Comment Rescue–”An idiot”: Mark Williams of Tea Party Express writes a letter to Lincoln

Jul 16th, 2010 by David Anderson

As for Mark Williams attempt a satirizing the NAACP, he didn’t show himself to be a racist. He showed himself to be a blithering, insensitive, Jack Ass who has no place in leadership of a broad based people’s movement. In attempting to make some sort of point that the NAACP is embracing a new type of slavery and forgoing the hard earned freedom of yesteryear, he managed to insult people who would agree with him and show how out of touch he is with modern day Americans.

The NAACP looked foolish and it was quite frankly an embarrassing episode. Now Williams makes the Tea Party look equally petty and foolish and himself look like an idiot.

The Tea Party movement is a diverse coalition of groups with no national leadership. As we see, that is a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that it can’t be pigeon holed by one guy. The curse is that any self appointed ego maniac with an email list can be seen as speaking for the movement.

I think that I can just say Amen. That is why we the people can not let corporate whores take over our movement. It is time for us to stand up and say this is our movement and we are not going to be derailed by anyone’s personal issues. We have seen that on the left as shown by the resolution that sparked this. Great movements isolate themselves and wither. That can not happen to us. That is one reason I urge everyone who can to come down to the farm tonight.

As for how bad is it. We are not exaggerating. See the letter:

Dear Mr. Lincoln

We Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!

In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week. We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the ‘tea party movement’.

The tea party position to “end the bailouts” for example is just silly. Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn’t that what we want all Coloreds to strive for? What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds! Of course, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is the only responsible party that should be granted the right to disperse the funds.

And the ridiculous idea of “reduce[ing] the size and intrusiveness of government.” What kind of massa would ever not want to control my life? As Coloreds we must have somebody care for us otherwise we would be on our own, have to think for ourselves and make decisions!

The racist tea parties also demand that the government “stop the out of control spending.” Again, they directly target Colored People. That means we Colored People would have to compete for jobs like everybody else and that is just not right.

Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government “stop raising our taxes.” That is outrageous! How will we Colored People ever get a wide screen TV in every room if non-coloreds get to keep what they earn? Totally racist! The tea party expects coloreds to be productive members of society?

Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house. Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we belong.

Sincerely

Precious Ben Jealous, Tom’s Nephew National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Head Colored Person

BUT DOENS’T HE SPEAK FOR THE TEA PARTY??? ISN”T HE YOUR VOICE??? MAYBE IM CONFUSED BUT THAT IS HOW HE IS PORTRAYED BY THE RIGHT WING MEDIA AND THE TEA PARTY – SO WHAT’S THE BEEF?? SORRY FOR THE CAPS – ITS STUCK

  2. on 16 Jul 2010 at 14:082David Anderson

He is on CNN. Most Tea Party groups seem to have a different view. That is why there were rival endorsements in many races.

  3. on 16 Jul 2010 at 14:283Mike Protack

The biggest threat to African Americans are their so called leaders who ignore Black on Black crime, oppose school choice and see expanded government employment as the answer for all ills.
Go back and read MLK’s speech, “I Have A Dream”. Today’s black leaders are woefully inadequate for today’s challenges.

  4. on 16 Jul 2010 at 14:304Apo Whichiapi

ok – now that caps is unlocked – I’m going to try for witty – so we now have rival tea parties within the tea party.

    1. the Tea Party express
    2. the Tea Party
    3. the Tea Partiers?
    4. the Pekoe Teas
    5. the Darjeelings
    5. the Green Teas
    6. the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party (they seem like fun)

if Williams is going to do this to you folks – whom I do believe most of you are sincere about what is happening – he needs to be expelled and all the racists and bigots with him…. you need to be building your credibility now – not havin the fringe destroy you…….

I have personally seen and heard racists comments and threats from members of the 912ers and the Tea Party – and see them posted in blogs and on websites – you may not like that or espouse their views but you do need to handle them and expel them. IF you want to be credible, accepted and appealing to the voters.

  5. on 16 Jul 2010 at 14:325Apo Whichiapi

Mike – i have a question for you…..if you do away with birthright citizenship and the 14th ammendment-will you make it retroactive to say….1492??

where is the limit on that??

  6. on 16 Jul 2010 at 15:166Hube

I have personally seen and heard racists comments and threats from members of the 912ers and the Tea Party

Anyone who really believes this, raise your hand. Let’s see …. no one?

and see them posted in blogs and on websites

How precisely did you know they were from members of the Tea Party, pray tell?

IF you want to be credible, accepted and appealing to the voters.

Please. The Tea Party is doing that. I’m sure you were as concerned about anti-war and anti-globalism protesters expelling the anarchists and/or Maoists/Leninists et. al. from their ranks, right? Especially since they were MUCH more numerous and a lot easier to find … and fake videos didn’t have to be made about them.

hube – google for pete’s sake- many rallys with pictures or Obama as a nazi or dressed up as a tribal member etc… come on – I tried posting links in here showing the sites these brain trust posts on – but your “monitors” didn;t allow it. the social networking alone has blown the racism wide open – I dont know if its arrogance or ignorance – but boy do I have the goods.

censorship to silence the truth….Delaware is a small state – when someone posts on racists sites and uses the same user name as they do on local sites its pretty easy to find them thru search engines designed for that….there is softwars that draws links and analysis…pretty good stuff actually

you don”t know who I am – maybe we have met – maybe I have been to your events – maybe i am a member myself for quite sometime…

I am concered about rabble-rousing the weak-minded and the unstabe, wheter it be on the left or the right – Im just as quick to jail an ALF member as I would be a teabagger

Like you all say – “what part of illegal don’t you understand” well tell that to those state employees in Utah that released that list with private data of 1300 suspected illegal immigrants – who turned out to be citizens or legal residents – nope- no profiling there – LOL – those knuckleheads will be in jail for quite some time – while their intended targets will be suing them. C’est la vie!!

and who are the criminals now?? – the American Council of Concerned Citizens – google the story

For pete’s sake, Obama as a Nazi isn’t “racist” for one thing, and “many” for you must mean “more than one.”

The rest is just conspiratorial nonsense.

ok Hube – go look your firneds up here –

go tot the web site Hube – go see for yourself

when you throw a rock at a pack of dogs – the one you hit first howls longest and loudest – looks like ya’ll just got hit coz there’s some howlin!!

  11. on 16 Jul 2010 at 22:0011David Anderson

    A. W. we covered that episode a long time ago here, maybe before you started reading us. We also covered the multi ethinic aspects to the movement as well. There is no large movement in America without some racist elements. We have been dealing with that for 400 years. If I get a 1000 people in a room at least one is likely to be a bigot.

With that said, I think as Fay and I have both pointed out that the term racist is being misused. When I said that the Bush administration was sliding toward fascist economic policies in 2008, no one condemned me as a racist. We people point out the same thing about President Obama, they are racists. No, they are having a vigorous policy debate rejecting the corporate state and a command economy.

Someone put something offensive on the 9/12 forum saying shoot the illegals crossing the border. When they saw it, it was taken down. In the time in between, no one agreed. Yet some local liberal took a screen shot and claimed that the group took it down to hide their true intentions. It couldn’t be that the 9/12 group was horrified by the callousness for what is legally the same as a traffic ticket and reject Draco’s code of law. It couldn’t be that they just didn’t want something like that to be said to represent that. It couldn’t be that they have an ethnically diverse leadership group. It had to be that they were hiding their racism by rejecting it. You guys have a template and you twist every statement or fact to match it.

I will not let you go unchallenged.

To the commenter that said that we need to reject people involved with racism. I thought that was the point of this thread. I guess I should say thank you for approving.

  12. on 16 Jul 2010 at 22:2412Tennessee Walker

What I find amazing about left wing bigots such as apo wichiapi is that they pretend to be totally offended by so called racist signs and then never once condemn actual and real racists such as the New Black Panthers. Have we heard one word of condemnation from apo wichiapi about Black Panthers (who were given unbelievably great treatment by the Obama Toady Eric Holder despite engaging in criminal behavior) who advocate the killing of white babies.
apo wichiapi is a typical liberal who hopes by throwing enough mud on the wall that some of it will stick. Apo wichiapi is not interested in stamping out racism. If AW were interested in such he would have condemned by now the viscious, racist behavior, and statements of the New Black Panther Party.
    Liberal Hypocrisy knows no bounds.
We have no need to defend the Tea Party movement until Liberals actually confront the violent bigots of the left such as the New Black Panther Party.

  13. on 16 Jul 2010 at 22:5513apo wichiapi

okay – you want it you got it – I condem the New Black Panther Party I also earlier condemed the left and ALf and groups like them – any group that posts or allows postings that incite hate or violence are hateful and violent themselves. – see that was easy

about as easy as the 912ers leaving death threats up on their and other website for over 2 months without taking them down – nor condeming them UNTIL they got caught – then it was a rush to pull their pants up and say oh no – not us – we;re not like that!!

now – a website that has only 59 posts should not be that hard to monitor – get it??

it’s too late for them – they had their chance and they lost it – do you also want to justify the picture on the front page of the New Journal – he posed for it!! – your “token minority” holding a rifle (not even legal for hunting in Delaware) talking about illegal immigrants in the News Journal – then the posted death threats…. –

sorry Charlie – they made their bed – now they gotta lie in it

  14. on 17 Jul 2010 at 13:0114Tennessee Walker

Thanks api w. you finally condemn someone who advocates Killing Cracker babies only after you get called on it!!! I love it!!!! Liberals are the epitome of Hypocrisy.

  15. on 17 Jul 2010 at 13:2015David Anderson

    A. W. has no idea what he is talking about. There were never death threats. That is just a lie.

There have been comments on this blog that I deleted or redacted and others that I would have except they were responded to. It is quite rare, but once in a while it happens even regulars can get heated and sometimes have thanked me for removing something. Some I completely missed until people emailed me or called me. Someone sticks a comment in at 3 am outing someone or going overboard on a personal attack. I wonder why I missed it. :) Until someone has to deal with that situation especially if you do not already have standards policy, it is not easy. We all value freedom of speech. Stupidity reflects upon the writer not the forum.

  16. on 18 Jul 2010 at 08:0916apo wichiapi

David – with all due respect – i have never seen a death threat here – you actually are moderate and I applaud you- I have been attacked because I pointed issues out with other sites and members of other groups posting on national web blogs their true racist feelings

I have been seeing it for quite some time – and while conservatives and moderates are generally good people that are concerned – their organizations and message have been hijacked by hatred and bigotry – Prime example – is Mark Williams as you so apltly pointed out

Hube and TW and Rick – take extreme exception to by pointing this out and have over and over made my point for me – coz they go all defensive, which indictes to me – well something to hide

  17. on 18 Jul 2010 at 08:1817Hube

“Something to hide.” Please. It’s just way too easy pointing out the untruths of your “arguments,” and since you don’t like it, you resort to the usual “progressive” ad hominems.

I’ve seen/heard it all before. It’s beyond tiresome. Grow the f*** up, will’ya?

  18. on 19 Jul 2010 at 20:0318apo wichiapi

so Dave – you like Hube’s mature response above??

and Hube scores for me again!! tooooo easy….

  19. on 19 Jul 2010 at 21:3219Hube

    tooooo easy….

I agree. Having someone think for you is too easy, apo. Try doing — just once — for yourself instead of regurgitating faux progressive talking points. Delaware Liberal is the place to go for that garbage.

As she stated, she did not seek their endorsement and was surpised by it. Personally, I would have said thanks, but no thanks. The organization is more than Mark Williams and she accepted the endorsement from the Chairman. I understand that you don’t have to reject the entire outfit for one man’s indescretion, but I am with the Tea Party Federation on this one let them repudiate it first.

That may be why I am a blogger and she is a Senate candidate.

  22. on 28 Jul 2010 at 09:1622anontoo

She had the opportunity to reject it and she chose not to. She knows that any appearance that she doesn’t support 100% of the crazy means all of her out-of-state support goes ‘POOF.’ And that’s all the support she has, so she has to go 100% crazy, too.
