Trouble Brewing On The Korean Peninsula; War Talk From Japan In lieu of a recent exchange of hostilities between North and South Korea along the heavily guarded Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), North Korea has warned it could strike US targets anywhere in the world. US intelligence chiefs said North Korea probably had missiles capable of attacking America's west coast as well as one or two nuclear missiles, according to Daily Mail foreign reporters Japan's Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba said, "Our nation will use military force as a self-defense measure if North Korea starts to resort to arms against Japan." The US has substantial military assets in Japan and these would be considered targets of North Korean Missiles. Although Japan's post war constitution bans war as a means to settle disputes, Ishiba proposed working with the US in developing a joint defense system Read more

Open Thread on: Whose Finger Is Actually On The Trigger?

I wonder exactly whose finger is really on the "war trigger," in the absence of any real competent leadership at the helm as Commander in Chief. Yes, I believe Syria's Regime is an abomination and has used chemical weapons against civilians, that includes women and children. Whose purpose are we really serving, if the Obama Administration launches a meaningless attack on Syria, without backing it up with support for Israel. When the attack is launched, Rogue State Iran is certain to use this as an excuse to launch a concentrated attack on Israel, with Arab States eventually joining in the fray against their ancient enemy, and Iran has already stated they would attack Israel, which leaves out any guess work. It won't stop there with so much oil in the region. Russia has already stated, the results for America and the world would be catastrophic if an attack were launched against Iran. Another Read more

Shades of 1950-1953 on the 38th parallel

Let’s establish a few things right off the bat, as they say: First, the Korean War, that began in June, 1950, never actually ended.  There is no formal treaty, no truce, simply an armistice, the same kind that ended World War One.  The Korean War never ended, but actual hostilities were curtailed under a cease-fire on July 27th, 1953 at 10:00 AM local time. Second, North Korea, which calls itself the “Democratic Republic of Korea,” is obviously neither democratic, nor a republic.  It is, in fact, a monarchy.  The “founder” of North Korea, Kim Il-sung, was a Soviet puppet and delusional Stalinist who actually believed his own prevarications and propaganda, as he believed that of his mentors, Stalin and Mao.  He passed power, without input from “the people,” directly to his son, Kim Jong-il, who, in turn, passed it to his son, Kim Jong-un, who is the sabre-rattling Read more

Pyongyang Preps Missile

North Korea has moved a missile with "considerable range" to its east coast, South Korea's defense minister said Thursday, but he added that there are no signs that Pyongyang is preparing for a full-scale conflict. The report came hours after North Korea's military warned that it has been authorized to attack the U.S. using "smaller, lighter and diversified" nuclear weapons. It was the North's latest war cry against America in recent weeks. The reference to smaller weapons could be a claim that Pyongyang has improved its nuclear technology. Or a bluff. South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin said he did not know the reasons behind the North's missile movement, and that it "could be for testing or drills." He dismissed reports in Japanese media that the missile could be a KN-08, which is believed to be a long-range missile that if operable could hit the United States. (AP) A Read more
