“Correction” On Sen. DeMint Backs Conservatives
Aug 15th, 2010 by Frank Knotts
This is a correction of a story I posted yesterday concerning Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) having started up a new website, “Senate Conservative Fund”. The site is intended to endorse and raise funds for candidates that are the most rock solid conservative candidates .
In my earlier article I mis- quoted Sen. DeMint as having said not to send money to Delaware. I was mistaken and apologize for the confusion.
The SCF website will allow contributors to send money to specific candidates and not to party committees in states with moderate or liberal GOP candidates on the ticket, where the money might be used to help them.
Sen. DeMint has also indicated that he will use his own money to support state party races were SCF candidates are running.
In the Newsmax article that I quoted , Delaware is mentioned as a state where you wouldn’t want to send your money to the state party, but not by Sen. DeMint, but by the reporter Dan Weil.
As for the SCF website, in the list of candidates that the site endorses neither Mike Castle nor Christine O’Donnell were listed as of yet. There is a “RACES” button where the Delaware race is talked about.
Again let me say the I apologize for my earlier incorrect posting of a quote that was not a quote.
Here are links to both the Newmax article http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/DeMint-Web–Site–Conservatives/2010/08/13/id/367427
and the SCF site http://senateconservatives.com/

Frank thanks for the link to the DeMint website. I especially like all of the info on Ken Buck who I have been following for some time.
As for the NewsMax article, I have seen them insert the author’s comments before so while I read NewsMax I try to be careful with their attributions.
Interstingly, I think that Demint’s efforts will help moderates as well as Conservatives. If the Republican Senate Committee sees candidates such as Buck as being adequately financed they will be more willing to help Kirk in Illinois or Castle in Delaware.
Barbara Boxer is down in California. The Republican takeover of the Senate which was laughed at 6 months ago is coming closer to reality.
