascism?

Game’s over, kids. Grow the hell up.

  6. on 08 Aug 2009 at 09:286Dave Burris

And questioning someone’s manhood while hiding your identity is the ultimate exclamation point for this entire argument.

    Here endeth the lesson.

  7. on 08 Aug 2009 at 09:517Alex B.

“And questioning someone’s manhood while hiding your identity is the ultimate exclamation point for this entire argument.”

You hit it right on the head with that comment, Dave.

  8. on 08 Aug 2009 at 09:568Alex B.

By the way, you’d think someone with the name Delaware Dem would be able to practice law in… I don’t know… DELAWARE!

  9. on 08 Aug 2009 at 10:509noman

And what was the Community News’ diabolical motive for outing DV?

Because he chose to tell them his name and let it be used in that context.

Most of the pseudonymous people aren’t hiding their identities – they have made their IDs known in the past and they are discoverable. They just prefer not to be search-optimized in Google. Which is a perfectly reasonable concern.

Is DD really trying to say that if bloggers don’t attend DL charitable works they are to be categoried and denigrated?

Charitable work is best done with some humility, IMO… not with the loud crowing and chest-thumping that has accompanied the DL events. I find that kind of behavior extremely distasteful (I was raised by a few generations of Methodists on my mom’s side).

I am glad for them and for their charities that they do it but to come to find out here that DL is keeping SCORE of blogger participation is a bit much. SHEESH.

Their’s sure as shit isn’t the only game in town when it comes to bloggers investing time, money, energy and sweat into doing a good deed for its own sake.

In fact, when politically-minded people do charity under their banner, it is almost inescapably self-serving. Browine points for votes at election time will always be the underlying assumed motivation. (To their credit, DL opening their events to all –in a nonpartisan manner– does circumvent such a motive)

I was taught (by my parents example) that the reward of such acts is the knowledge of a job well done. Period. Pinning blue ribbons on one’s chest is hype of the most ridiculous kind. (I only get that feeling from Liberal Geek, DV and DD; Jason seems to have some perspective at least)

  11. on 08 Aug 2009 at 11:1211Nancy Willing

When I clicked onto the link above, I figured it would lead to a page on the News Journal web site. DV’s real name is still published there on one of their blogrolls of Delaware Blogs….back when he was stil a fairly well-behaved individual. :-)

  12. on 08 Aug 2009 at 12:0512Dave Burris

Someone just pointed this out to me:

“we have managed to hold numerous public events open to all ideological stripes for charity and for just fun, and we have all managed to be civil in real life. ”

So you freely admit, without prompting, that when your identity is attached, you behave with civility. Thank you for making my case better than I ever could have.

  13. on 08 Aug 2009 at 12:3513Mark H

“So you freely admit, without prompting, that when your identity is attached, you behave with civility. Thank you for making my case better than I ever could have.”

Dave, I think you have him there :) Even though I don’t agree with what you did (kavips), I at least understand why you felt you needed to do what you did. And in any case, you’ve done all of this with your name attached to everything, so at least you take responsibility for your postings, unlike other posters that I’ll not bother to name.

  14. on 08 Aug 2009 at 16:5414LiberalGeek

Nancy – I have never posted anything bragging or chest-pounding about DelawareLiberal’s charitable ventures. I am proud of them and I have gone to great lengths to reach out to everyone and discuss the benefits to the charities. Both of the events that I had a large hand in were attended by Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians. I welcome them and have always taken the community aspect of the blogosphere seriously.

If you remember differently than I, by all means show me what you mean.

  15. on 09 Aug 2009 at 06:3015Nancy Willing

LG, you are correct that you didn’t do anything irritating (IMO) on the charity posts. I got that ‘put-off sensation’ during your homeless-man series. I just thought that it was a bit exploitive on your end.

  16. on 09 Aug 2009 at 18:1116LiberalGeek

Nancy – I am sorry to hear that. Perhaps it is in the way I presented them. I intended to highlight the issues that the homeless face and the reasons for their conditions. I tried to challenge the myth that they were all crazy, addicted, or lazy. They are often complicated and have a developed subculture that many of us drive by every day. It was a learning experience for me also.

FWIW, I stopped writing about him, but continue to help. Often with resources that came to me through those posts.

    1) Why is it okay that I (or anyone) get called out, insulted, abused (and worse) by name, but I can’t do the same?

Because underhand, chickens#!t tactics are reserved for leftist maggots.
