Christine O’Donnell challenges Mike Castle to debate in U.S. Senate race

Jul 29th, 2010 by thatsElbert

Press release from the O’Donnell campaign:

WILMINGTON, DE – On Thursday, July 29, Christine O’Donnell for U.S. Senate Campaign Spokesman Yates Walker called the Mike Castle for U.S. Senate campaign headquarters to arrange two Delaware GOP debates in August between Christine O’Donnell and Mike Castle.

“The Castle camp wouldn’t commit to a debate,” said O’Donnell’s Campaign Spokesman Yates Walker. “I think the people of Delaware deserve to see a side by side comparison between Christine and Mike. Voters might appreciate the opportunity to see for themselves the difference between Christine’s platform of common sense, fiscal responsibility and Mike Castle’s record of spending Delaware and our nation into financial ruin.”

A previous July 9th debate sponsored by the Bear, DE-based group Founders’ Values was scheduled to be held at a seniors’ center, but Mike Castle declined at the last minute, citing scheduling conflicts.

“There will be no excuse for Castle’s scheduling conflicts in August,” adds Walker, in reference to Congressional August recess during which Castle will be in Delaware.

Having recently earned the national Tea Party Express endorsement, the Christine O’Donnell for U.S. Senate team has reason for optimism in the Delaware race. In the most recent independent Rasmussen poll, Christine is now leading Democrat candidate Chris Coons in a head-to-head match-up: 41% to 39%.

(See the Rasmussen poll here: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2010/election_2010_senate_elections/delaware/toplines/toplines_delaware_senate_july_14_2010)

Walker has requested two debates in August, The Castle campaign has not agreed to or offered comment on the challenge.

Oh please, please accept Mike – AND LET ME ASK THE QUESTIONS!

Congressman Castle, how do you explain the closeness you seem to feel for Soros funded groups such as Main Street Project and Center for American Progress?

Congressman Castle, as an avid supporter of ‘green technology’ and advocate for windmills for alternative energy, what effects would you expect from having to have 60% of the State covered with windmills to supply the electricity used, and what is your proposal to bridge the ‘no wind’ gaps?

    Oh, couldn’t I have fun…

But, alas, he will probably feel too insecure as he did at the town hall meeting when Eileen from Millsboro called him to task, turning him into a bumbling, incoherent hulk onstage…

Actually, I would really like to see Christine skewer him in a debate, but that is probably why he won’t do it.

Rep. Mike Castle seems to be a pathetic coward, who is afraid to explain his positions to the public. Perhaps he finds the issues to be too confusing, I don’t know. He exemplifies weakness.

  3. on 30 Jul 2010 at 07:263David Anderson

Actually, I think he handled Eliane pretty well. He was respectful, let her get her say, but gave his point of view. He looked like a pro. She didn’t come off so well.

I think the public deserves a debate. The race is now one of national attention. It is time to make it happen.

  4. on 30 Jul 2010 at 08:294jason330

O’Donnell is going to be debating with a police detective when the Greenville GOP is down with her.

  5. on 30 Jul 2010 at 08:305jason330

    done

  6. on 30 Jul 2010 at 09:536Rick

It’s amazing that someone with an endless supply of money and the support of the Delaware GOP hierarchy could be so stunningly lackluster. She has all the appeal of a wet bologna sandwich.

  7. on 30 Jul 2010 at 10:457Apo Whichiapi

too funny – you removed my post – what happend to the writer owning the words?? – I was ready to do that

but Rick posting about 5 guys in a pickup truck with shotguns rounding up “illegals” is left there??

oh my…. too funny – but you have to admit – while it was a mean shot… at least loosing your virginity isn’t advocating violence…

Rick – your appeal leaves a lot to be desired as well

Note from me: Is this your real name? At least Rick was trying to answer the question of how to deport the huge numbers of people. You know what I thought of that approach, but you have to give him that it was on topic not taking a real person and advocating prostitution for raising money. It wasn’t mean. It was disgusting. In case you may not be aware, Christine is a personal friend. I don’t mind her being attacked politically, she is an adult who made that call, but such a personal assualt can find a place on DL not here. At least put it under your real name if you want to own it.

There needs to be some realism here about a Castle-O’Donnell debate….

Rule Number One in campaign politics is that when your opponent lacks equal standing with you, don’t give it to them. By simply sitting around and doing his job, Castle will beat O’Donnell by twenty points (on a bad day). Given that, there is no reason for him to put her on a stage with him, possibly before a hostile audience (Founders Values, really?) where he can only be on defense against her charges that he’s really a closet Democrat.

For every every dollar O’Donnell has in the bank, he has 37. He’s won twelve times state wide, she’s 0-1 (I won’t count ’06). He is lionized by the meda (such as it is here), she is decimated by it.

Given all of that, don’t expect Castle to break Rule Number One anytime soon. And “cowardice” has nothing to do with it.

Make sure Protack is the moderator if Castle accepts, I would pay big $$$ to hear that one.

O’Donnell screwed Protack bad in 2006 and Castle has been part of the star chamber of the GOP who pulled Lee/Copeland out of their hat for 2008. Now Protack is laughing at them.

Rick is my real name, idiot.

    And who mentioned ‘prostitution?’

  11. on 30 Jul 2010 at 14:1611Apo Whichiapi

David – you better tell you friend Rick here that that comment was from you – not me
you added it to my post – for me – so Rick took it up – thinking it was from me and ends up calling you an idiot – who looks like an idiot now?? Ricks solution is illegal BTW – see below…harassment, terroristic threatening, kidnapping, false imprisionment etc etc etc then add using a firearm in the commission of these crimes ups the penalty and the State and Federal Hate Crimes on top of that. But thats OK to leave that post up. Even though you don’t agree – I think

and as for insults – one may not offend Christine bcoz she is a personal freind of yours but you tolerate posts in here that insult a whole bevy of others – on both sides of the aisle – why don’t you just rename this site the “STAND UP FOR CHRISTINE AND ANYONE ELSE I LIKE.NET”

OMG – this is getting better and better ….

as I never mentioned prostitution either Rick – that was David…here it is defined – and I never mentioned money:
    § 1342. Prostitution; class B misdemeanor.

(a)(1) A person is guilty of prostitution when the person engages or agrees or offers to engage in sexual conduct with another person in return for a fee.

oh and just for RICK –
§ 1304. Hate crimes; class A misdemeanor, class G felony, class F felony, class E felony, class D felony, class C felony, class B felony, class A felony.

    (a) Any person who commits, or attempts to commit, any crime as defined by the laws of this State, and who intentionally:

    (1) Commits said crime for the purpose of interfering with the victim’s free exercise or enjoyment of any right, privilege or immunity protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, or commits said crime because the victim has exercised or enjoyed said rights; or

    (2) Selects the victim because of the victim’s race, religion, color, disability, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry, shall be guilty of a hate crime. For purposes of this section, the term “sexual orientation” means heterosexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality.

“O’Donnell screwed Protack bad in 2006″ -the language is similiar – referencing the same act.

“but such a personal assualt can find a place on DL not here”- looks like a personal assault to me

    and what is DL?

and at least I keep things interesting – and without advocating violence too

  13. on 30 Jul 2010 at 20:4613Rick

Hey dummy- I cut and pasted your post.

Now, since you have no concept of punctuation or flow- see any of your incoherent posts- I understand how you might become confused.

oh and just for RICK –
§ 1304. Hate crimes; class A misdemeanor, class G felony, class F felony, class E felony, class D felony, class C felony, class B felony, class A felony.

What are you intimating, cupcake? I’ll tell you- nothing.

Maybe you should take a break…you’re hyperventilating, and your posts are becoming correspondingly incoherent.

  14. on 30 Jul 2010 at 22:3114apo wichiapi

Rick – I will type slow and in BIG LETTERS so you can understand me

DAVID ANDERSON ADDED A NOTE TO MY POST – YOU!! THINKING I WROTE IT – CUT AND PASTED WHAT LOOKED LIKE MY POST BUT WAS ACTUALLY A COMMENT ADDED BY DAVID – TO MY ORIGINAL POST..

ARE YOU REALLY THIS INCOHERENT?? AND DENSE –

DAVID – WILL YOU HELP HIM OUT AND TELL HIM THAT NOTE WAS ADDED BY YOU – AND RICK – JUST FOR YOU BELOW IS DAVID’S ADDITION TO MINE: READ IT SSSLLLOOWWWLLY…MY ADDITION TO DAVID’S ARE IN CAPS – SO YOU CAN KEEP UP….

ADDED BY DAVID TO MY POST ABOVE – Note from me: Is this your real name? (REFERRING TO APO WHICHIAPI – MY USER NAME) At least Rick was trying to answer the question of how to deport the huge numbers of people. (DAVID WAS DEFENDING YOU – WHY? I CANNOT IMAGINE) You know what I thought of that approach, ( BUT DAVID DOES NOT AGREE WITH VIOLENCE AND VIGILANTISM) but you have to give him that it was on topic (YOU ADDRESSED THE TOPIC) not taking a real person and advocating prostitution for raising money. It wasn’t mean. It was disgusting.( IT WAS MEAN – BUT KINDA FUNNY TOO – I SUGGESTED cHRISTINE ADVERTISE/BARTER WHATEVER- SOMETHING SHE MAY OR MAY NOT OWN) In case you may not be aware, Christine is a personal friend. I don’t mind her being attacked politically, she is an adult who made that call, but such a personal assualt ( DAVID IS DEFENDING CHRISTINE AGAINST PERSONAL ATTACK – POLITICAL ONES ARE OK) can find a place on DL not here. (DAVID LOST ME HERE) At least put it under your real name if you want to own it.(IF I WANT TO SAY SOMETHING MEAN AND PERSONALLY OFFENSIVE I HAVE TO USE MY REAL NAME)

RICK dear – David was referring to something mean-spirited that I posted about Christine O’donnell that he removed- he is asking me MY real name – I am NOT asking you yours – I do know know O’Donnell – don;t care to either –

SO RICK ARE YOU CLEAR AND OUT OF YOUR STUPOR YET?? – this is why it is soooo easy to defeat you closed-minded people – you see what you want to see and there is no clearing it up

can someone PLZ help this poor “amadathan” out?? and clear up the issue – I cannot bear his mental anguish over this anymore – nor can I believe someone is really this dense??

    LOL

  15. on 30 Jul 2010 at 22:3715apo wichiapi

oh and Rick – than incoherent post you refer to – David wrote it – not me

good luck figuring it out – eventually you might be able to connect the dots – I know its al little over your head…

and cupcake – really?? must mean i’m sweet – chocolate or vanilla?? i bet you’re a vanilla guy – no sprinkles – and certainly no spice either

I bet you never read Usysses by James Joyce either – i have a stylistic preferance you know…..
