Is Michele Rollins Afraid Of Mike Castle ?

Aug 12th, 2010 by Frank Knotts

As has been reported earlier, Mike Castle showed up at the monthly Sussex County GOP meeting on Monday night the 9th. It was completely unannounced. At least to the average member, which I consider myself. What hasn’t been talked about is that Michele Rollins was the scheduled guest speaker. Unfortunately (wink, wink), Ms. Rollins couldn’t make it due to a scheduling conflict. Really? Becuase I seem to remember being told that she was going to be there at the previous months meeting. So having scheduled to be there a month in advance, Ms. Rollins suddenly remembered another event? Let me cast my thoughts out there and you decide. Could it be that Mike Castle contacted Sussex County Chair, Ron Sams, and asked to be allowed to speek at the last minute, and could it also be possible that when Michele Rollins heard this that she backed out? I think this is exactly what happened. The question then becomes, why? Here are a few of my thoughts on it. I think that even Michele Rollins , who has been endorsed by the GOP to run for the U.S. House seat that is currently held by Mike Castle, is afraid to be too closely linked to Mr. Castle’s liberal voting record. I think that Michele Rollins is locked in a primary race of her own against a more conservative candidate Glen Urquhart and can’t risk being tied to the hip of the all-powerful OZ moderate liberal Mike Castle. Mr. Castle was there for nothing more than a RA RA speech, it would have been a perfect time to slap Ms. Rollins on the back and tell everyone what a great candidate she was. So why would she back out? I believe that this shows that even some of those who would be on the ticket with Mike Castle fear his extremely liberal voting record. The same as Mike Castle himself cannot defend it, neither can other GOP candidates. It was completely unannounced. At least to the average member, which I consider myself. Frank
As a committeeman is Sussex County, I believe you hit the nail right on the head.
The democrats have Obama and no democrat wants him to show up and speak for their campaign. And Oh well, we have Castle, the superRHINO.

    Frank, well……nevermind

    Question # 87

Which doesn’t belong with the others:

    a.) Castle
    b.) Rollins
    c.) Sussex County

  4. on 12 Aug 2010 at 08:424fightingbluehen

Rollins calls herself a conservative, Castle calls himself a moderate. I believe them both. If I were Rollins I would stay clear of Castle in Sussex too.
By the way, Michelle Rollins does belong in Sussex. Her and her family have done more for Sussex county than any carpetbagger like Urquhart could ever dream of doing.
Her deceased husband was a legend in this part of Delaware.
Her detractors try and portray Rollins as some country clubber from Newcastle. This is due to simple ignorance , or they are just plain liars.

Do you remember what happened last time you uncorked one of these wackjob ideas Frank? You got bashed by the entire site and TW made you look like a fool. Stick to writing about current issues like the mosque post, I thought that was a heck of a piece of writing.

I went back and looked at the email I got from SHUPE on 8/9/10 early in the morn. It had a list of those scheduled to appear that evening. He had Bill Lee, Joe Booth, a couple of other candidates for local offices.

Which, Frank, seems to negate your contention but if so, it brings up another problem.

First, I too seem to recall some mention that Rollins was going to be at the August Sussex GOP meeting but it’s just a vague memory; I could find no documentation of my memory. However, the email sent out by SHUPe the morning of that meeting did NOT have Rollins as a guest speaker. I must assume that Rollins was either never scheduled for that night or that she dropped out BEFORE early in the morn of the meeting, before that email went out.

William Lee? When I read it I thought it odder than all get-out. What a weird choice for a guest speaker this busy election season, I thought when I got the email.

And, indeed, William Lee did NOT speak that night, correct?

So Mike Castle could have called that morniing verifyiing an intention to come in and Lee was put on the mass email to discourage riff-raff such as myself. At which point Rollins would have heard about Castle and declined to attend because, well she wasn’t on the email. She also, I know this, might not have ever been scheduled to speak but still I speculate to annoy the fabulous cookie and good ole TW.

Whatever the case, the Sussex county GOP, who must be so damn proud of themselves, lied and deceived us to give Mike Castle calm and good behavior for his royal visit…I don’t know how they can sleep at night.

I’ll end by saying that I will pay a month’s pay anytime you see Michelle Rollins and Mike Castle together up until the coming primary.

Cause I have no proof and despite the wonderful and witty sarcasm of the fabulous cookie and the desperate denials of good ole TW, I believe in the gut of my political junkee heart that Rollins will avoid Castle with all in her.

It’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Pat, I thought Frank could spin out the crazy conspiracy yarns, but I think yours is even better. Somebody watched too many episodes of the X-Files back in the day.

  8. on 12 Aug 2010 at 14:028Pat Fish

I never watched an X-file episode in my life.

I do know that Mike Castle spoke at the local GOP meeting this past Monday, 8/9/10. I do know that the email sent out that same morning did NOT advertise the Castle speaking engagement.

These are facts, not X-file episodes. FACTS.

Now I don’t know why the email sent out that same morning advertised William Lee as the speaker that night with no mention of Mike Castle as guest speaker.

I personally think there was an effort to keep away the riff-raff like myself. I don’t think that speculation is too far-fetched but I’ll allow as yon mileage might vary.

But my belief is based on FACTS…not made up fiction stuff.

Usually, go with me here, when a big name is scheduled to speak at a meeting, an email is not normally sent out that same morning with a different name.

Silly me for thinking that’s odd.

  9. on 12 Aug 2010 at 14:269cookie

    Pat,
I don’t know what meeting you were at (or what planet you were on), but Bill Lee was there and he did speak.

  10. on 12 Aug 2010 at 15:3810Pat Fish

    cookie,

okay….that remark about the planet I’m on….you really shouldn’t make me laugh so hard. I been laughing for the better part of an hour.

But I shall shut up now. On my earlier comment, on THIS thread, I did query if Bill Lee did, indeed, speak. No one answered and I ASS-U-ME’d that he didn’t speak. I accept your correction humbly and shall correct my assertions now that I am hereby corrected.

So okay, the email went out that morning advertising Bill Lee, Joe Booth and others as speakers at the GOP meeting that night. No mention was made of Mike Castle.

At this point I will accept the prevailing, although no one has officially reported such, but the prevailing wisdom is that Castle freed up some time on his slate and his attendance was a surprise, learned, evidently, after the morning email went out. I will ASS-U-ME that the Sussex GOP would most certainly have put a blurb in about Castle’s attendance had they known it at the time the mass emailing went out.

I know that had I known that Castle was going to be there I would certainly had attended. Too bad my county’s GOP didn’t have enough time to notify me which, some would argue, might be the fault of the Castle people.

And I wouldn’t have caused any trouble either because I’m too scared of Kate.

  11. on 12 Aug 2010 at 18:0011Frank Knotts

Okay, let me first say that Bill Lee did in fact speek at the meeting , as a stand in for Michele Rollins, he went on for about ten to fifteen mimutes telling us all how to play nice during a primary, and how bad they are for the party. Really?
Pat as for Michele Rollins being on the schedule to speek. Well I don’t know when she officially backed out, but I have a copy of the agenda for Monday night’s meeting, handed to me as I entered the meeting, and Michele Rollins is on it as a speaker. So the change came so late that they didn’t bother to print new ones.

  12. on 12 Aug 2010 at 20:2112Pat Fish

    Well that is interesting, Frank.

although you say the change came too late to change the agenda note that I did receive an email early that morning with Bill Lee on it. So they had to know around at least ten am or so that Rollins wouldn’t be there. Maybe since the agendas had to be printed they couldn’t reprint the things. Emails, however, are correctable at the touch of the keys. Point being they knew at the latest by ten am that Rollins wouldn’t be there.

Which leaves us wondering when they discovered Castle would be appearing as…well Castle did, indeed, speak. IF Lee was a replacement for Rollins, and Rollins bowed out because of a Castle appearance, not that I agree with this but I certainly would not be surprised…than the Sussex GOP likely did know about Castle’s iintent to speak. You’dthink they’d have put it in the email but again, I suspect they wanted to keep riff raff like myself away.

But hey, I don’t know. I only know that as a way of thanking the very conservative Sussex county GOP for nominating him, just two days ago Castle and the Vietnamese nut were the only two Repubs to vote for what…the fourth, fifth…stimulus bill is it now?

It’s a tough job carrying Castle’s water. The Sussex GOP must be so damn proud of themselves.

  13. on 13 Aug 2010 at 08:4513Rick

By the way, Michelle Rollins does belong in Sussex. Her and her family have done more for Sussex county…

I’m not interested in ‘her family.’ What has she ‘done’ for Sussex County, specifically?

Of course, some would say Markell and Carper have ‘done’ a lot for Sussex County…so I should vote for them?

I can’t wait ’till Urquhart kicks her ample country club rear-end.
