For Sale – $30 Million OBO

Feb 19th, 2010 by David Anderson

- by Kevin Wade 18 February 2010
Candidate for the People’s Seat for Delaware in the US House

My motivating interest in running for Congress is to see that everyday Delawareans get a square deal from a fair deck. For too long, “We The People” seem to get dealt hands with no winning cards. Meanwhile the favored friends of the few in power find an “extra ace up their sleeve” or a smooth ride on a rock star jet paid on our nickel.

I have been following the bon voyages of The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. As Speaker, Nancy is the most powerful person in the US House. The Democrats since gaining control in 2006 call their boss, “Madame Speaker”. She is the voice and face of the Democrat Party in the People’s House. She is the Democrat’s Democrat and the liberal’s liberal.

Four years now she has been serving the needs of everyday folks right here in the USA. A true champion of everyday Americans; the working men and women. Where injustice is found, Speaker Pelosi is on it. Tireless; at least according to her press releases and fellow Democrats.

Being Speaker of the House and the brightest light in the liberal Democrats’ Showcase of Stars has certain advantages. As those of us who have read the Constitution know, the House is supposed to be responsible for spending the people’s tax money. Apparently Speaker Pelosi considers the people’s tax money to be her ticket to her very own magic carpet ride, Gulfstream executive jet style.

Now I won’t criticize anyone for owning a Gulfstream. If you’ve earned it your way, spend it your way. Flying in leather bound comfort above the clouds has its advantages and you’ll never lose your luggage.

My issue with Madame Speaker is that she is not spending HER money. She is spending OUR money. She is spending a LOT of our money to fly in leather bound comfort at 30,000 feet between her office in Washington and her estate in the California Wine Country. A round trip on the Speaker’s magic carpet costs in the neighborhood of $55,000. She likes to go home every weekend. She needs to rest before taking up the next week’s fight for the common man.

Wait there’s more! What fun is it to fly in your very own executive jet without your very own custom catered “in flight services?” You know, booze and food and cabin staff to see that your red wines have time to breathe and your white Zin is properly chilled.

Apparently, Madame Speaker needs liberal amounts of refreshment and nourishment. It’s tiring devising new ways in a health bill to stand between you and your doctor.

Recent documents emerged showing “We The People” paid over $100,000, that’s right one hundred thousand dollars, for booze and food on Speaker Pelosi’s jet in the past 2 years.
It seems she likes to caucus mid-flight with the Honorable Jim Beam and the Honorable Johnnie Walker.

It’s hard to imagine eating and drinking that much. I’ve taken a few trips on planes and can get half way around the world on Diet Coke and peanuts sitting in row 96. But that’s just me.

I am a conservative Republican and I pay for my own tickets.

I have a covenant with the people of Delaware, as their future Congressman, to do well for them not do well off them. One my covenants is to sell Nancy’s jet.

I want to see it parked alongside Route 13 at the Harrington Fair Grounds with a cardboard sign in the cockpit window. “For Sale … $30 million … Or Best Offer …. Owner Leaving Town.”
That should do it.

Bon Voyage Speaker Pelosi. Bon Voyage!

Kevin, your basic premise that the tax and spend democrats are irresponsible when it comes to spending our tax dollars is correct…

However, your basic research is faulty. The Gulfstream wasn’t good enough for Queen Nancy. She flies a 757 these days.

  2. on 19 Feb 2010 at 10:172Rick

    She thinks she’s Yuri Andropov.

She also reminds me of an old Mad Magazine spread, satirizing 70-year-old women who try to look and act like teenagers…tight slacks, heavy makeup, that ‘oh I’m soooo bored’ look. Puh-leeze.

Of course, few teens have ‘Moon River’ on their i-Pod, but at least she looks the part (I hear she hides her AARP card under her Saks credit card).

    Nancy Pelosi, America’s ‘Botox Queen.’

  3. on 19 Feb 2010 at 10:173phil

Wait, I’m confused? Is Pelosi running for Delaware’s Congressional seat?

  4. on 19 Feb 2010 at 10:194Tennessee Walker

I remember reading the article. My recollection is that the bar was stocked with premium liquor including the premium Johnny Walker Scotch, Jack Damiels, Premium Grey Goose Vodka etc. Maybe Nancy wasn’t drinking all that much. She just likes spending taxpayer dollars on the better things in life!!!!!

Wasn’t Nancy going to end the “Culture of Corruption”?

  5. on 19 Feb 2010 at 10:285phil

If you want to bitch about Nancy Pelosi that’s great, but if you want to be the next Congressman from Delaware, I suggest you expend some energy in that direction.

I am type rated in the B 757 and it is a fine ride which in the airline configuration holds 172 people and costs over $100 million to purchase.

What about the children? Couldn’t that money go to the children instead to a fat cat politician?

    Another limousine liberal.

Ouch- another Limbaugh Clone. Weird. Does he have Pelosi pictures taped to his walls with scribble on them?

How long does it take Castle to get home to his constituents in Delaware. How long does it take Far West Representatives to get home? Who does the Constitution say is third in line for the Presidency in case of disaster.

I try so hard to get back to being with the GOP and all I get is weird stuff that sounds just exactly what I hear on from commercial talk show hosts. Any real leaders out there? Hello?

  8. on 19 Feb 2010 at 12:078think123

Does anybody know about the requirements The GOP congress passed as part of post 9/11 Homeland Security. The requirement for top government officials to use secure means of travel. Look it up. What do think? The Speaker just decided to by a big new private plane? If your desire for power exceeds your respect for truth – you got problems.

  9. on 19 Feb 2010 at 13:419David Anderson

Phil, if you vote for a Democrat, you are voting for Pelosi. Did you forget that the speaker of the house is elected by the house. It is the first important vote that a Congressman casts.

There are 4 of them that the Democrat Congress decided to buy. That was because public outcry made them cut it from 8. That was not the GOP.
I actually have no problem with the Speaker of the House having secure travel. No one would say that the President should travel commercial. My problem is that she has abused the process. She embarrasses those of us who would defend legislative supremacy with private military flights for her family. She is not content with military flights but demands a fleet of private planes to be ready for her. What gives? Defend her if you wish, but I have a feeling the public will side more with Mr. Wade.

    Kevin –
First let me thank you for accepting the Founders Values invitation to introduce yourself at the Feb. 26th meeting at the Newark Senior Center! (Meeting is free and open to the public for those of you interested.) We’re so glad to have heard back from so many candidates for the U.S. House and U.S. Senate and we look forward to hearing from all of you.

Next, let’s address Princess Pelosi’s travel needs. I know, thanks to published reports, that both Senator Chuck Schumer and Kristin Gillibrand fly on commercial jets. Why should the Speaker of the House be different? Joe Biden, Tom Carper and Mike Castle used AMTRAK for Gods sake. Are Senators and Congresspersons that are not “Speaker of the House” just throw aways? They are the peoples representatives. Should they all then have their own private transportation?

Here’s a thought…if Princess Pelosi simply cannot fly with the “public” for safety concerns, why not do what a lot of military folks do and take a MAC flight? (MAC flights, for those unfamiliar are space available military flights. There are flights all across the country by the U.S. Airforce that could carry her) I’m sure that the United States Airforce is more than capable of protecting her. She could even commission an entire portion of a commerical aircraft. If an L.A. celebrity can have their names unlisted on flight manifests and have a section of 1st class curtained off to protect their identity as well as secret bording, I find it difficult to believe that Princess Pelosi could not do the same and thereby save some cash.

Will Princess Pelosi sell her $30 million jet once the progressives get their cross country high speed rail system built? Will she trade in her jet for a whole highspeed rail car?

    Wait…one more thing…
How can Princess Pelosi represent Earth First and the left wing radical progressive enviornmentalist wackos while she’s got a carbon footprint almost as big as Al Gore’s?! (http://planetgreen.discovery.com/travel-outdoors/cross-country-flight-carbon.html and http://earthhour.zerofootprint.net/)
The sites above will help you learn something about the carbon footprint Princess Pelosi is creating. I’ll shorten it here:
Taking only 2 roundtrips to and from San Francisco, Princess Pelosi would emit 7.36 Tons of carbon into the atmosphere. That equals rougly half of the yearly energy usage for the average American.

If Wade’s plan to beat Carney is to run against Pelosi, then I’m definitely going to keep my wallet shut, because once Kevin’s trounced for running such a terrible campaign, I’ll need that money to help pay my taxes.

  12. on 19 Feb 2010 at 15:5312anoni

Messrs. Wade, Cullis, Urquhart or whoever gets the nod should be able to run an effective campaign against Carney (http://www.johncarneyforcongress.com/main.cfm?actionId=globalShowStaticContent&screenKey=cmpAccomplishments&s=carney)…even if they didn’t win a high school football state championship way, way, way back in the early 1970′s.

  13. on 19 Feb 2010 at 16:2313David Anderson

Luckily, Kevin Wade is running not you Phil. The way to win this campaign is two fold. The first is to nationalize the election. You do that by saying you won’t be part of the national culture. You do that with specifics. This is not one of the huge issues that he usually addresses, but it is one of those iratating ones that Congress does. Carney will say nothing. Wade will object.

The second is to draw contrasts. Our candidate x (Wade in this example could be Cullis or Urquhart) needs to establish positive positions and show some of John Carney’s failures.

There is no magic bullet to do both at one time. Since our campaigns are interminally long, there does not need to be one. If I find the magic bullet, I will run for Congress. I am content were I am.

“..if you want to be the next Congressman from Delaware, I suggest you expend some energy in that direction..”…Pill

If I want your suggestion, I’ll ask for it.

My input was asked for. That’s what this giant comment box is for; soliciting opinions.
