Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day
May 7th, 2010 by David Anderson
The pressures on the military family are enormous. The person that often keeps it together is the wife or husband who puts up with frequent deployments, sleepless nights, and seperations. They have to be ready to it all in moments notice then reintergrate their spouse upon return. Some have to help their spouse work through Combat stress. Some have work through their own feelings of abandonment (no it isn’t but the feelings are what they are) when their spouse isn’t their for some problem or big moment such as a birth or death. The important thing is that they do.
Thanks to the military spouse, we can have a career military which allows the American military to be the most effective fighting force in history. Without the military family, we would be stuck rebuilding every few years with draftees who we train then leave us in two or three years. The modern military is so much more complex than the military of just 20 years ago that it is vital we have stability. The only way that can happen is by service members building families and having a life outside of the military.
I thank not only the miltary spouse and family, but I urge all of you to do the same today and this weekend. Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day.

I can only say “Thank You So Much David!”
You are a great American!
As a military spouse and a Blue Star Wife, this post is a wonderful tribute for today’s observance of Military Spouse Appreciation Day.
Ironically, I find myself in the same position as my Mother who watched my Father deploy to both Korea and Vietnam and countless other countries across the globe on various assignments. She showed great dignity and courage throughout the years my Father served his country. I know she was his strength and stability when he was gone and when he came home.
All the military wives and husbands are to be commended and thanked for their selfless contributions as well as the quiet sacrifices they make for our exceptional men and women in uniform. Just reading this brings great comfort to a spouse when their loved one is thousands of miles away.
May is Military Appreciation Month, so let’s all take a moment to say thank you to a Veteran you may know or someone who is serving our country at this time. Walk up, shake their hand if you see them in uniform, I cannot tell you how much they appreciate the recognition.
Also, WMAL in Washington, D.C. is sponsoring the following Thanks a Million Program for our military, you can simply Text THANKS and your message to 62582. It’s a simple message, but one that can make a world of difference. The reality, though, is that reaching the goal of a million thanks will never happen without you. Text THANKS and your message to 62582. Standard text rates apply.
Once again – God Bless You David Anderson and as always, God Bless America!
