Gun Control has little to do with crime control, but concealed carry is the most effective anti-crime gun law according to recent reports. Here is what does work, background checks/buyer screening, regulation of dealers, stricter penalties for committing crimes with guns, and easier concealed carry for law abiding citizens. It is not guns that are a problem or even how many people own them or how many guns. It is guns in the hands of criminals and a lack of them in the hands of the law abiding that are the issue. If you want less crime, have more probation/parole searches with the police, monitor those who are criminals and violate them if they do not obey the law. Put people away who commit felonies with guns. Do not bother law abiding citizens.
WASHINGTON – Today, on the first day for bills to be introduced in the 113th Congress, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) announced his intention to cosponsor legislation authored by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) aimed at reducing gun violence. The bill, the Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act, would ban high-capacity ammunition magazines holding more than ten rounds and is a component of the gun safety proposal put forth by President Obama and Vice President Biden. "I'm a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, but I also believe we must take common sense steps to reduce gun violence," Sen. Carper said. "Last week, President Obama and Vice President Biden outlined a comprehensive list of straightforward proposals, including a reinstatement of the ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines that existed from 1994 through 2004. These military-style magazines have been used in mass Read more
President Bush decided to use the momentum gained from his reelection on a big idea, Social Security Reform. It was an idea though popular among the young, was never going to see movement among Democrats and divided some in his own party. He made road shows, but just ended up spending political capital that would have been better served on tax reform or balancing the budget through elimination of duplication. Why is President Obama spending his political capital on gun control where he divides his own party and unites the opposition. He will never get a proposal that bans guns through the Republican led House and if he forces the Senate to vote on it, he will either fail or endanger red state senators. He could very well hand over the senate next year. One has to wonder what is he thinking? Could this be the unforced error that the Republicans need? Watch the latest video Read more
According to reports from cnsnews.com, the number of the nation's sheriffs that have refused to enforce unconstitutional gun laws has snowballed recently. Many law enforcement officials have written letters to President Obama and Vice President Biden voicing their concerns over what they believe in an effort to infringe upon the Second Amendment. In New Mexico, 30 of the state's 33 county sheriffs have reminded state lawmakers that they are under oath to support the U.S. Constitution, and that includes the Second Amendment. 28 out of 29 sheriffs in Utah, sent a letter to President Obama stating that they will not enforce any new gun laws they believe to be unconstitutional. Many of Oregon's sheriffs have said they will not comply with any new unconstitutional gun regulations. This action recently taken by many of the nation's sheriffs is gaining speed daily. Before noon at Dover’s Modern Maturity Center, in the hall where the Second Amendment Freedom Rally met, it was filled to capacity and overflowing. People from all of Delaware and surrounding states, packed the place well before the meeting actually started at 1pm. The 9-12 Delaware patriot Organization set up at the door for sign-up with many items for sale, including a T-shirt with a hand-gun on a flag emblazoned with the slogan written in Greek that says “Come and Take it.” 1200 people were expected but the main hall was filled by 12:15pm and the overflow hall started to fill. I stopped counting at 1400 in attendance. Legislators present included, Rep .John Atkins, Rep. Ruth Briggs King, Rep. Harvey Kenton, Rep. Bobby Outen, Rep. Danny Short, Rep. Jack Peterman, Rep Jeff Spiegelman, Rep. Dave Wilson, Rep Steve Smyk, Rep. Ramon and Sen. Dave Lawson. Delaware GOP Chairman Read more
Maybe the New York General Assembly wanted Police to lead by example when they banned clips above 7 bullets and forgot to exempt the police. After all, I am sure the criminals would go to lower clips voluntarily so they did not have an unfair advantage. What likely happened is in the rush to pass something before the public could study it, they passed a poorly crafted bill. Take a lesson from this my friends. Today, Marylanders rallied in support of their liberties and Delawareans will do so in Dover tomorrow. A Stealth federal citizen disarmament bill was introduced in Congress. H. R. 226 the “Support Assault Firearms Elimination and Reduction for our Streets Act,” would give tax credits for voluntarily turning guns into the government. For those who like a little humor or are new to the detailed arguments of the gun control debate, here is a funny video. It is great to Read more
Republican Senator, Ted Cruz said President Barack Obama is "exploiting the murder of children" to push an extreme anti-gun agenda that much of the country opposes. Cruz told Laura Ingraham on her radio show that Obama was "high on his own power," and that Democrats overall would pay a political price for the president's crackdown on citizens that have not broken laws and are only exercising their constitutional rights. "There have got to be some Democrats who are up for reelection in 2014 who are very very nervous right now that President Obama is picking this fight," Cruz said. In the president's address to the nation, he used scripted testimony from letters of children he claims to have received, to gain sympathy for his execution of the executive orders he signed earlier this week, while a TV camera panned the children live for the nation. Later in the week the White House condemned Read more
The Second Amendment to the Constitution was written by James Madison, who became a member of the Philadelphia Constitutional Convention in 1787. It was presented to the House of Representatives in Congress on June 8th 1797, and ratified on December 15th 1791. It was one of a total of 10 amendments drafted by Madison, who is often known as the father of the Bill of Rights, as well as being called the father of the Constitution, for his work on the Constitution with Alexander Hamilton and John Jay. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. In 2008 and 2010, the Supreme Court issued two landmark decisions officially establishing this interpretation. In District of Columbia v. Heller, the court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, Read more
According to a Newsmax report, former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III, declared in an exclusive Newsmax TV interview that President Obama could be impeached if he bypassed Congress and enacted gun-control legislation by executive order. “It would not be legal. It would not be constitutional,” said Meese, “and indeed, if he tried to override the Second Amendment in any way, I believe it would be an impeachable offense. Obama stated in a White House interview that he could regulate gun-control regulations by Executive order, without Congressional approval, to confront gun violence in America. http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/meese-obama-guns-impeachable/2013/01/14/id/471412?s=al&promo_code=11F25-1
While Governor Markell received the support of his Lt. Governor Matt Denn, and Attorney General Biden, gun rights advocates panned his plan as a violation of the Delaware Constitution. The proposals to address gun safety issues in the First State in the wake of the Connecticut tragedy drew harsh criticism from the National Rifle Association, yet they drew praise from the Delaware State Education Association, the state's largest teachers' union. Markell, Denn and Biden were joined by Delaware Secretary of Safety and Homeland Security Lew Schiliro, members of the General Assembly, police officers and members of the faith-based community for the unveiling of the gun safety legislation at the Carvel State Office Building in Wilmington. "The gun safety measures we are proposing will strengthen our ability to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have them," Markell said. "No Read more
President Obama said on Monday that he hasn’t ruled out executive action to make new regulations against guns. “I’m confident that there are some steps we could take that don’t require legislation, that are within my power,” Obama said at a White House press conference. Obama added that he would he would be receiving recommendations on possible steps to reduce gun violence from Vice President Joe Biden’s task force today, and that he would make those public later this week. He said that stronger background checks and control of high-capacity magazine clips and a ban on assault weapons were proposals that he believed made sense. Find link to full story on comment #1

White House gun summit a sham Beware politicians and others who attack constitutionally protected individual freedoms. Jan. 10, 2013, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today issued the following statement on today's White House gun summit: "Today's White House gun summit is nothing more than a sham. Vice President Joe Biden's vague threat issued in front of numerous anti-gun groups that Obama would bypass Congress and act using his 'executive' powers reveals that this Administration is not looking at violence, but rather at ways to impose even more restrictions on law-abiding Americans. "The larger danger is that emboldened assaults on the U.S. Constitution and the protections it provides against a tyrannical government are accelerating. A recent opinion piece by a Georgetown law Professor published by the New York Times argues for the wholesale Read more
San Antonio Texas, off duty deputy saved lives. The Delaware Politics Hidden Story of 2012 On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant! Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting? There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the Read more
Databases of legal purchasers, and flags for people who make “frequent” purchasers are exactly what the instant check advocates wanted to avoid. Now the Administration wants to impose these by Executive Order. It is said to be a response to the Fast and the Furious incident. I have a simple idea, why doesn’t the government stop illegal sales instead of focusing on legal ones. I thought that was the lesson from the F & F. I wonder what is the penalty for not purging the lists after two years?
The Federal Government seems to have the tools they need to stop thousands of illegally transported weapons from going to Mexico. It chooses not to use them. Why not? My money says it is so they have an excuse to request more power over law abiding gun owners.

It is a great victory for the fundamental right of self defense.
WASHINGTON (AFP) – The US Supreme Court on Monday struck down a Chicago handgun ban in a landmark ruling that limits state’s gun control laws across the country. With a 5-4 majority ruling, Justice Samuel Alito said the US Constitution protects the right to keep and bear arms “for the purpose of self-defense,” limiting state and local governments’ ability to control guns.
Jo Ann Guidos outside the Kajun Pub For years the liberals who always want to find a way to limit your gun rights have said.” We don’t want to confiscate your guns. We simply want to eliminate violence The government won’t confiscate your guns if you have a legitimate reason for having guns.” Those who have challenged this assessment have been accused of being paranoid nut cases. Of course the areas with the more stringent gun control laws such as Washington D.C., Chicago Illinois, and other big cities have the highest murder rates (you can also equate this with Democrat control of the local government but that is another matter). Now one wonders, if the wonderful Federal Government is not going to confiscate firearms from law abiding citizens how does one explain the case of New Orleans resident and small business owner Jo Ann Guidos. You see Jo Ann Guidos owns Read more
The Maryland Senate passed Senate Bill 411, which is a 411 to criminals that says, for your information, Maryland will no longer allow you to use the civil law suit to persecute people who defend themselves against you. The bill allows anyone attacked in their home to stand their ground and use force to do so without concern of civil liability. This aligns the civil law up with the criminal law’s Castle doctrine. For the sake of your family, your friends, and yourself, call your Delegate and get them to pass Senate Bill 411. Are you fine folks in Delaware watching?
Governor Markell has issued a letter opposing HB 357 the right of law abiding citizens to maintain firearms in public housing. The more law abiding citizens have access to fire arms, the safer society is. Is Switzerland a crime capitol? Did right to carry make 33 states more dangerous? I support the right of people to be safe in when they travel on DART buses or go to a park. A person who is being stalked for instance, does not give up their right to be safe because they choose to take a bus to work or can’t afford a nice house. I urge the governor to reconsider his position.
A bill aptly numbered 357 has been introduced to overturn the Delaware Public Housing Authorities ban on fire arms. According to the bill it would “address the banning of possession of firearms by certain governmental agencies and entities of the State. Currently, several housing agencies in this state have adopted policies of evicting or threatening to evict law-abiding tenants from their homes merely for the otherwise lawful possession of firearms for self-defense. This practice constitutes discrimination based on economic circumstances leaving these residents at the mercy of criminals.” CRI (Caesar Rodney Institute) started this movement with a series of investigative posts.
