Maryland Democrats become Jailbait

From Baltimore to Annapolis, Democrats in neighboring Maryland had a bad week. Mayor Shelia Dixion was convictedof being a reverse Santa. She stole from the poor to fund her Best Buy addiction. City Alderman Samuel Shropshire had a more serious charge of sexual assault.
An Anne Arundel County judge convicted an Annapolis alderman Thursday of misdemeanor sex offenses against a U.S. Naval Academy midshipman.
Judge Paul F. Harris Jr. convicted Samuel E. Shropshire of second-degree assault and a fourth-degree sex offense. Sentencing was scheduled for Feb. 22.
In testimony Thursday, the 21-year-old midshipman from Florida told Harris that the failed Annapolis mayoral candidate whom he trusted as his sponsor molested him May 14 while driving him back to the Naval Academy, after the two had drinks and dinner and the midshipman was drunk and sleepy.
The midshipman also testified that in a “sting” telephone call he made to Shropshire, with investigators listening in, “He admitted to doing something that was absolutely not right between him and I.”
Shropshire was charged in the midst of his primary campaign for mayor. The midshipman was the first witness, giving a detailed description of what he alleged took place, and said he was so shocked by it that, “I didn’t want to believe what was happening.”
But in his opening statement, defense lawyer Drew Cochran said he would ask the judge to decide if his client’s conduct constituted a crime. In comparison, he said, if a man fondled a woman’s genitals and stopped when she told him to, was it a crime?
A prosecutor from Montgomery County was brought in to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest with the Anne Arundel prosecutor’s office, where two employees serve on the City Council.
Questioned by the prosecutor, the midshipman testified that he and Shropshire had a few drinks — he drank beer, Shropshire had mixed vodka drinks — and then dinner with more alcohol.
This disgusting twosome who betrayed the trust of their public while on duty is not the end of the story. Others are indicted for following the mayor’s lead. Maybe it is time to restore a two party system in Maryland. The one party state doesn’t work too well.
Good thing they’re not going to SCI…the guards would beat them to death.
