Cute, I love the guy’s enthusiasm. I think President Obama was very astute to save the last question for the guy who had the President’s face on his t-shirt. We ought to get some CR’s in these town meetings wearing love Obama shirts. I love you President Obama, but could you please explain how you are going to keep my family safe by cutting the military 10% in the middle of two wars and the fight against global terrorism? Or I love you President Obama this is the greatest moment of my year, but why did you let Pelosi cut all of the housing aid from the stimulus bill and the payroll tax break that you campaigned on.

    John,
Is there a reason for publishing a person’s name instead of just the name they write under? Did you okay this with DV? If so, never mind. If not… badly done, John.

  3. on 11 Feb 2009 at 21:083JohnFeroce

What? Are you suggesting some sort of double standard?

It seemed of little concern to you fuckers over there to use a person’s full name and make fun of them.

You all better expect to get hit twice as hard every time you all take pot shots at real people who try and make a difference. I don’t care if it’s Tom Carper, Mike Castle, Karen Weldin Stewart, etc. that you hit. The days of you all going unchecked with your hatred and garbage is over.

We all have real families – wives, husbands, children, brothers, sisters, moms and dads and you all don’t give a damn about the effects of your vomit filled posts on our families, friends and co-workers.

  4. on 11 Feb 2009 at 21:574blogger

Yes, there is a definate stench over there, John, but I like DV anyway.
Steve Newton wrote this the other day, to your point…
    http://delawarelibertarian.blogspot.com/2009/02/update-ok-apparently-i-make-things-up.html

‘But it is amazing just how thin-skinned most Delawareliberal authors are to any criticism of them or their practices. When they feel any heat, they fall back on using talking points to accuse other people of using talking points, calling other people names, and engage in circle-jerk orgies of self-congratulation of how happy they all are to be the only bright people in the State.
Just watch them trash Mike Matthews or Dana Garrett any time they question their orthodoxy, even though Matthews and Garrett have intellectual and progressive credentials (and the ability to spell) to which many of the contributors at DL would like to aspire…
The problem with being in permanent attack mode is that it becomes both predictable and tedious over time….”

    Jason

You start something and then get mad when people respond? Canio kept on it calling me a carpetbagger and talking more shit than one can remember and LiberalGeek puts my pic up again to busts my balls! You then respond in your posts with my full name all the time as recent as last week and you have the balls to get mad!

Fuck you Jason Scott Motherfucker, I’m just starting.

  9. on 11 Feb 2009 at 22:259jason330

    Dickweed,

Your impotent rage makes me laugh.

  10. on 11 Feb 2009 at 22:2910jason330

BTW – I took your name off that post as soon as you pitched your little google footprint hissy fit.

  11. on 11 Feb 2009 at 22:3611JohnFeroce

“Your impotent rage makes me laugh.”

Does it really. Reminds me of a great movie scene.

Jason: You’re a pistol, you’re really funny. You’re really funny.
Giovanni: What do you mean I’m funny?
Jason: It’s funny, you know. It’s a good story, it’s funny, you’re a funny guy.
    [laughs]
Giovanni: what do you mean, you mean the way I talk? What?
Jason: It’s just, you know. You’re just funny, it’s… funny, the way you tell the story and everything.
Giovanni: [it becomes quiet] Funny how? What’s funny about it?
Canio: Giovanni no, You got it all wrong.
Giovanni: Oh, oh, Canio. He’s a big boy, he knows what he said. What did ya say? Funny how?
    Jason: Jus…
    Giovanni: What?
    Jason: Just… ya know… you’re funny.
Giovanni: You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it’s me, I’m a little fucked up maybe, but I’m funny how, I mean funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I’m here to fuckin’ amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?
Jason: Just… you know, how you tell the story, what?
Giovanni: No, no, I don’t know, you said it. How do I know? You said I’m funny. How the fuck am I funny, what the fuck is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what’s funny!
Jason: [long pause] Get the fuck out of here, Gio!
Giovanni: [everyone laughs] Ya motherfucker! I almost had him, I almost had him. Ya stuttering prick ya. Dave, was he shaking? I wonder about you sometimes, Jason.

“BTW – I took your name off that post as soon as you pitched your little google footprint hissy fit.”

Canio didn’t stop at all!!! He insists on making fun of my accomplishments and hard work because he has none to speak of. Look at recent posts where I tried to comment and he came back at me (and you) with Giovanni, as mocking my given name.

It gets old fast, and I’m not laughing anymore.

  13. on 11 Feb 2009 at 22:4113jason330

Funny. To the point, I manned up when it dawned on me that I made a mistake by putting your name on that post.

    That’s all I’m sayin’.

  14. on 11 Feb 2009 at 22:4214jason330

I blame George Bush for all this rancor.

Why don’t you guys just apologize already?

    Peace out.

    Most accurate statement

I would love to have respectful discourse with humorous needling, but you all have gone way overboard. You truly don’t realize the effects of your posts on real human beings and your fellow Delaware citizens.

I appreciate your response to that one post, but it didn’t cease otherwise and that’s why I can’t let it go right now.

    car·pet·bag·ger (kär’pĭt-bāg’ər) Pronunciation Key
    n.

    1. A Northerner who went to the South after the Civil War for political or financial advantage.
    2. An outsider, especially a politician, who presumptuously seeks a position or success in a new locality.

??? Making fun of your blue glasses is making fun of your accomplishments?

And you take it as me mocking you b/c you are just as thin skinned as Newton’s description of us. I interchange your name so big deal. You want me to use John from now on when I insult you?

If it gets old fast John? Why do you keep coming back to the site? It seems to me if you don’t want to be insulted or made fun of…..then you don’t go to the website that insults and makes fun of you.

    pretty simple.

  23. on 12 Feb 2009 at 08:5523Hube

John. I understand your feelings about DL. I by and large share ‘em. They’re complete tools.

That said, I think it was wrong to use donviti’s real moniker. It’s an unspoken rule in the blogosphere not to reveal names (if known) as there may be needed reasons to use a pseudonym.

I’ve had my knock-down, drag-’em-outs with them, but revealing names never occurred to me. It may have occurred to them, but they never did it.

Again, what you did was wrong.

“If it gets old fast John? Why do you keep coming back to the site? It seems to me if you don’t want to be insulted or made fun of…..then you don’t go to the website that insults and makes fun of you. ”

and let you go unchecked with your trash talking? I don’t think so. You find great joy in your political cyber-bullying with complete disregard for what my and the others kids read. The fact you’re too stupid to realize that makes me completely discount that you care one iota of what you all write. That means you’re dangerous, and I need to protect me and my family from dangerous people.

Hube, I comment and they respond with Giovanni this and Giovanni that…save it.
    It’s falling on deaf ears.

  26. on 12 Feb 2009 at 09:0126Hube

Maybe I’m missing something then? Is Giovanni your real name that you didn’t want revealed?

  27. on 12 Feb 2009 at 09:0327JohnFeroce

The days of political cyber-bullying with continuous attacks on good people who work hard and run for office are numbered in Delaware.

These punks need to stop, hopefully they’re smart enough to do it on their own. If not, then I’m only just starting.

  28. on 12 Feb 2009 at 09:0628JohnFeroce

“Maybe I’m missing something then? Is Giovanni your real name that you didn’t want revealed?”

I do go by my full name which I use professionally in the optical industry.
It’s not just that though, they have gone too far with their BS and frankly with all due respect, I see no need to defend my response for their disdain for their fellow citizens and families.

  29. on 12 Feb 2009 at 09:0929Hube

He’s right. I stopped going over there to comment. I’m surprised that others bloggers still do. No one needs to pay them that kind of attention. Besides, they have one another and that’s what their group-think is really about in any case: one another. Think about it folks. No one needs them at all. If they write something that needs to be addressed, do it on your blog. But don’t do it on their site. Ignore them. Their importance exists mostly in their boasts about themselves. Look hard. The emperor has no clothes.

  34. on 12 Feb 2009 at 09:4234donviti

    I mean this 100% honestly.

    thank you Hube.

so now I find myself agreeing with Dana.

You have your own site (insert whatever name you want me to call you) So in the blog world what you do is, link to a post you disagree with and then….wait for it….then you go ahead and create a rebuttal or whatever the F you want to put up there.

It might be different in the “optical” world (that was sarcasm, not a personal attack, don’t go apeshit little fella) but in the blog world that is how it goes.

    Your kids read Delawareliberal? AWESOME.

And maybe if you don’t want them reading it, block it. They have software that can do that.

Now, to the picture of you with blue glasses. We made fun of you. I made fun of you. You didn’t like it. Maybe we in the blog world don’t appreciate the blue glasses craze in the “optical” world.

Sorry if we touched a nerve… You crossed a line (insert whatever name you want to be called) and you know it. and other readers/bloggers know it.

it takes a man to admit when he is wrong.

NOW stay off the site if you don’t want to be offended. One less reader isn’t going to hurt….

  36. on 12 Feb 2009 at 09:5336donviti

    Dana,

It’s funny you say what you said. I have wondered the same thing about our site. Do we have to watch out that we are just one big echo chamber? Do we have to worry that only the people that comment are the actual writers on the blog?

Those questions have crossed my mind.

Then I look at our stats, look at people contacting us, look at where the hits come from, talk to writers from the News Journal that read us, have people stop at bars and say they read us and think to myself that we are doing something right.

  37. on 12 Feb 2009 at 09:5537JohnFeroce

allow me to spell it out for you. CONSISTENCY. Using ONE NAME always, A-L-W-A-Y-S. One that everyone knows. One that when someone reads it, they know it is YOU. It has nothing to do with Personal names.

I’m glad to hear that. Make sure you get a nice pair of sunglasses so you can wear them all day long. I’ll bet money someday you’ll need them.

  42. on 12 Feb 2009 at 11:5942Hube

John: Dana is right. The best thing to do is just ignore them. Just about everyone in the DE blogosphere has (except their own little in-club confab). You can believe donviti’s claims from above, but I say it’s bullshit. Who really gives a f*** what semi-illiterate tools like them think? Anyone can set up a blog, after all. If they’re beginning to take their own shit that seriously, then they really HAVE lost their marbles, more than most people think.

And the News Journal contacting them?? LOL! The NJ dying faster than someone who just took cyanide. Maybe the NJ is just looking for advice on how to make the inevitable switch to all-electronic. It certainly ain’t for what the DLers know or think about intellectual matters. They’re just too f***ing stupid.

  43. on 12 Feb 2009 at 12:0943JohnFeroce

Thanks Hube. I’m moving on and hope we can have discourse in Delaware without all the BS.

The public benefits from political blogs and that’s all that should matter. Feeding the public multiple viewpoints (most times serious and sometimes satirical, but it should never be personal) and letting them decide at the polls.

God knows we need help there the next go around and we have to be ready and able to serve with expertise and distinction. Actually that goes for every party.

  44. on 12 Feb 2009 at 14:0744Perry Hood

A major part of the problem with the blogs is that some of the ranters, name callers and personal attackers are not accountable because they hide behind their monikers. This enables these vicious attacks, now to the point where personal identifications are revealed without permission. In my view, this does definitely cross the line; in fact, it constitutes the most vicious kind of attack.

That said, bloggers should stand behind their ravings by fully identifying themselves. Case in point is Hube in #45. What would his daughter say, what would his students think, what kind of an example of incivility is set here for all to see where accountability is absent? Not just Hube, there are plenty of hidden folks who have exercised their incivility, especially the last couple of days.

The alternative is to continue using a moniker, if that is so important to do so, but to practice civility as well. There are plenty of bloggers around here who fit this picture very well!

  45. on 12 Feb 2009 at 14:1745JohnFeroce

This enables these vicious attacks, now to the point where personal identifications are revealed without permission. Perry, the solution is quite simple – Don’t attack people, attack positions. As for your point, if you don’t want to get hit, then don’t start a fight. Accountability starts today.

BTW, I feel like a player that just retaliated after getting punched and the ref only saw my reaction. You all know better as to how we got to this point.

  46. on 12 Feb 2009 at 14:3946JohnFeroce

“You’ll never make it over there at DL with that attitude…”

Sigh…unfortunately so right. BTW, Did you ever get called a wingnut if you are a Republican and you brought up a point that didn’t agree with theirs? It’s their new favorite word.

  47. on 12 Feb 2009 at 16:5647Hube

Perry: Why do you see the need to constantly bring my name up at others’ blogs? Did you miss all the others who used profanity in this thread — and fail to note that I actually used asterisks? And why do you feel the need to bring my daughter into such? And you called ME obsessed?

Why have you not been to DE Liberal and criticized THEIR over-the-top behavior, Perry? Do you even KNOW what John is referring to?

You keep pulling this shit (mentioning me and my DAUGHTER in irrelevant situations across the blogosphere) and I promise YOU what John has w/the DLers.

  48. on 12 Feb 2009 at 17:3648Perry Hood

John said: “Perry, the solution is quite simple – Don’t attack people, attack positions. As for your point, if you don’t want to get hit, then don’t start a fight. Accountability starts today.”

John, I agree completely. Wisdom is the better part of valor! Frankly, I think you temporarily lost your cool, as I found these exchanges to be completely out of character based on my impression of you to date on this blog. You and I have had some heated exchanges, but they have always been on the issues, as I have never felt that you attacked me personally.

Hube, did you read this in #47? “Not just Hube, there are plenty of hidden folks who have exercised their incivility, especially the last couple of days.”

Your response did not acknowledge that statement.

So you see, Hube, you were not singled out, rather you were the most recent example on the thread of gross incivility. And I don’t separate myself out, meaning that I need improvement too. If you ever did decide to use your name instead of a moniker or nickname or whatever, I think your presentations might be quite different, as so with others as well. That said, I do respect your decision if you were to stick with “Hube”, but I think you understand my point.

Regarding DL, I rarely participate over there, although I have been monitoring their blog more frequently recently. I agree with many of their positions on the issues, but without having had significant interactions over time with them, I don’t feel in a position to comment publicly on their style. I do think it might be worth their while to consider discarding their monikers, for reasons just discussed. Even if they don’t do it, consideration of it may cause some revision of their approach to their blog contributions, not on the issues but on their style choices.

  49. on 12 Feb 2009 at 17:4549Hube

My name was the only one specifically mentioned, Perry. You did it the other day over at Anonymous Opinion, too. And why did you bring my daughter into the conversation? No, skip your excuses. Just don’t do it again. You know nothing about me personally, you don’t know her, and thus you know nothing of her “hypothetical reaction” to ANYTHING.

Do it again, and I reiterate my last sentence from my #52.

Oh, and your excuses for “not commenting” on DL’s behavior are, as usual, lame.

  50. on 12 Feb 2009 at 17:5850Perry Hood

Hube, I have no idea what your threat in your last sentence in #52 means. But never mind, I don’t want to know.

Hopefully, Hube, this exchange causes both of us to reset to civility.

Wait a fucking minute, Hube. Donviti outed HIMSELF during one of his pointless and pedestrian interviews on DTR. Specifically, the show where he was boasting about his service to his country in the Navy, and having cultivated several minority friendships (in an apparent attempt to give him some kind of street cred) while on a submarine. Shortly thereafter, whined to me about using his real name in a post. Then he used his FULL NAME in the same post… all on Del Lib.

  54. on 12 Feb 2009 at 20:1854Tyler Nixon

I tried asking that a long long time ago, Maria, while under sustained assault by at least one anonymous commenter over there, for my mortal sin of being/remaining a Republican.

Any whiff of magnanimity or de-escalation has been openly written off as surrender to the hated Republicans and a foolish forbearance of juicy self-gratifying opportunities to pump more poison into the well…justified as righteous reaction to all of George Bush’s poison.

I have long detested Bush and his policies as much as they do, but the endless broad-brush partisan attacks, often just plain petty and infantile, made me realize that this isn’t enough to find any constructive common ground moving forward.

I will say I have been personally spared any real nastiness from the DL bunch, save some heated exchanges. I am glad for this because some of the characterizations I have seen of others, specifically Dave and John as far as in here, have made me cringe for them just as human beings.

    Oh well, whaddyagonnado.

And in the interests of complete honesty, dv, even though I criticize folks at DL, when two out-of-state assholes attacked my daughter about six months ago after a post I wrote about her problems with her health insurance, it was LG and Pandora who gave them a long ration of shit and even pursued them back to their vile little blog…

  57. on 13 Feb 2009 at 08:3757Perry Hood

DV said: “Bringing someone’s child into it on ANY level is uncool and crossing a line.”
I didn’t bring your child into it, DV, nor Hube’s for that matter, although he chooses to interpret it that way. My point was that as a family man, Hube (and you) should be more careful of your on-line behavior, should it negatively impact someone dear to you. Isn’t that sensible and reasonable? For you, it is even more urgent now, since you have been outed. You can still make your political points very well, I’m sure. It’s only my opinion, so you can reject it and go on as you please.

What. Did. I. Tell. You. Perry?

Do you want a war, Perry? Do you?

  59. on 13 Feb 2009 at 11:2959Perry Hood

Hube, I said: “It’s only my opinion, so you can reject it and go on as you please.”

So why do you continue with your threat (which I don’t even understand anyway).

    Email me, Hube.

  60. on 13 Feb 2009 at 11:5360Hube

What don’t you understand? Keep your opinions about ME. My daughter, or more specifically, your [warped] view of her opinion of me has NO place in this discussion.

Why should I e-mail you? If you have something to say, YOU e-mail ME.

  61. on 13 Feb 2009 at 13:2461Perry Hood

    OK Hube. End of discussion!
