This is a tough day for Rahm Emanuel. He is not used to saying day after mother. — President Obama
Deficits mean future tax increases, pure and simple. Deficit spending should be viewed as a tax on future generations, and politicians who create deficits should be exposed as tax hikers. Ron Paul
56% say don’t ask me to pay for your cap and tax proposals. The emphasis should be on creating jobs not preventing global warming which is probably not caused by mankind. Those are the findings of the public mood. One Democrat said passing cap and tax is worth losing his job over. He may get his wish.
Today I found out that my state representative thinks his job is to be the Governor's waterboy: "Part of my job is to carry the water for the governor and it's just that simple." ~ Rep. Pete "The Waterboy" Schwartzkopf We just got out of an election season where John Carney, the former Lt. Governor, and Jack Markell, the State Treasurer at the time, took great pains to articulate that as separately elected officials they were NOT there to "carry the water" for Governor Ruth Ann Minner...yet somehow my separately elected 14th District Representative thinks being Governor Markell's waterboy is HIS job? If you live under a rock, you may not have known that Mike Protack organized the Wilmington Tea Party. WOO HOO! Good for you...except that you've managed to tell many people on your own that you organized it. Usually, that's spread word-of-mouth from other people, but hey, it was still a monumental task and planning events, particularly large events, can be an arduous task, indeed. That last part is genuine. The rest, if you know my attitude towards the pilotician, is not. I am as much as a non-Protack supporter as you can imagine (which you should know before reading the rest of this post), after having once been in 2006, including my contribution to his then-campaign. Again, in fairness, before continuing further, if you don't know by now, the Pilotician and myself have zero love-loss for each other. The only person lower on the Pilotician's totem pole may be Dave B, but Read more
What does delawaredem think of anybody that is a Republican? ...I will always hate any and all Republicans... While I am parsing his overall post, that line comes from a person whose career depends on his ability to parse others' words and carefully choose his own. Therefore, I hold him to a standard that his intent is more literal than many others who blog locally. The above segmented-quote is a small line from a larger, purported-non-political post from him on the seventh anniversary of 9/11. He certainly started off with it being non-political and of spirited opinion, but then took it to partisan heights. Read more
Who Said It? Two quotes, from two different men. The answers are revealed within the comments, with the number after the quote representing the comment number containing the name of the person to whom the quote belongs. The legitimate object of government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done, but cannot do at all, or cannot so well do, for themselves - in their seperate, and individual capacities. In all that the people can individually do as well for themselves, government ought not to interfere. (1) (the Republicans')...goal is not political power for its own sake, but to advance the good of 163 million Americans. To that end, we are dedicated to the maximum of individual freedom, fostered by a government desiring not to dominate but only to serve - a government kept close to the hearthsides of America - a government liberal in dealing with the human Read more
