As of this moment, DelawarePolitics.net belongs to my friend David Anderson. It is in his care, and the care of his team, that I entrust the product of four and a half years of effort.
It’s been a great ride, with ups and downs and the occasional subpoena threat (mine) and lawsuit threat (Fraud Boy’s). I want to thank those who have posted here, particularly Smitty & DA, who have been with me the longest. I also want to thank the original blog crew: Hube, Matthews, Dana & Jason. You guys have made the Delaware blogosphere something to be reckoned with. Last night, when the House gave a rousing applause to the idea that Mike was shutting down proved that we have some impact. I particularly need to thank Dana Garrett, who though we have had a rocky relationship, is the person I have to refer to as my Blogfather. It was my discovery of DW that led to my entering the fray.
Today also marks the end of my involvement in politics from a partisan angle. I will now focus in the public arena solely on improving the quality of life for the small business community. It is that community which bore the brunt of the catastrophe that this legislative session dumped on us, and they have lost their collective voice. There is no one out there advocating solely for Delaware’s small businesses, and frankly no one advocating effectively for business in general. I don’t know how exactly I will achieve it, but I didn’t know what I was going to do with DP when I started either, and it turned out okay.
A clarifying note: I am not leaving the GOP. I will continue to proudly be a registered Republican. However, my loyalties in the public arena will now be first to the small business community, and to helping create the best environment possible for those businesses to succeed. Of course, that will mean supporting a lot of good Republicans. But it will not mean supporting Republicans simply because they are Republicans.
In summary, I’m here today glad to have been a Delaware blogger, and better for it. It is time to hand it over to the new crew here at DP and the guys over at Resolute Determination to take it to the next level. I probably won’t stay away forever, but when I do come back, it will be as an occasional commenter only. Best of luck to you all.

Good luck, Dave. Hopefully, you’ll still comment around the Delaware blogosphere.
It’s been a hell of a ride, that’s for sure. Obviously, as promised, I am commenting all over the place and knowing how this has infected me as it did you, I expect to see you freely commenting everywhere, too! You’re addicted, admit it, and you shall be free!
Actually, I’ve installed a program on my computer that blocks blog sites from my browser in my pathetic attempt to quit cold turkey. This will be the last site to go on that list.
You net-nannied yourself?
Good luck. It’s like having a kid left alone with a full cookie jar and only a warning from Mom of “no!” I should know, my cookie jar is almost empty!!!
BTW…HB117 DIED in Senate Committee!!! WOOOO!
I’m sure you will continue your record of making an impact, Dave. Best wishes!
All the best, Dave! I certainly will miss you, mi amigo. Stay in touch.
Thanks for all you have done here and thanks for your future efforts. Small business can use all the help it can get in this state right now.
Thanks for giving us a place to argue the issues.
You are a tremendous person and a great voice for the cause of a free and prosperous land. It has been a pleasure. I will stay in touch.
Thanks. My best to you.
Thanks for all your efforts here and elsewhere, Dave.
As Senator Roth always said : in the arena of public service even one person can make a difference.
You have and I am certain will continue to do so. As a small business owner I am very happy to hear you will be focusing your talents on looking out for us, where others have powerful lobby groups doing their bidding.
Cheers!
TN
Dear Dave,
Thanks for your work and contributions and “staying in the arena.” Although we certainly have disagreed vehemently and inexorably on several issues, I have come to respect your writing and your integrity.
One thing that we both have in common is being small business owners/entrepreneurs in Delaware. I applaud your new direction and perhaps we’ll meet someday at a DEDO event. I also hope that you understand that helping businesses grow and thrive in Delaware isn’t just about lowering business taxes.
Wishing you all the best,
anonone.
Well, I’m against it…we need all of the good government voices we can get.
Maria, he won’t be able to stay away. The election is coming next year.
Look – Dave quits yet another thing- loser
I know this should have been a lifetime commitment. Nearly 5 years and insuring the institution continues just shows how unstable he is. He is a loser for sure. Snark included.
There is always one. I guess it shows that the person is having withdraws already. Never fear, we are here.
Nah, David. Just look at the timing of you lifting the ban and the cowardly troll with the track record of that behavior makes a comment.
Good luck, Dave. Don’t be a stranger.
