Michele Bachmann’s farewell–for now

Congresswoman and Tea Party Caucus Founder Michele Bachmann is retiring from Congress after 8 years. She spoke before the Values Voter's Summit. I am disappointed with her retirement because she understood the importance of defending the dollar and opposing the new global market basket currency. This debate with Socialist and Democrat Caucusing Senator Bernie Sanders is classic. She destroys his arguments for bigger government. The famous Gangster Government Speech End Bailout Nation Read more

Senator Ted Cruz is Delaware Politics National Person of the Year; Theresa Garcia is Delaware Politics Citizen of the Year.

The final two Delaware Politics Annual awards are for Delaware Citizen of the Year and National Person of the Year. The voting was close in each category. The runner up for Person of the Year was Edward Snowden who transformed the nation’s understanding of the national surveillance programs. The debate is now at the highest levels of governments globally and the most humble of homes on Main Street. The jury is still out on the legacy of Mr. Snowden. Will he sell out national secrets to protect himself? Is he a hero or mixed bag? Has he gone too far? No matter what one thinks of him, he has transformed the nation’s view of its government and sparked a global debate. The runner up for Delaware Citizen of the year was Dr. Kim Warfield. From feeding children snacks and dinner in the summer to facilitating youth programs throughout the year ranging from free mixed martial Read more

Will the GOP Fall Into Civil War?

Pundits are being dramatic. The reaction of the Tea Party groups to Karl Rove's newest project has been less than warm. Will 2014 be a civil war within the party or the year it takes the Senate back? Reason gave this take. The Conservative Victory Project, which is backed by Karl Rove and his allies who built American Crossroads into the largest Republican super PAC of the 2012 election cycle, will start by intensely vetting prospective contenders for Congressional races to try to weed out candidates who are seen as too flawed to win general elections. Shots fired, as the Twitter kids say. Politico gets reaction from Rove's targets: Matt Hoskins, executive director of the Senate Conservatives Fund, branded it the "Conservative Defeat Project." "The Conservative Defeat Project is yet another example of the Republican establishment's hostility toward its conservative Read more

Rally Against Tax Hikes

HIGHER TAXES HAVE NEVER BEEN THE ANSWER Guest Post by Evan Queisch in support of the Founders' Values rally in Newark, DE Tuesday the 27th at 6:00pm. Despite the claims of 3 dozen radical left wing activists, who seem quite content to spend not only their own grandkids money but the money of entire future generations on seemingly endless nanny state welfare programs, I am confident that the majority of Delawareans, especially those in the Newark area, reject any calls for higher taxes on anyone. The group I represent, Founders Values is no stranger to organizing rallies when it comes to taxation. As evidence, we cite no less than 3 Tax Day TEA Party rallies which we helped to organize. These rallies have drawn hundreds (our first drew 1,200 people) to the Wilmington Riverfront even in some of the worst weather on weekdays. Our attendees span all age, race and political lines and we Read more

Ted Cruzes to Tea Party Victory

Tea Party favorite Ted Cruz won the Texas primary so did Ron Paul's handpicked successor State Representative Randy Weber in what proved to be a night of Tea time across Texas. All across the Midwest and South the rise of the tea party continues. Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz pulls off a historic victory! Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said, “We could not be more proud of this historic tea party victory tonight against the Texas establishment. This is probably the most significant upset Texas has seen since Perry defeated Hightower in 1990, and it comes at the hands of the tea party. “What we saw in Ted Cruz and this Senate race was threefold: we saw an unquestionably strong and bold tea party conservative in Cruz; we saw Dewhurst as the anointed Austin politician that was exactly what we have been working to rid Washington of; and finally we saw the passion in the Read more

Obama’s Blame Game, “It’s The Tea Party”

Obama refuses or is incapable of leading and instead has decided to play the, "blame game." After wearing out his welcome with the American people by blaming Bush for all his woes, he has chosen a new target, the Tea Party. Obama's lack of any presidential quality in handling the debt crisis shows just what he is made of. "Look, he (Obama) is accusing because it (Tea Party) threatened default for causing this," said Charles Krauthammer on the Fox News Monday night's, "Special Report." Krauthammer went on to say, "he himself said openly he would veto any debt ceiling extension that wasn't long enough to get him into 2013. He was going to veto it over the length, which incidentally turns out to be, as you point out irrelevant. He got what what he wanted on length and we still got the downgrade." American citizens clearly want and need a president that the world respects, a president Read more

Astro-Turf this Nancy and other Myths about the Tea Party Movement

I think we can assume that Nancy Pelosi and the San Fransico  progressives are the poster children for out of touch.  Instead of reaching out, she insulted concerned citizens.  This is why Nancy Pelosi had an 8% approval rating among Independents.  The GOP added minorities to its party.  Retired Col.  West won his race and State Rep. Tim Scott represent deep south districts in Florida and South Carolina in Congress.   Both were tea party favorites.  The GOP also added several  Hispanics to Congress.  There are two Indian American governors and both of them are Republican.  Governor elect Martinez in New Mexico is a Republican.  Which party has a minority in the U. S. Senate?  You guessed it.  Marco Rubio is a tea party favorite.  The same is true at the state level where the GOP gained around 700 seats and up to 20 chambers.  The tea party movement has been great Read more

Tea Party Federation Expels Tea Party Express

The Colored People's letter to Lincoln, which this blog condemned , resulted in a request from the Tea Party Federation --the national umbrella group of 82 Tea Party groups-- to discipline Mark Williams of the Tea Party.  Tea Party Express refused and has been expelled immediately. Sarcasm alert.  The action was immediately hailed by liberal groups all across America.  Back to reality. The NAACP did issue a response.  They called the turn of events a positive first step and immediately issued a series of demands. BALTIMORE, MD) NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous issued the following statement today after learning that the National Federation of Tea Parties had expelled both Mark Williams and the Tea Party Express. “Williams’ recent letter, in which he reiterated a litany of offensive racist stereotypes against African Americans and called Abraham Lincoln a "racist" Read more

Comment Rescue–“An idiot”: Mark Williams of Tea Party Express writes a letter to Lincoln

As for Mark Williams attempt a satirizing the NAACP, he didn’t show himself to be a racist. He showed himself to be a blithering, insensitive, Jack Ass who has no place in leadership of a broad based people’s movement. In attempting to make some sort of point that the NAACP is embracing a new type of slavery and forgoing the hard earned freedom of yesteryear, he managed to insult people who would agree with him and show how out of touch he is with modern day Americans. The NAACP looked foolish and it was quite frankly an embarrassing episode. Now Williams makes the Tea Party look equally petty and foolish and himself look like an idiot. The Tea Party movement is a diverse coalition of groups with no national leadership. As we see, that is a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that it can’t be pigeon holed by one guy. The curse is that any self appointed ego maniac with an email Read more

Goodbye General Assembly

There was a send off of our legislative leaders by the Patriot and Tea Party movement.  There was definitely some disappointment with the fact that Senator Bonini best highlighted, the state government increased spending by an amount equal to the "temporary" tax hikes.  The other star seemed to be Republican Glen Urquhart who was quoted in all of the papers.  He highlighted the concerns of expansive government as well as anyone at both the state and federal level.   He related well to the crowd with a personal rags to riches story and his dedication to resecuring the American Dream.  Not to be out done Michele Rollins told her own story of being the grandchildren of immigrants and blasted Obama Care in a well delivered speech.  Other candidates spokes as well. Rose Izzo spoke to the everyday citizen who is concerned about kitchen table issues. State Senate candidate Dave Read more

GOP Must Wake Up and Smell the TEA

There are lessons for the Delaware as well as the national GOP leadership within the linked piece. I part ways with the author on some of his comments, including his belief that possible extremist Tea Party leadership is in the offing, but I believe much of his piece is right on. I do think he’s right to say the Republican Party, if it does not adhere to the principles it has articulated and professes to stand by in its platform, may not get a third chance past the November 2010 election. A third party may be the result if the GOP avoids reforms propounded by Tea Partiers. See the American Thinker

My Word on the Tea Party Movement

Everyone wants a piece of it.  The profiteers, the cooks, and the power hungry opportunists are all trying to get in on the movement.  It is ripe for it because they had no leader.  It is a purely organic movement.  It started under Ron Paul's campaign and has continued to grow fueled by the socialism running the show.    On the otherside are the establishment critics who want to diminish and destroy the movement in its infancy because it is the greatest threat to the statists on both sides of the aisle since Charles Lindberg and the America First movement or the McCarthy takedown of communists in American government and society.  The establishment is trying to destroy this movement just like it did those.  Two differences existed with those movements and this one.  Those movements made fatal mistakes.  The later was too tied to one man and his strengths and weaknesses.  The former Read more

Salute to Tea Parties and the “Vote Heard Round the World”

Guest Post--Glen Urquhart     On "Tax Day," I salute the Tea Party movement.  And all those new American patriots --with or without a label  -- sacrificing again for liberty. "Tea Parties" are about being "America, Again." About avoiding the elitist decline into European socialism. About liberty, not subservience. About restoring the American Dream.     The Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773 was a tiny protest over a tiny tax. Yet it led to Lexington.  British forces tried to enforce their taxes.  At Concord, pastors, farmers and merchants met the Delta Force of that day. They drove them back with the "shot heard round the world."       Grass roots action fired up the courage of millions, as ordinary folks carried the brunt of the battle.  Well-read leaders inspired and organized, and later articulated liberty in the Declaration and Constitution.  They risked their Read more

Release on Wilmington Tea Party

The Wilmington Tax Day Tea Party will again take place at the Riverfront on 15 April from 4-7 PM. As I said last year, the event is not a protest against anyone or any political party but a celebration of Freedom, Liberty and Opportunity. These principles are what makes our great nation superior to all others because it is impossible to collectivise risk and individualize achievement. Simply put, the individual and not the government is the source of our greatness.   We believe our country is not to be judged by the size of our government spending but the sum of our individual accomplishments and protecting equal opportunity is superior to the flawed goal of trying to assure equal things to all people.   At our event we will have speakers of all backgrounds who are hopeful about the future but ever vigilant of the present.. We will have business owners, blue collar workers, Moms, students Read more

From the Right and the Left

Sometimes being in the middle brings people together if to attack you. From the right and the left,  Congressman Castle seems to be under attack due to his erratic record.  Delaware Democrats have bench Mike Castle there was a site called Thank you Mike Castle which encouraged him to retire, and Mark Levin's blog is typical of conservative sites. Our own Frank Knotts founded R.A.C.E.(Republicans against Castle's Election). The good news for the Congressman seems to be that voting is not limited to the political cyber world. He leads all polls currently. The question is can he avoid self inflicted errors. If he doesn't, there is a skilled PR expert waiting in the wings. Many Conservatives have victory nationally in their sites and would rather not have to think about a come from behind strategy in Delaware. Mr. Castle would be senator for 4 years while we build the party and get a conservative Read more

Tea Party 48% Obama 44%

Who represents the views and values of Americans? If the choice is the ruling regime or the Tea Party, Americans choose the Tea party. Since we are in the glow of Holy week, we will not gloat. Counseling is available for liberals negatively affected by this poll. My Tea Party friends, now is not the time to back off. It is the time to step up. Please post your events in Delaware, PA, Maryland, and New Jersey on this thread and I will collect them and do a proper post. You can also email me at depolitics@gmail.com. As a personal note, does Rush Limbaugh read this blog? First the Castle town hall meeting, and now he is using regime. On major issues, 48% of voters say that the average Tea Party member is closer to their views than President Barack Obama. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 44% hold the opposite view and believe the president’s Read more

Proving Our Point

The tea party movement is more popular than the GOP. Tim, Frank, and I have been making a point for months that the GOP needs to get back to Constitutional, common sense conservatism or it may be in jeopardy. This poll proves the point. It should also be a warning to third party movement that we both lose if we don't work together. Look at these stunning numbers in the link and comment. Running under the Tea Party brand may be better in congressional races than being a Republican. In a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided. Read more

The trip–Hey Michelle, we came–Conversation with Senator Carper

Thousands and thousands (including hundreds from Delaware) came to a house call at the people's house.  The diagnosis was kill the bill.   The crowd had a lot of interesting signs.  My favorite was if you can't read the bill, read the Constitution.    Congresswoman Michelle Bachman,Congressman Wilson, and actor John Voight fired up the crowd.  They called for rejecting the bill and embracing our founder's values.  Congressman Wilson celebrated the victories in VA and NJ. The Delaware Delegation was able to to get a 2:00pm appointment with our senior senator due to the persistence of 9/12 Delaware Patriot Founder Russ Murphy and supporting calls from others. We were told that we would meet with health care advisor, Ms. Lynn Shaw. Right before the meeting the Senator entered and was greeted by mild cheers and applause. The Senator decided to listen to us first. Donna outlined Read more
