UPDATE: Landrieu outraged at $100 million figure. She says it was $300 million and she is proud of it.
The Lapdog Democrats have caved yet again. All 58 Democrats and 2 independents formed the bare 60 vote super majority need to bring Reid Health Deform to the floor. Senator Mary Landrieu accepted a 100 million dollar pay off special addition for Louisiana in the form of medicaid aid. Does she really think voters will believe that their freedom is a fair trade for a measly 100 million of their own money?
I do understand the fact that you normally give the party the procedural vote. This is different. The so called centrist Democrats had a chance to steer the debate. The country was counting on them. They let us down. The reason independent voters are reconsidering voting for Democrats is simple. No matter how conservative the Democrat campaigns, when they get to Washington there is no such thing as a blue dog. There are only red dogs and lap dogs. They press release like Jim Inhofe and vote like Barbara Boxer.
Republicans have an opportunity. They can only achieve it by crafting themselves as the loyal opposition. The best way to feed cynicism would be to join the madness. There is no center ground. You are either for freedom or for socialism. This is a time of decision. The lap dogs have made theirs. They could have forced a Bennett Wyden type of bill. Instead they opted for a show. Republicans should now start forming a shadow government and pushing proposals to revitalize America. The field is theirs.
