Widespread Early Jockeying is a new trend in 1st State The political dynamic is going to shift some in Delaware next year. The Governor and Lt. Governor slots will both be open. Matt Denn vacated the Lt. Governor slot to be Attorney General, leaving it open for the next two years. There will be no incumbent in that slot to whom the Governor can transition or who will have the public eye this year. Governor Markell is term limited out of office. Republicans are fresh out off of their momentum gaining 2014 with people already stating their intentions for 2016. Former state trooper Lacey Lafferty is still running for governor, but she is joined by State Senator Colin Bonini. The only Democrat announcing is former Attorney General Beau Biden, but the New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon seems to be making moves and others are preparing the ground for Congressman John Carney just in Read more
Congressional candidate Rose Izzo gives a message of hope to rally women to make a change. “It is high time Delaware sends a woman to the job that a man has been messing up all of this time”, proclaimed Izzo.
Republican Rose Izzo Endorses Alex Pires for Delaware's US Senate Seat United States House of Representatives candidate from Delaware and Republican Rose Izzo endorsed United States Senate candidate Alex Pires today, telling voters that the most important thing right now is fixing things in Washington. Izzo states, "I am a Republican who cares about the long-term future of Delaware more than how this election affects my party. I am endorsing Alex Pires for the office of US Senate from Delaware because this state needs to rid itself of these professional politicians once and for all. I am voting for Alex because he will be more than just a breath of fresh air in Washington- he will be a lightning rod for change. News Release NRA GIVES ROSE IZZO HIGH MARKS The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund has given Rose Izzo high marks for her solid support of the right to keep and bear arms. On September 6, 2012 James J. Baker NRA Director of Federal Affairs confirmed that Izzo has received an “AQ” rating for her candidacy in the Republican Primary election in Delaware. An “AQ” rating is given to solidly pro-second amendment candidates. “I am thrilled to receive this recognition from the National Rifle Association. I believe that a citizen’s right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental constitutional liberty. In Congress I will fight any attempt to infringe on the right of Americans to keep and carry arms to protect themselves, their homes and their families” said Izzo.” “This NRA rating once again shows the sharp contrast between me and Read more
Some of you may think it wild that these pages have competing endorsement. I think it is great. The vision for this blog is to spur thought and discussion not to be a monolithic echo chamber. I love the fact that we debate based upon the principles of liberty, conservatism, fitness for office, and electability. I would be disappointed if the day comes where we do not feel free to say what we believe and back who we want. Just remember the views of the contributors are their own and reflect their personal point of view. I am not bound by their endorsements though I at one point I likely agree with all of them. So two weeks out, I will end the speculation. My views are my personal views not that of Delaware Politics. Do I support dumping Gary Simpson? No. He isn't perfect, but I am not enamored with his opponent who seems to have gone from a thoughtful advocate to a bomb thrower. Read more
Does Rose Izzo finally have an issue to gain traction in the race with Tom Kovach or is it background noise? You decide.
I had the pleasure of meeting GOP candidate for U.S. Representative from Delaware, Rose Izzo, last night at the Sussex County GOP monthly meeting. I have to say that I was impressed with her passion for what needs to be fixed in D.C.. She is "just" an average house wife, at least that is how her opponents have painted her. But maybe "just" a housewife is exactly what we need in Washington. Maybe we have had enough of career politicians and so-called business men, maybe what we need is the citizen representation that this nation was founded upon. Ms. Izzo will first have to survive a GOP primary against Tom Kovach, former Delaware state representative, former New castle County President and an attorney. Now nothing against Mr. Kovach, but I am not sure that we need more attorneys in D.C.. I found Rose Izzo to be open and genuine, and I appreciate that she Read more

There was a send off of our legislative leaders by the Patriot and Tea Party movement. There was definitely some disappointment with the fact that Senator Bonini best highlighted, the state government increased spending by an amount equal to the "temporary" tax hikes. The other star seemed to be Republican Glen Urquhart who was quoted in all of the papers. He highlighted the concerns of expansive government as well as anyone at both the state and federal level. He related well to the crowd with a personal rags to riches story and his dedication to resecuring the American Dream. Not to be out done Michele Rollins told her own story of being the grandchildren of immigrants and blasted Obama Care in a well delivered speech. Other candidates spokes as well. Rose Izzo spoke to the everyday citizen who is concerned about kitchen table issues. State Senate candidate Dave Read more
Rose Izzo Becomes an Official Candidate Rose Izzo (R-DE) is a fiscal conservative who filed with the state of Delaware in order to become an official candidate for the United States House of Representatives. Rose was dedicated to raising the $3480 filing fee required for running in this race; therefore, she held yard sales, bake sales, and received money through online donations. Rose created tremendous value for her community, and she consecutively earned the trust of many of Delaware’s citizens. Rose is a wife and a mother who knows what it costs to put food on the table in this bad economy. "As I travel from one end of the state of Delaware to the other, I hear many important issues that are concerning our citizens, like the number of business closing down, the increasing number of jobs being lost, and how Washington continues to spend our hard earned money." The Newark Region had a debate and straw poll on the preference for House. The result is Urquhart 63, Rollins 40, Wade 39, and Izzo 3. Urquhart wins outside of his region. That is significant. UPDATE: Official Reaction from the Urquhart Campaign Urquhart Wins Newark Straw Poll It was Glen Urquhart sweeping the overall vote with 44-percent of the vote at the Newark debate and straw poll Monday, May 3. “It shows we have a campaign that resonates throughout the state,” said Urquhart after the results were announced amidst the standing room only crowd at the Newark Region meeting. More than 150 people, the majority from the Newark Region, came to hear Glen speak along with other Republican candidates for Delaware’s lone Congressional seat. A comment on the Izzo article has generated a lot of feedback. The comment said Kent and Sussex GOP chairmen have ignored Mrs. Izzo. I did not see that portrayed in the press release and do not believe it is true. I believe a misunderstanding is afoot and seek to clarify it without reflection on any of the parties. Sussex Chairman Ron Sams has sent me some emails which include date headers to show that he invited Mrs. Izzo back in March to the April meeting. She had to cancel due to a family situation. The HartleyDebate also tried to issue an invitation a month before the debate, but for some reason an apparent mix up kept her from getting it which is why they invited her at the Tax Day Rally and sent a second invitation which was late in the game. Some people wondered if I was giving the party too much credit. The evidence says maybe not enough. If anyone doubts it, I will share with Read more
Oh my: Candidate ROSE IZZO not invited..... Again Late Monday night a supporter of candidate Rose Izzo notified her campaign about an email being circulated by a Mr. Keith Johnson. In the email Mr. Johnson talks about a candidates forum that will be held Monday night at Jack Clark's in Greenwood. He says all of the candidates will attend and I think it will let us see the contrast between the all of the candidates. Mr. Johnson did not send an invitation to candidate Rose Izzo. "Once again I am saddened and disappointed that a candidate with the credentials and experience to represent Delaware in Congress was not asked to participate." Rose Izzo said, late Monday night. Rose Izzo said, "This would have been a great opportunity for the members of the Republican party to hear the views of all of the candidates on the issues. I would have presented a refreshing and different Read more
We need to make sure that we engage this lady. People like her are not just the future of the party but of the state. Rose Izzo has more where this comes from. If this Congress thing doesn’t work out, I hope she goes for state office in the future.
