Delaware, Is this Your Budget?
Jun 23rd, 2010 by Timothy Pancoast
So Delaware, is this your budget? Go ahead and take a look, because it might be. It was introduced yesterday in the General Assembly and it is online today. Before this becomes Delaware’s reality for the next fiscal year, please spend some time reviewing it. Make sure this is how you want your tax dollars collected and spent. The good news is that SB 310 is only 230 pages of tables, lists, explainitory notes, and well spaced text. The bill does have a table of contents to help you focus on any areas you may have special interest in such as education, transportation, or DNREC.
Feel free to post comments here and also ask your Representative and Senator if you have any questions. I’m sure they would love to hear from you.
On a side note all figures, unless otherwise noted are in the thousands unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to Dave Burris for the quick heads up on this.

WOW!!
$8 million for Beach replenishment !!?!? Our tax dollars are being used to protect Mike Castle’s beach house investment.
That’s a mother—-ing outrage.
Everyone who wants a smaller —–ng government needs to get on Castle’s — about this mother—— bull—-.

WOW –
Where is the teabagger army when you need them?
We need to expose the big state porkulent rancidness of our hard earned tax dollars going to protect Mike Castle’s real estate investment.
This is right down your red-neck, gapped-toothed, flag waving alley. Where’s the outrage? Where are the pitchforks & and shot guns being racked?
Uh, dimwit- since when is Castle a conservative? Nobody around here cares about his beach house (although they might think preserving Rehoboth, Dewey and Bethany Beach, and the jobs and tax revenue created therein, as a worthwhile endeavor).
Everyone has a great justification for their own pork. You guys started out on the right track with this post – don’t lose heart now.
Sic semper tyrannis!! We must strike at the heart of this overgrown beast, this monster government trying to make us pay for shit that we don’t want. Picking out pockets to further enrich the beach dwelling millionaires.
No! Down with taxes!! Down with tyranny!!
Picking out pockets to further enrich the beach dwelling millionaires.
Like the single-mom waitress working at Louie’s?
C’Mon Patriots!!!
This is the front line in the fight against the tyranny of big government. If they can use my tax dollars to (further) enrich Mike Castle, what’s next? Sending our tax dollars to Jamaica to paint Mrs. Rollins Beach House?
Or are you a bunch of frauds who like big government as long as you are the ones getting to suck on the teet?
The scales are falling from my eyes.
Okay, I am not all that familiar with looking at State Appropriations Bills. Before I contact my Senator I’d like to get some more facts on this one. Can anyone explain to me why on page 12 Office of the Chief Information Officer shows 2 personnel but has $516,400 budgeted for personnel costs in the General Fund. If split evenly that is $258,200 per person. That is a better deal than the Governor or the Supreme Court Cheif Justice get. It doesn’t follow any of the patterns I have seen so far in the budget. I can’t believe it is straight salary and bennefits for just two people, so I’d like to know what else is built into that line.
Anyone have some thoghts on this one?
