Dems finally give into Nelson
Dec 19th, 2009 by David Anderson
Senator Nelson from NE finally got close to his language restricting abortion funding. He also got some language to get more funding for medicaid in his state.
The problem with the compromise is that it is not the same language as the house Stupack amendment. The reason the senator offered the same amendment originally is likely due to the rule that the conference committee is suppose to live alone language agreed to by a vote of both houses. By having different wording between the house and senate, the conference committee has cart blanche. It can even drop the language completely. That is why Nelson reportedly said he will filibuster the bill if the conference changes it too much.
For Pro-life Democrats, Nelson represented while Casey caved. I guess you PA pro-lifers should have stuck with Santorum. Jr. is not his father.

Nelson sold hid vote. The Feds will pick up any extra Medicaid costs to Nebraska for get this-forever.
What a joke.

What did Carper and Kaufman get for Delaware in exchange for their vote?
Nelson is the best senator money can buy; obviously, he doesn’t plan on running for re-election.
