Hillary In: Biden Out in 2012?

Aug 2nd, 2010 by Tennessee Walker

So now Joe Biden has graduated from merely being Delaware’s embarassment to our Nation’s embarassment.   Other people have noticed.
Realistic Democrats are concerned about Obama’s chances in 2012. They are not inspired by a fumbling, bumbling, gaffe prone VP at Obama’s side.  Obama is in trouble and concerned Democrats want a change, including Doug Wilder the former Governor of Virginia.

Wilder’s suggestion is to replace Joe Biden with someone who actually has the respect of some.  That would be Hillary Clinton.  Wilder is impressed with Hillary and not impressed with Biden.  I will not attempt to paraphrase Wilder.  He states his thoughts better than I can so here is Wilder’s view of Biden:

“The financial crisis that began in September 2008 fundamentally changed the political conversation. Biden has not distinguished himself, other than to be more prone to gaffes — which had been cited by some skeptics when Obama first announced his choice. Many had hoped a new office and new responsibilities would produce a more serious and sobered reliability in the man. Unfortunately, they have not.

I will refrain from running through the list of Biden gaffes. Not because I dismiss them, but because late-night comedians have made them legendary. I realize many say that he brings some more humanity to this administration. But there are too many YouTube moments.

Even recently, he has continued to undermine what little confidence the public may have had in him.

During Biden’s June trip to Florida, for example, the presumptive Democratic gubernatorial nominee Alex Sink, was so upset that she told POLITICO the whole trip was a “screw-up” and she was “embarrassed” by his speech. The Democratic Party is trying to elect this woman governor of a swing state — one Obama will need in 2012 — during the middle of the oil spill crisis in the Gulf. No vice president should leave such ignominy in his wake.

A few weeks later, Biden comes south and says at a fundraiser, “[T]he heavy lifting is over,” and now the campaigning can begin.

Really? Has the crude oil off the Gulf Coast disappeared? Is the unemployment rate back to its mid-1990s lows? Is the deficit magically under control? Are the president’s approval ratings in the mid-60s? Do large majorities of Americans believe we are on the right track?

I don’t think so. But none of that seems to matter to Biden. People around this country are hurting, and Biden has told them Democrats in Congress and the White House have done all they can or will for them.”

Here is Wilder’s complete article:  http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0810/40523.html

Biden has been saying dumb things for 38 years and thanks to the News Journal no one in Delaware knew about it.  Now that Obama is in trouble others are noticing.

Personally I want Biden on the 2012 ballot.  Obama and Rahm Emmanuel can then blame their loss on Joe.

Let’s hope that replacing Biden with someone more intelligent won’t be all it takes to get fascist Obama re-elected in 2012. If it is, we’re in more trouble than I thought.

  2. on 02 Aug 2010 at 14:162Tennessee Walker

I am not sure that Hillary is more intelligent. Hillary is just not as prone to say what passes through her mind.

  3. on 02 Aug 2010 at 15:223Pat Fish

I must suppose Wilder won’t be invited to any more Biden bbq’s.

I’m betting he was asked to make this public statement as a Democrat in a district that will welcome such comments. Asked by other Dems, maybe even the President.

  4. on 02 Aug 2010 at 15:264fightingbluehen

Hillary may not be as prone to gaffes as Biden , but she runs a close second. Just Google Hillary gaffes.
I don’t think Hillary is going to take the place of Biden.
I think there is a more pre-planned position for her.
Hillary could have made it a knock down drag out fight in the Democrat primary and possibly damage both their chances of a win. Obama had the delegates he needed but it wasn’t a done deal.
My half baked conspiracy theory is that a deal was cut.
One might say the deal was the Secretary of State job, but I believe she is more ambitious than that.
I think that she will run for President, and she won’t even have to contest Obama. He won’t run as part of the deal they made for Hillary dropping out of the primary.
The only thing that the wizzards of smart have to do is come up with a plausible reason to give to the public why he has to drop out. Health issues ,his families safety, blah blah blah.

Other than her Honduras commentary screw-up last summer, I think Mrs. Clinton has endeared herself to more Americans than prior.. No doubt, I bet, she will go back for one last try at the White House.

  6. on 02 Aug 2010 at 17:236Que Pasa

Ask Hillary about her Bosnia sniper-fire experience…that’s all I need to know to confirm that she is a delusional harpy, who would say anything to get more power and thus, is unfit for any office, let alone the one she currently bartered for.

Secy. of State to V.P. is a demotion- no way.

  8. on 02 Aug 2010 at 18:088Tennessee Walker

The democrats want Hillary on the ticket in 2012. Get with the program. !!!!!

You gotta admit Biden is the most popular politician in Delaware history. The majority of voters in Delaware time after time give him a big thumbs up. Including the bid margin for Obama and Biden here in Delaware. Call him what you want but his is above all a winner. You may think he is an embarrassment, but most of the people here think Joe Biden is the quintessential local boy made good. I would match his brain power with your gal Sarah Palin anytime.

  10. on 02 Aug 2010 at 22:2910Jody Sweeney

Sarah Palin, speaking to a national TV show, saying that the president does not have the cajones that the Arizona Governor does, is not presidential. She is a trashmouth of epic proportions, and would have continued the Bush tradition of alienating the USA from all other countries. Image her saying that the Prime Minister of Israel does not have cajones. Truly an embarrassment.

  11. on 02 Aug 2010 at 22:3111anon

But of course you thought you should replace him in 2002. Right Bill Holt?

This is proof positive Holt has suffered some kind of brain damage. As if his type of degenerate liberalism is not itself enough of a mental disorder.

  12. on 02 Aug 2010 at 22:5712Tennessee Walker

“You gotta admit Biden is the most popular politician in Delaware history. The majority of voters in Delaware time after time give him a big thumbs up. ”

WH take your argument to Doug Wilder and the National Democrats. Most of this article quoted Doug Wilder. Maybe you were too much in shock to notice this.
I acknowledge that Joe Biden is popular in Delaware and has been given a free pass by the New Journal Liberal crew.
Doug Wilder is under no such illusion. The truth is he is telling it like it is. Sorry if the first African American Governor of the Old Confederacy offends you. I would call you a racist for not believing Doug Wilder but charges of rascism are part of the liberal playbook.

Just pointing out that Joe Biden is a very successful well liked person in Delaware. I don’t think we should make politicians so afraid of misspeaking that they end up saying nothing.

  14. on 03 Aug 2010 at 08:4514Rick

I would match his brain power with your gal Sarah Palin anytime…

So would I- they’re both in the same league.

  15. on 03 Aug 2010 at 10:1115Tennessee Walker

“I don’t think we should make politicians so afraid of misspeaking that they end up saying nothing.”

Biden manages to misspeak and say nothing all at the same time. :)

  16. on 03 Aug 2010 at 11:1216WH

Who can ever forget Biden singing “bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran”? I used to think Biden was a boob, but in recent years it’s more like “compared to who?”. However, if Obama looks to be in any serious trouble come 2012 pushing the reset button with Hillary Clinton as a running mate is indeed a nice Ace to have up his sleeve. Would it not be kind of cool for Biden to be Secretary of State as a way to ease out without being kicked in the ass? 2012 will be all about compared to who?

  17. on 03 Aug 2010 at 11:2917Michael P. Borgia

    Match Biden and Palin???

She cleaned his clock the first time. Why would Biden subject himself to such embarrassment again?

  18. on 03 Aug 2010 at 11:3518Michael P. Borgia

Jody…how can you make the ridiculous statement that Bush alienated the U.S. from other countries?

His diplomatic efforts produced the historic 15-0 Security Council vote authorizing the use of force against Iraq.

He formed the Security Proliferation Initiative, as a competitor to the Security Council.

He brought more than forty nations into the Coalition Of The Willing?

He restored our relationship with Japan, so badly damaged by the Clintons.

His diplomatic and humanitarians efforts in Africa has made us more friends there than at any time in our history, and virtually stopped the spead of AIDS. Bush is a hero in most of northern Africa.

If you want to discuss alienating the world, ask the Poles, Georgians, Czechs, Israelis, British, Germans and Japanese what they think of Barack Obama.

I suspect you would not like the answer.

  19. on 03 Aug 2010 at 12:3419Pat Fish

Also Mr. Borgia, I would also point out that the fine, fine liar Ms. Sweeny goes on to suggest a scenario where Palin would insult the Prime Minister of Israel and what short memories these libs have.

It weren’t that long ago that Obamer left Natanyahou sitting alone in the White House while he left and had dinner with his family. Something we wouldn’t do with our despised Aunt Agnes upon a surprise visit, much less Head of State to Head of State. Obamer’s gaffe caused such grief that, get this, NINTY SEVEN SENATORS HAD TO SEND ISRAEL AN AFFIRMATION OF US SOLIDARITY after the incident.

The libs, including the Jody lib, have selective memories. In this case, heh, daring to compare an imaginary scenario with a very real one involving her own guy!

  20. on 03 Aug 2010 at 16:4720Michael P. Borgia

I’d have gone into more detail, Pat. But my lunch break was almost over.

This conservative had to go back to work to earn money, so that a liberal may redistribute it.
