NEWS RELEASE – Christine O’Donnell signs ‘Defund It’ pledge, Delaware GOP Senate candidate vows to fight to defund Obamacare if elected, “Time to believe,” says surging Christine O’Donnell after Rasmussen poll
WILMINGTON, DE – On July 19th, Republican US Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell signed the “Defund It” online pledge. The pledge is to defund and ultimately repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, dubbed “Obamacare” by critics of the trillion dollar legislation. http://defundit.org/
“Obamacare is not an effort to protect patients nor to provide affordable health care,” says O’Donnell. “It is another effort by the Obama administration to seize power, redistribute wealth and control one sixth of the American economy.”
“As it stands, the Obamacare legislation will lead to rationing of health care to the elderly and those with terminal diseases, while using American tax dollars to fund abortions. I will seek to defund Obamacare and replace the legislation with free market solutions to promote competition across state lines and drive down prices.”
In signing the “Defund It” pledge, Christine O’Donnell joins 144 other candidates seeking federal office who oppose Obamacare, including Congressmen Ron Paul of Texas’s 14th District and Steve King of Iowa’s 5th. O’Donnell’s primary opponent Rep. Mike Castle has not signed the “Defund It” pledge.
Buoyed by the results of a recent Rasmussen poll, Delaware GOP Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell told a group of supporters in Wilmington last night that it is “time to believe” in her candidacy for US Senate. The Rasmussen Report poll results had Christine O’Donnell leading her Democrat opponent Chris Coons in a head-to-head matchup in the general election.

The Rasmussen results also showed that support for self-described “moderate” Republican Mike Castle has sunk to 47%, his lowest measured support since his announcement for Vice President Joe Biden’s former Senate seat. This prompted American Spectator columnist and blogger Robert Stacy McCain to dub Mike Castle “Delaware’s endangered RINO.” http://spectator.org/blog/2010/07/20/delawares-endangered-rino
With the wind apparently at her back, Christine O’Donnell believes that this is just the beginning of her surge toward victory in November.
“Our support is growing every day. I have the best volunteers in the country, and this latest news is fanning their fire.”
“We will continue to hold Mike Castle and the Obama administration to account for their assault on the free market and endless deficit spending.”

Welcome to the race…we are with you. This is what we have been waiting to hear from her. What event was last night in Wilmington???
Christine is no doubt the undisputed queen of the campaign gimmick. But where’s the beef? Where’s her policy agenda?

It’s pretty obvious this website has gone from an unbiased blog to an O’Donnell/Urquhart campaign site and a Castle/Rollins Smear site…
Don’t bother posting Castle’s reasoning for this, which is basically he believe we can make gains in other areas that would allow us to build the political capital necessary to actually do this rather than shouting like a lunatic that Obama is a tyrant trying to seize control of America rather than just a guy who doesn’t know what he is doing.
Well Mr. C, I don’t think this BLOG….makes any secret that it leans right of center. Like…GASP….heaven forbid that Bloggers should be writing about their own politics.
But I’ll tell you what…I’ll go along with the concept that Obamer don’t know what he’s doing. Is he trying to wreck the country? Well that’s the result of it all. I think that one could argue that either the ends justifies the means or the man and his minions are just stupid.
If the country ends up a political and economic wreck, DOES IT MATTER WHY OR HOW?
And hey, many readers here don’t especially care for Mike Castle but I’ve seen some of Castle’s press releases on this site.
It’s commenters like me that got big liberal-hating mouths.
On the subject of this administration not knowing what it’s doing….
heh…
two words…
SHIRLY SHERROD!
A living example of not knowing what the hell they’re doing.
The last time I checked, this was a news release from the O’Donnell campaign. When I post Castle news releases, no one asks why I don’t give O’Donnell’s reasoning.
Defunding of Health Care was a position Kevin Wade took back in March. Like a prophet before his time it appears every politician is copying Kevin Wade.
I have no problem with any politician signing on to a worthwhile idea that they did not come up with. I also don’t think it is too much to ask that the politician give credit where it is due.
It is a national pledge signed by 144 other candidates. I think the national organization is the one who should give credit to Kevin Wade Christine is just agreeing. You will see more being announced to signing this one.
David I personally will be appreciative should the National Organization give Kevin Wade the recognition he is due.
ALL,
It would have a been a lot cooler if Kevin Wade came out on top at the Convention. Don’t-cha-think!?
If the Republicans were to get control of the House and Senate, do you think they’d have 60 the votes in the Senate necessary to ‘overturn’ socialized medicine? Do you think BO would sign such a bill? Dream on.
The ‘healthcare’ bill, the nationalization of the banking and financial sector and upcoming amnesty and energy legislation have turned the United States into Europe. The reality is, the socialization of America is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
The U.S. faces an irreconcilable cultural schism, that cannot be solved through normal political channels. Hence, secession of the heartland- from Idaho south to Texas and east to Kansas, Nebraska, and possibly VA, NC, SC, GA and others.
Let the left have their windmills, high taxes, socialized medicine, political correctness, gay marriage, speech codes, reverse discrimination, mosques, crappy schools and general lethargy- the new nation need only wait for the inevitable collapse of the Socialist States (look for CA to fail first).
There are those who will say ‘the army will be with the Commander-in-Chief.’ That may be true of the motor pool and divisions of file clerks- but whose side do you think the fighters will be on?
At the end of the day, the left will not resist. They don’t have the guts to fight.
I believe all things work together for the good for those who love GOD.
I will gladly vote for and support Kevin Wade for just about any office in the future. I hope we do hear more from him. It is good to see him involved in the movement ant the party even more than before if that is possible.
Thank you Senator Seward for that rousing Irreconcilable Conflict speech. I hope that you are wrong this time. I am okay with him vetoing it. Most of the provisions don’t take effect until 2014. If he vetos it, it will show that he hasn’t learned and will doom him to being a one term President. It really will be his Waterloo. That is why we need the courage to take on the fight not give up because we can’t win it today like Castle and Rollins seemed to indicate.
I think the battle can be won in the hearts, churches, families, and ballot boxes. It will take decades. I am okay with that. I shall be here when it is won.
We are living the Second Great Schism. We all know how the first one ended.

She has just released a detailed policy agenda. I have posted analysis of it on my web site. I think it does an excellent job of defining her as the conservative alternative for the first time in this campaign, not just the Anti-Castle.
