Companies Boycotting Fox News

Mar 29th, 2010 by thatsElbert

Twitter user “jpconnorjr” posted a tweet about Apple boycotting Fox News because of Glen Beck’s show. I’m not sure if this was a recent development or if this is old news. The far left has pressured several advertisers to avoid Beck’s opinion show and with some even avoiding the whole network. If Apple has wussed out and jumped ship, it looks like Jon Scott and Jane Skinner, hosts of the network’s 11AM show “Happening Now” need to start covering those Apple logos on the back of their MacBooks.

It’s understandable that companies pick where they want their ads placed. If a company didn’t want ads placed on a news opinion show, they certainly have the right to act on that. It does seem stupid to avoid a ratings goldmine, considering Fox leaves their news rivals CNN and MSNBC in the dust. If these boycotters leave their ads at the opinion/news networks CNN and MSNBC, I sure hope there are getting a bargain. They sure aren’t reaching the market they could get.

To toss this in, if by the same standards Fox News is judged as “opinion” reporting, then CNN and MSNBC would have no problem falling into the same category, the one they have comfortably been in for years.

I think we need to voice our displeasure which is our right.

I think Fox News will have the true story on those patriots in the mid-west who wanted to murder cops in order to spark a general revolt against our communist overlords.

The other networks will cowardly conclude that those patriots were really terrorists. Stupid left-wing media!

We should now see an explosion in sales of herbal erection dysfunction pills now.

jason330, and what does that have to do with this post? The post pointed out that an advertiser jumped ship on a ratings goldmine because of a one hour long opinion program. i have wondered if they jumped ship on the 24/7 opinion programs on CNN & MSNBC. One could make a case for Olbermann’s program on MSNBC being comparable to Beck’s, with the exception that Beck has no malice. Olbermann more than likely would celebrate other’s misfortunes with a party. Yeah, I want my company advertising on a show like that. Then again, buying ads on a show that gets something like a third of the ratings of the #1 show in the same time slot has got to be a bargain.

Probably an organized boycott group on the right would be in order. Yet again, as I wrote, no one makes companies advertise anywhere. In a free country they can spend their ad dollars in any place they choose, even if it’s at a ratings wasteland.

I’m not surprised that someone who thinks the earth is 10,000 years old also thinks Olbermann is a lefty counterpoint to Beck.

You are floating on a raft of crazy adrift in a sea of stupidity.

Such original thinking from lefty wackoville. Brava Jason330!

trouble is Glen Beck is telling his audience everyday that the President of the United States is a marxist communist with many of the same leanings as Mao Castro Stalin. He uses visual aids with pictures of Hitler Stalin Mao as part of his teaching about President Obama.

That is why Fox ratings are gold. Because they have combined the vulgarity of professional wrestling with politics and people flock to see the freak show. Some people even believe professional wrestling and Fox are for real. Murdouch has followed the P.T.Barnum model. It works. There is a sucker born every minute.

    jason330: you wrote:

How do you know this and what does this have to do with the discussion?
    And further:
You are floating on a raft of crazy adrift in a sea of stupidity.
Yeah, that’s the way to make your point. You spoke of your self well when you wrote, “Attack the man if you have no argument.”
A typical far left tactic. Nothing to defend? Personal attacks work well, like Tyson biting his opponent’s ear. Let’s get back on the subject, shall we?

  10. on 30 Mar 2010 at 11:5410Rick

Who cares if Apple advertises on a show that has triple the ratings of CNN and MSNBC combined? I’m sure FOX will have no trouble selling the ad time.

Maybe they can move to Schultz’ or Olberman’s show…if they want to waste their money. Those two imbeciles have actually had nights where only 200,000 people were watching, nationwide. This put them around 23rd on cable, well behind the Cartoon Network.

Waaaa..We’re Gonna’ Take Our Apple and Go Home!

I don’t know that he is one but you need to disprove his leanings toward communism.
As far as Fox being “real”, let me repeat what I wrote above:
if by the same standards Fox News is judged as “opinion” reporting, then CNN and MSNBC would have no problem falling into the same category, the one they have comfortably been in for years.
