Happy Resurrection Day

How Great Thou Art
Today is a special day for those of us who believe in the Living God who cares about humanity in a personal way and not some mystical “Sky Daddy”. That understanding informs all of life.
His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI gave us a clarion call to escape the desert of godlessness which is infecting much of western civilization. He reminded us that we when we refuse to submit to the values which bound us together that we see the brutality that humanity descends into. It is truly a desert of godlessness.
I have seen better. I have seen the transformed lives brought about by the connection of the human spirit with the Spirit of God. I never tire of seeing people who are left empty and broken by secularism or its pale companion of liberal religiosity find true fulfillment and faith. I can’t even number the drug addicts freed. The alcoholics delivered. The broken lives mended. No matter how far gone a person seems to be; it is only one step back into his arms. That can only be accomplished by a living savior. Be blessed and keep the faith.

Not to mention the people killed and tortured through the centuries. The riches stolen. The cultures destroyed. The slaves beaten. And the children molested.
All for a dead “savior”.
Keep the faith, indeed.
You must be talking about secular socialism in the 20th Century. No greater damage has been done to humanity than by the forces of godless secularism. BTW enjoy the Carrie Underwood video. The lady can sing.
Dave, you should study some history. Your beliefs have as much truth as the Easter Bunny.
No greater damage has been done to humanity than by the forces of religion. No question, hands down.
But keep practicing your ritualistic cannibalism and blood drinking and worshipping your torture instruments. And have a nice day.
You too, Have a nice day. Maybe one day we can take some time to exam history, you may be surprised.
BTW I know some may be offended by our anonymous friend. That is why I considered turning comments off on this post and letting people argue about the next one.
I choose not to do so because I believe Christianity has always been about the challenge. Christ was mocked even on the cross and as His Holiness said, “Jesus is humiliated in new ways even today when things that are most holy and profound in the faith are being trivialized, the sense of the sacred is allowed to erode.”
“Values and norms that held societies together and drew people to higher ideals are laughed at and thrown overboard. Jesus continues to be ridiculed.”
It has always been true, but that alone is testament to his insight. He said that it would happen. The Gospel about a popularity contest. It is about eternal truth.
Every secularist who mocks your faith just proves it by showing the Lord’s wisdom. Everytime you are mocked, you have a greater reward in heaven.
Being able to answer for your faith is a part of our faith. That is why I choose not to censure any comments. Please don’t take offense. Consider it your chance to practice Christianity and Christian forgiveness and tolerance and not just celebrate it.
Wow. How do you tolerate the presence of us unbelievers even walking down the street?
Your sarcasm sort of misses the point. We celebrate the opportunity to engage with non believers. It is not something we tolerate. No person is any more valuable than another in God’s eye nor in mine for the most part ( I still have issues with murderers and child rapists may His grace cover my short comings.).
I never tire of seeing people … find true fulfillment and faith.”
So are the rest of us just a bunch of bleeping idiots who don’t get the Truth?
“We celebrate the opportunity to engage with non believers.”
When your only purpose behind engagement is conversion, that’s not engagement. Try opening your mind a wee bit and talk with someone who believes differently just for the sake of talking and learning. Or can your Truth not stand against that?
