Castle, Coons, and O’Donnell
Mar 25th, 2010 by David Anderson
This is an interesting article on where they stand in the aftermath of the Health deform Law. I am always struck by the lack of leadership by Congressman Castle even when he comes down on the right side of the issue. He is right that repeal is hopeless this year. I do not care if he signs on or not. The key is where do we go from here. That is what I am not hearing. He may be saving it for later so do not jump to conclusions. His statement, published on our site Monday, was a very cogent analysis of the problems of the bill. It showed sound reasoning. Now we need that applied to the future.
All we need to know about Chris Coons is that he won’t talk to the paper, won’t post a statement on his website, sent this out which was posted on Delaware Liberal. I still am awaiting a copy to be posted or emailed to me. I will post its text below the fold. All you really need to know is that he would have proudly supported it. That is enough of a reason to vote for the Republican nominee in November whether Castle or O’Donnell.
Christine O’Donnell is signed on to repeal and replace. She is one of 200 candidates who have signed the Club for Growth pledge to support repealing this bill. I have a statement from her which is also below the fold.
Study the candidates. Issues matter most.
Congress made history Sunday night, adopting landmark health care reform critical for our nation’s economic future and the well being of its citizens.
It’s great news for the more than 100,000 Delaware residents who are uninsured and the 70,000 Delaware residents who will qualify for tax credits to help them afford the health insurance they need.
The bill passed Sunday night will also give 140,000 Delaware seniors access to free preventive care while lowering prescription drug costs for 25,000 seniors on a fixed income.
That’s why I proudly would have voted “yes” on health care reform.
It is disappointing that every single Republican in the House and Senate voted against these significant reforms, including Delaware’s Congressman Castle.
This was fundamentally about whose side are you on. I listened to the AARP, which endorsed this because it was good for seniors. I listened to the doctors and nurses, who endorsed this because it’s good for patients. Congressional Republicans sided with the insurance companies, who opposed this bill. I’m proud to stand with the AARP, doctors and nurses, instead of the insurance companies.
How would you have voted on health care reform? I’m interested to hear what you think and learn how you’ve been affected by the existing health insurance system.
More than a year and hundreds of proposed amendments after the effort began, President Obama signed this critical legislation today. I agree with the President that the legislation isn’t perfect, but we as a nation simply could not afford to wait any longer to make things better. All progress starts with one step forward, and last night, Congress took a big one toward a stronger economy and healthier public.
Will you share your opinion about health care reform and tell me how you’ve been affected by the current health insurance system?
Delaware needs a Senator who will stand with his constituents, not with his party. That’s why I’m running for the U.S. Senate — to make sure we continue to have a strong progressive voice in Washington committed to moving our state and our country forward.
Sincerely,
Chris
ObamaCare is an abomination that will damage the health – and threaten the lives — of every American. In the US Senate, I will fight to repeal this destructive, cynical legislation.
The health bill fiasco symbolizes everything that’s wrong with the business-as-usual group of career politicians in Washington.
Every poll shows the American people despise ObamaCare and are disgusted by Congress’ reliance on corrupt backroom deals and legislative tricks. Whatever happened to “the consent of the governed?”
This government takeover of healthcare rips $500 BILLION out of Medicare . . . and transfers the money to liberals’ favored groups. The Medicare cuts will harm every American senior, and will produce inferior care and rationing.
In Article 1, Section 8 of our Constitution, it tells exactly what powers Congress has. One of those powers is not mandating that every American buy health insurance.
A leftist House member said over the weekend that “We [Congress] make up the rules as we go along.” So much for the rule of law.
Congressional liberals are trampling on our Constitution . . . and turning us from a free people into a nation dependent on an all-powerful federal government.
That is not what our forefathers fought and died for.
ObamaCare will cripple states like Delaware. It will cause Medicaid costs to spiral totally out of control.
Medicaid is already a failed system, a system which is bankrupting states like ours, and ObamaCare will transform Medicaid costs from a crisis into a financial catastrophe.
Who will fight the madness now going on in the House and Senate? It won’t be my liberal primary opponent, RINO Mike Castle.
In his time in Congress, Castle has basically waved a white flag in the face of the federal government’s seizure of our liberties… and its chronic wasting of our money.
I won’t go to the US Senate to “get along”; unlike Castle, I won’t ever be a charter member of the “Beltway Gang” of big spenders.
I pledge to safeguard our liberties. I pledge to confront the socialists now threatening our American way of life. And I pledge, once again, to fight to repeal ObamaCare.
To do so, I need your support and your financial assistance. Please join me. Together, we can save our beloved country.
God Bless,
Christine Signature

And of course out comes the request for money.
Doesn’t everyone?
Not when they are issuing a press release about Health Care Reform.
Neither Coons or O’Donnell issued a release. It was a statement to friends and supporters. Coons is actually trolling for stories in his. It even had a link but it didn’t transfer.
So Coons is for Obama care. O’Donnell is against it. And Castle voted against it.
