Judson Bennett’s Coastal Network announced that Realtor Ruth Briggs King will be the Republican candidate for the State House’s 37th district special election. Hopefully on Monday night at the Sussex GOP’s monthly meeting, she will take the podium for a few minutes to introduce herself to those that don’t know her well.
Over the weekend the Democrats announced their candidate, Public Defender Rob Robinson. No other candidates have announced.

I’m thinking maybe because the Sussex GOP uses the realtor offices for their monthly meetings might be why this candidate got the nod over others.
Although hey, I’ll vote for her. But the connections a bit obvious here.
the sussex GOP….I love Ron Samms but he needs to retire and take care of his wife.
So the GOP nominates a candidate and that gets one comment. A post with videos of people at a rally gets 31 comments. Interesting contrast.
The Change of meeting location from Del Tech is recent, within the last few months. I can assure you that this was not a factor in picking Ruth. She has a ton of community ties and experience in running for public office. She and Brian Pettyjohn both were very active in the last special election. Ruth probably more experience being active in the Sussex Gop.

noman 8 of the 32 posts on the aforementioned thread are yours! That accounts for 25 % of the total coming from one Individual with another significant percentage consisting of folks debating/refuting your assertions. I guess you get surprised at the response of the bees when you jam a stick in the hive.
There will be plenty more coming on the Special Election. The announcement of the Republican was on a Sunday when some folks have something better to do than to stand by a computer screen.
uh… I’m anon, not noman.
anon, apology to you and yet another reason I need my reading glasses on when posting past 9 pm.
I will say that the number of posts is due to the back and forth nature of the Silent no more threads.
A lack of posts is not neccessarily a lack of interest. A surplus can in certain instances be the result of contentiousness. Check out Dave Burris posts on kavips.
Is the GOP choosing someone who will be answering questions from community groups this time? I ask because last time the GOP candidate for the Senate race did not. I’d hate to think that the GOP House candidate might be dinged for not doing so in this race.
Evan Q – It was the Democrat who was accused of dodging debates last time, not the Republican.
On that I disagree with Evan Q. The Republican candidate was all over the place and spoke with a lot of people and groups including every candidate’s forum. In 3 weeks, you can not make every meeting. The candidates in the 37th won’t either, but they don’t have as large an area with which to contend.
I tend to think it is a good choice. Most of us are waiting to learn more about her.
We also wish Mrs. Suzanne Sams a continued recovery. I understand Pat’s compassion and concern. I would point out that he is quite active in taking care of her. I don’t think that he is required to lock himself in the house to accomplish that. Her progress from a coma to her present state testifies to that.
For those who don’t know, Mrs. Sams is recovering from a fall and related complications which occurred in January.
Posts with a lot of comments usually have a lot of readers, but I have also noticed that some posts without many comments can have just as many or more. As Tennessee pointed out, comments equate more with controversy or passion stirred up than readership. The Singapore health post was number one in its week and is still generating readership, but it did not get a huge number of comments. If it were merely about comments then I wouldn’t do the regional round up. I do it because we get a lot of readers and it increases the regional readership on Friday which tended to be a slower day before it started.
When you see that the Tea bag event has generated 62 comments on one post and 37 or more on another and a lot on other, yes you are right that it is quiet popular. It may not have interested everyone, but it did interest the majority and brought new people.
For the record Dave’s post added an extra 700 hits that day over the previous day so it was both controversial and well read.
This is a critical election and the Republican candidate needs all the help that can be provided.
The Senate win showed that money and cult-of-personality cannot win.
The choice is between Markell and the people as much as between the two candidates facing each other. A Republican defeat means giving Markell and his buddies legislative carte blanche.
can anybody explain why pick the voice of the manufactured housing landlords? No many manufact homeowners in the district? Is Terry Strine back at it?
