Making Dover Prosper Initiative Passes Council

The effort to provide a sound economic strategy for Dover has passed. Since Dover abandoned its Economic Development Department, unemployment has stagnated at over 7% while the national rate has fallen and more than a dozen downtown storefronts have become empty. This initiative is a collaborative effort with the business community. It combines the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce’s Vision 2020 with efforts to simplify and make permitting more customer friendly. Councilman David Anderson of the 4th district was the primary sponsor. The Initiative was adopted unanimously on August 14, 2017, without discussion as part of the consent agenda.
