The principal got this one right, it was not assembly material. I accept her explanation that she accepted the recommendation of others. I could see it as a discussion item in middle school or above, but not in an elementary school assembly. How about I pledge to work to the end of legal abortion? I pledge to work for the understanding of free markets and free peoples. I pledge to work for the advancement of the Republican opposition until it is once again a majority. I wonder if those would have made it into the school?

BO plans a nationwide brainwashing session on Sept. 8th, and I urge anyone with school-age children to find a way to keep your kids home that day. The NEA has sent out various suggestions to the public schools, all centered around the glorification of Obama and his radical, insidious agenda.
The U.S. isn’t North Korea…yet. Keep your children home on September 8th!
I PLEDGE to fight the President’s socialist and communist policies.
You people are crazy.
It’s the fear game, played to the hilt by the fringe, as they have done for decades! The irony is, the fringe doesn’t know that they are fringe, which is part of their “crazy”.
I’ll 2nd Jason’s comment. Noman, not crazy, just concerned! It is sad that the far left can’t see what is happening to our country, and its not just the far right pushing their agenda. I can say that since I’m not on the far right, but right of center. Please open your narrow minds!
Are you trying to deliberately conflate this one-off video with Obama’s national address to schoolchildren?
Are you trying to use this video opportunistically make the argument that Obama will be speaking to the nation’s schoolchildren to demand that they pledge allegiance to him personally?
If so that is a new low in dishonest debate.
This video was actually pretty good, although there were a few clips that were admittedly over the top. I think the “pledge to Obama” guy was supposed to be a joke, but it didn’t really work.
My recommendation is that if you are concerned about the President’s address on Sept. 8th than call your children’s school. Find out if they will even be broadcasting the adress. Find out if they plan on using the supplemental materials after the adress. If they are than let them know that you plan to be in school that day WITH your child. Rather than hiding your child from President Obama’s speech, watch it with them so you can explain it to them afterwards.
A good household rule that we had for a time in my family when I was growing up is that if any of us kids wanted to watch TV we had to watch it with either mom or dad or both.
a pledge of servitude to Obama… just plain creepy.
ps, who paid for this proffesionally produced video?
Maybe the National Endowment for the Arts? Who knows?
The answer is in the article David posted. It is some group organized by Hollywood celebrities. Don’t even try to pretend it is an official organ of the Obama Administration.
Sorry sometimes it’s fun to tease.
I fully realize that those celebrities don’t need any extra money to convince them to do something like that.
Noman and Perry, there was no condemnation of the President or even his party in my post. It was more a muse on the education system. Look what they show to the kids. You combine this with the original propaganda effort to have kids write what they can do to help the President and it looks like an effort that is overreaching.
David, I was addressing Rick and Jason O’Neill. Your point was put up for a reasonable discussion.
Thanks.(Not addressing the Jason and Rick part–you guys can “fight it out”) For the most part I try to avoid fake discussions and sensationalism. Once in a while it is good to fire up the passions, but some people like to live on it. It is like living on adrenaline, if feels good but does not serve you in the long run.
This is Barney the Dinosaur sinister as opposed to Nuremburg Rally sinister, which makes it ten times worse. Mein Ehre Heisst Treue.
Looks like I was right….BO and his NEA apparatchiks have already started the editing process.
Have you seen the BO posters…just like Mao, Stalin and Kim. What a freak. Watch him crack; he’s never been told ‘no’ before.
“It is some group organized by Hollywood celebrities.”
nore likely and organized group of Hollywood celebs… organized by whom?

looking ahead to the Day of Rememberance and Vigilance.
Perhaps the ACLU will allow a modified Grace before meals:
Fold your hands and bow your heads
Think of Barrack Obama ever
He gives us our daily bread
And from all evil doth deliver.
This is not of recent origin but the name has been changed to indict the culpable.
