Gov Markell is showing his business acumen.
He has a product that ONLY Delaware can deliver this side of the Mississippi and he can deliver it to market quickly.
I know there are passionate arguments on both sides, but the bottom line is gambling is already part of our revenue base.
I love that argument, we are already sliding down the slippery slope so lets keep going. The guys in Conneticut tried to use that logic for having a government restructuring of the Catholic Church. I think the arguments matter. Whether you are for the legislation or against it we need to legislate based on a better reason than just that there is something similar already on the books.
“The whore and gambler,
By the State, licensed
Seals that nation’s Fate.”
….Wm. Blake

…but keep going:
By “winners” and “losers” Blake is using gambling as a metaphor for capitalism. Blake wrote during the unregulated beginning of the Industrial Revolution.
(sorry, I am a Blake fan, I couldn’t resist).
