Does Dede Have a Brain????
Nov 3rd, 2009 by Tennessee Walker
Dede Scozzaaza has just set back the cause of Moderate Republicans about 20 years. If this was her intent then she is brilliant. Personally, I don’t think she has a clue what she is doing.
Let’s review the events.
1. Dede is nominated as per the Party rules of the Republican Party of New York. There were 7 other contenders one of whom was Doug Hoffman.
2. Dede’s liberal views on certain issues such as gay marriage, and union non-secret ballot approval (card check) were exposed.
3. Conservative and Republican leaders opposed her candidacacy.
4. Dede drops like a rock to third in the NY 23rd special election race.
5. Dede recognizes the inevitable. She can’t win
and drops out of the race.
6. 48 hours later after intense lobbying (and God knows what deal from the Obama Administration) Dede endorses the Democrat in the 23rd race.
Liberal Democrats will see this as Dede finally seeing her way. Of Course this ignores Dede’s statements of one week ago that “She has always been a Republican and always will be a Republican.”
I lauded Dede, on this blog for her selfless act of dropping out of this race when her continued entry would only serve to elect a Democrat.
I said at the time this was a noble and selfless act that would keep her in the good graces of all Republicans. I also said that I disagreed with Michelle Malkin’s condemnation of Dede.
Well I was wrong.
Dede has crossed over to the dark side and endorsed the Democrat and has managed to sully the reputation of every good and decent moderate Republican in the process.
Most know me as a Conservative Republican who keeps contact with my moderate brethern. I consider them principled and decent folks with whom I disagree on certain issues. None of my moderate friends would ever consider the dumb and disastrous decision Dede took in the last few days.
Dede Scozzaaza’s gives ample ammunition to those Conservative Republicans who believe Moderate Republicans cannot be expected to hold tough when things don’t go their way. The example of Dede Scozzaaza will be cited long in our party. Her name will be live in infamy as the ultimate traitor who at the last minute traded her party loyalty for either revenge or a significant job in a Democrat Administration. The ultimate act of an American traitor occurred in New York.
Dede I hope you like the company.

The ultimate act of an American traitor
Keep digging, Republicans.
I am merely curious why Dede is a traitor but Joe Lieberman, who endorsed the Presidential candidate of another party, is a statesman of principle.
Don’t need to answer; I think we all know why.
A little late on this info, newbie. And exactly what company did Dede have left after you guys roasted her? Which was your right, btw.
And, even though Steve doesn’t want an answer to his question, I’d be interested in hearing a response.
I wouldn’t call Ms Scozzafava a traitor – she stayed true to her principles and endorsed the candidate who shared them. That makes her a Democrat trying to get elected in a Republican stronghold by putting an R next to her name. Upstate NY is Sarah Palin country: a snowmobile in every garage and a deer rifle over every fireplace. Small wonder Joe Biden went after Palin and not Doug Hoffman.
What I really want to know is what were the committee members thinking when they nominated her in the first place?
Leiberman was an independent who the party had already left. He said before he was elected that he since he no longer was a Democrat that he would be free to support the best person. Dede was being courted to change practically after she got the nod. She was accussed of being too cozy and having the views of the otherside. Some said that the first time it suited her she would flip. They were right. I am a little less hard on her than my friend. I always saw her as a liberal first and now the liberal has gone home. He is right and I will explain why.
That act was stupid though because the Republicans who would have still voted for her as some sort of statement will now vote Hoffman to make a different statement.
Miller, Leiberman or on the other side Ron Reagan, or Colin Powell made their endorsements because they believed it was for the public good. They didn’t need deals to benefit themselves. If she would have dropped out and endorsed Owens, I would have respected that and said see the commie lib backs the socialist lib. But I would have respected her standing for her values. When it takes private deals with the speaker and the “next governor” as she described AG Andrew, along with catering from the White House she is suppose to oppose as part of the loyal opposition, I say it is a betrayal.
It was a betrayal of the all the people who stuck with her inspite of it hurting them. People like the RCCC which lost millions in donations. Gingrich who damaged his own political viablility to stand for the principle of local control. Steele to a lesser degree took heat as well. She spit in their faces not in 48 hours but 18 hours later. That is the difference Steve.
Who cares? I’ll take VA and NJ, thank you. Anyway, the Dems will hold the NY-23 for exactly one year; take that to the bank.
Creation out of destruction
REPUDIATION!!!

That ACORN would stuff the ballot for a “Republican” for a change?
Evan, Owens got $400,000 from SEIU, which is ACORN’s twin brother, so I hope you’re being sarcastic.
