In What World…

…is this decent journalism? This is the front page of Delaware Online. In what world is a 16% increase in your taxes considered being “spared” or “catching a break?” EVERYONE over $60,000 had their taxes raised. So those making $150,000+ got hit, too. Now, thanks to the News Journal, people all over the state will be outraged that the top earners didn’t feel any pain when they did. Shoddy.

That is misleading.
However, there are those, like me, who would have preferred a more progressive approach as opposed to a flat 16% increase on all taxpayers.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the current personal income tax flat above $60K AGI?
Well hello Mr. Burris,
I called Bill Colley this afternoon, not long after Frank talked in fact.
I was talking about you but I graciously didn’t mention your name.
“Just one more year,” you told me. “Just one more year and Mike Castle will be gone.”
Well he’s NOT gone and during that time the man was part and parcel in the destruction of this country.
Now he’ll be senator because it’s all about him.
This is what happens when you put Democrats in the Republican party and let them run for office.
Pat — I have no idea what you are saying, and I’m not sure you do either.
Perhaps you’d prefer Beau Biden be the Senator from Delaware. Good luck with that one.
I buy the News Journal, once a week, without fail…..every Sunday. I like the TV guide, and the comics (’Perspectives’).
Mike Castle is in office because fawning sycophants sing his praises like a chorus of castratti. At a recent Lincoln Day Dinner, talk of Castle for Senate had some supporters giggling like schoolgirls. We have already heard Castle sing the praises of Ms. Sotomayor. Imagine his votes on future judicial nominees.
We should expect elected official to listen to the electorate and not pander to a few in high places to keep their place at the public trough.
No doubt party (sic) leaders will do all they can to discourage any promary challenge to their favorite. Castle can be assured of a raise every year but what about people losing jobs or paying ludicrously higher energy bills?
Perhaps if party leaders would deal with issues instead of playing cult-of-personalty politics, the Republican brand would not be so tarnished.
