Keep Velda!!! Dems Circle the Wagons.

Aug 27th, 2010 by Tennessee Walker

The Liberal Democrats have picked their poison and have chosen to defend the indefensible.

Liberal Democrat Jack Markell has decided to stand by his ill advised appointment of Velda Potter-Jones or is is it Velda Jones-Potter?

Keep Velda is part of the corrupt Wilmington Liberal Democrat clique that has transformed a once proud first city of Delaware into a hat in hand beggar. Velda it seems has this great and wonderful leadership program that has never once was initiated when she was an upscale city administrator during the 90′s and prior to 2009.

It seems that female Wilmington employees needed a self esteem program  for years and Miss Velda never once decided to use her knowledge and expertise to do her Liberal uplifting while on City Time. (Velda is reported to be a Cityof Wilmington  Administrator since 1990 according to the News Journal).    No instead Miss Velda needed a $150/ hour contract from the city to turn her talents to the poor self esteemless female employees of the City of Wimington.

Keep it up Jack Markell.  You can distance yourself all you want but THIS IS YOUR APPOINTEE.

Now for those who think that the State Treasurer needs back up income as long as she does not do City Business on State Time,  here are some invoices from luncheons paid by Velda’s firm for her “self esteem female employment Program”

According to documents obtained by the News Journal under a FOIA request.  Velda has hosted the following events during the State Workday.

•The expenses included $300 for meals for program participants at Old Country Buffet on Feb. 6, 2009, a Friday.

•A tour of Rockwood Museum at a cost of $60 that took place on Nov. 5, 2009, a Thursday.

•A retreat at Applebee’s on Rocky Run Parkway on Jan. 5, 2010, a Tuesday, cost $180. The time on the receipt is 5:32 p.m.

-The Del Rose Cafe catered a group session on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010. The bill for soup, sandwiches, cookies and beverages was $227. The food was delivered at 11:30 a.m.

•Walt’s Flavor Crisp catered a panel discussion on March 30, 2010, a Tuesday. It cost $142 for meatballs, macaroni and cheese, string beans, rolls, butter and soda.

•An evening closing ceremony at Timothy’s on the Riverfront cost $467. The ceremony was held Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

•A reunion for past participants was held on May 6, 2010, a Thursday, at Cafe Mezzanotte at 1:38 p.m. The bill for items such as seafood marinara, lasagna and crepes costs $101. Including the tip, the total bill was $123.

So where was Velda for all of these events?  Is the State Treasurer job not a 40 hour a week Job?

Yes, once again the Liberal Democrats totally waste the money of  the poor few taxpayers in the City of Wilmington.  The Liberal Democrats led by Markell are circling their wagons around Velda

She is a totally corrupt Liberal Democrat getting big bucks from the Government.  She has a husband on the City of Wilmington Council carrying her water.

This is what you get with decades of Liberal Control of any Government.

The facts are here:

It’s just amazing to me that she still has not only a chance to win, but in this state and with her Wilmington base is probably still the favorite. Not only is she a terrible candidate, but in my opinion we have an excellent candidate in Bonnini. I really think Colin has run a heck of a campaign. He has as many signs up as anybody and I can’t imagine he has nearly the same resources as Castle/Urquhart/Rollins.

Not saying she’s clean, but it is too soon for that statement.

Two other participants in the program Thursday said the experience was worthwhile. All three have the same positions they held when they took the program.

City officials said the work is to help the employees advance their careers. The city was not able to say Thursday how many of the 40 participants in the program have been promoted.

At least if the City had hired either policeman or firefighters with that money, they would be able to say how many people were arrested or how many fires were put out. To not be able to say how many particpants in the Self-Esteem Program were promoted is outright nonsense.

You don’t get it, all of Delaware politics is corrupt.

Wilmington is the worst followed by the County. Perhaps you missed the County article where it was revealed Tansey recruited Kilpatrick while Tansey was recruited and illegally supported by Gordonberry?

Tansey says she can be helpful on land use so you can expect more corruption on NCCC.

One better, stellar stand up Guy Vince Lofink is on her campaign report.

  6. on 27 Aug 2010 at 14:526Tennessee Walker

The other Geezer or Mikey P, glad to see you excuse corruption. Why are you running for office if you aren’t willing to condemn this level of taxpayer waste?

  7. on 27 Aug 2010 at 15:017Que Pasa

It looks like this was all a ruse to get some free food. Chickans and scramps, yo!

The depth and extent of Democrat-controlled corruption in Delaware is such that an elected official stressed that nothing could be done about the proof of insurance commissioner Stewart’s brazen corruption and falsification of her educational and professional background. Her connections were found to be so widespread among those whom she’s obviously cutting in on her bribes and kickbacks that she would get away with it and would stay in office until the end of her term. Obviously she’s used her 20 years of unemployment since she had a no-show job at the DOI under Levinson to extend her corrupt tentacles so other pigs at the public trough like herself will protect her. This is an atrocity and cowardice on the part of those who would otherwise be able to remove this criminal fraud from office as she should be. We can only hope the November elections will bring in some honest people who have the integrity to do something constructive about this appalling situation.

Old Geezer/Protack-hack, Janet Kilpatrick is a past head of GHADA and quite knowledgeable about the issues. She would never be involved in something like the infamous pink postcards, nor does she have delusions of grandeur in seeking a Senate seat or the Governorship with absolutely no experience. Moreover, she hasn’t been sued (let alone sued successfully) by past campaign vendors for failure to pay campaign debts.

  10. on 28 Aug 2010 at 14:1610The Other Geezer

Ah the same old tired attacks with no proof. I am not Mike P or his hack but merely point out the stupidity of delaware politics and idiots like you who pontificate but know nothing.

Horse’s ass aka Tennessee walker is clueless as always. All he knows about horses is when he worked at the track as a ‘white glove’ guy.
Need to know what they do?????????

I see where the hacks who write here favor experience? What experience did Lee have? None. Michele Rollins-none. Jan Ting-None and the list goes on and on. The GOP in Delaware and has no clue about anything. Copleland had experience and lost by 30%. Duh.

You prefer useful idiots like Castle who have experience but vote against what is best for the country and the state of delaware?

Pink Post cards. You mean the conspiracy theory launched by serial failure Dave Burris. That clown could not get a job in the third shift at the local 7-11. He was our regional chair for less than a year and left the place a mess with the Treasurer stealing money. Ask davey how many times he has been sued.

Did Protack kill JFK and kidnap the Lindbergh baby also? From what I saw the cards were 80% accurate. The author should get a Pulitzer.

Kilpatrick knows the issues. So what issue does she know? What does she support? She has no web site and is married to the slimiest guy in Delaware and is supported by Gordonberry hack Tansey.

The delusions of grandeur are from whiners like you who purchase a key board and computer and think you are Machiavelli.

Sooner or later GOP idiots like you will have to stop blaming guys like Protack and look in the mirror and see the reason for so much failure is looking back at you.

There are more cowards in the Delaware GOP than there are soldiers in the French Army.

  11. on 28 Aug 2010 at 14:2811The Delaware Bar

Did I hear lawsuits being whispered.
Assuming the pink postcards were libel or slander why did the parties damaged by the cards not sue? If the evidence was so damning and clear cut there would have been numerous lawsuits and the author would be penniless. Alas, there were none we all know why.

We all know evidence has to factual not political theory or guesswork and to verify facts and evidence one must have some sort of credibility and none of the Bloggers have any which would be accepted by any court. Former Governor Blago has more credibility than the most Blog participants.

As Detective Friday used to say, “just the facts M’am”

Now I know why I am a registered Independent, the Democrats are all crooks and the Republicans have no principles. Both parties have ruined this once great country.

I do not know Kilpatrick but if you do not have at least a web site can you be serious? I live in the Third and I will gladly vote for Protack this fall.

  12. on 28 Aug 2010 at 17:1212anon

Dear The Other Geezer / The Delaware Bar / Mike Protack’s astroturfing supporter,

    Please go away.

    Sincerely,
    Everyone.

  13. on 28 Aug 2010 at 21:1313Michael P. Borgia

I’m not the lawyer in the room, but one would figure the aggrieved parties would have had no grounds to sue because they are public figures.

Don’t know for sure, but in fact they did not sue.

It seems that female Wilmington employees needed a self esteem program…

What exactly is ‘self-esteem?’ Do you tell people who can’t write a cogent paragraph that they’re geniuses? That when you take a test, the results don’t matter- just make sure that you try?

How did we win WWII and put a man on the moon without self-esteem classes (and school administrators with Phd’s in ‘education’)?

  15. on 29 Aug 2010 at 09:0815Michael P. Borgia

Self esteem never comes from a class. And never can….

It comes from trying and failing…and failing again…and failing again…and finally succeeding.

Self esteem comes from KNOWING two and two make four. Not from thinking its five…or maybe three…and being told that’s “close enough.” Only polls have a margin of error, never math.

It comes from breaking that board with a chop, after you failed the first time at Tae Kwon Do class. My son did that and sending him to those classes when he asked was the best thing I’ve ever done for him…and his self esteem.

It comes from mastering a $16 million, Mach 0.87 airplane to the degree you teach its operation to others.

From making secular socialists pull their hair out in frustration as you make their positions crumble around them.

From winning a date with the really pretty girl at the pool…on your seventh try.

    But never from a class….
