Did anyone see the video of Sen. Burris running from the Fox interviewer? Burris must think that the U.S. is an oligarchy; he's so used to the compliant 'liberal' Chicago press that he believes his votes are beyond scrutiny, or even question.

It is incredible to me that someone so patently evasive and pathetically stupid can serve in the U.S. Senate.

What did you all think of Bertha Lewis today on Fox News Sunday? It will replay if you missed it.

She wants to bring reform to ACORN now. Maybe she shouldn't have ignored the ACORN 8 and shunned those who were pushing for reform 1 and 2 years ago. Sometimes a crisis focuses the mind, we shall see if this is more than talk. I think the Congress should look to ACORN8, faith based groups, and other local organizations without the overhead and history of corruption as a conduit for its grants.

Some people take election fraud seriously but others see it as a way of life. The essential effort of vote fraud is a reservoir of names that can be used to cast 'supplementary ballots', even after the polls are formally closed.

Such trickery may seem ludicrous to voters in suburbia, where there are real Democrats and Republicans working as election officials. But what of those precincts where the 'minority party' representatives have 'registrations of convenience' and loyal to a corrupt political machine. Such polling places are often in venues that are avoided by watcher. There may even be thugs present to keep observers away from the action.

The names of the 'ghost voters' are not taken from tombstones as some may claim. This would be too easy to detect from accessible data bases. The 'ghost voters' are names that are placed on the rolls and left their. This is a very old game and those who may profit from election theft will resist any effort to purge the lists.

ACORN workers who submitted false names may have been trying to make their quotas but spurious names on voter rolls are an essential tool for wholesale vote fraud.

The people running ACORN are less than savory types and their motives are far from altruistic.

Perry ... "Certainly sub-prime lenders took advantage of minorities, a fact that we all know well, including poor people in general who saw an opportunity to buy a house without having to produce normally essential documentation."

Never would have happened if the Democrats hadn't blackmailed the banks and lenders to make these questionable loans possible.

This is what passes for a defense. "Indeed, the indignation of the congressional Republicans screaming about ACORN and the phony streetwalker is diluted by the presence of at least two confirmed prostitution clients — Rep. Ken Calvert and Sen. David Vitter — in their midst."

In case you haven't noticed, this was not about ACORN folks setting up a visit to a prostitute. Without being patronizing, let me explain the issue carefully.

Setting up a prostitution business does not qualify for a microloan in the jurisdictions tested. The ACORN employees in order to get their quota, decided to conspire to commit fraud to obtain federal funds. When told that the clients intended to violate international treaties and set up a child sex slave ring, they advised them on how to cover it up. That is a potential felony except for the fact that it was not real. Being a prostitute or patronizing one is a minor crime and in some jurisdictions not one at all. That was not the issue.

Defrauding the government to obtain funds to set up an international crime syndicate which exploits minor children is a feloneous activity. In fact it contains multiple felonies. It is a RICO violation. Do you see the problem?

How you can seriously compare sex between consenting adults with an international child sex slavery syndicate is beyond me. It seems a bit warped.

<i>"ACORN was targeted by Karl Rove in 2004 for political reasons due to ACORN’s success with registering minorities..."</i>

They were successful in registering many of them several times...including the dead.

How anyone can defend the corrupt maggots of ACORN is beyond me. Luckily, ACORN will 'anchor' the Dems in '10. Thanks, idiots.

<a href="http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/09/17/acorn_hysteria/index.html" rel="nofollow">It's time to add a little perspective to the ACORN story, a perspective that would not occur to the likes of Tennessee Walker!</a>

<blockquote>Earlier this week, I wrote about how the Fox-News/Glenn-Beck/Rush-Limbaugh leadership trains its protesting followers to focus the vast bulk of their resentment and anxieties on largely powerless and downtrodden factions, while ignoring, and even revering, the outright pillaging by virtually omnipotent corporate interests that own and control their Government (and, not coincidentally, Fox News). It's hard to imagine a more perfectly illustrative example of all of that than the hysterical furor over ACORN.

ACORN has received a grand total of $53 million in federal funds over the last 15 years -- an average of $3.5 million per year. Meanwhile, not millions, not billions, but trillions of dollars of public funds have been, in the last year alone, transferred to or otherwise used for the benefit of Wall Street. Billions of dollars in American taxpayer money vanished into thin air, eaten by private contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan, led by Halliburton subsidiary KBR. All of those corporate interests employ armies of lobbyists and bottomless donor activities that ensure they dominate our legislative and regulatory processes, and to be extra certain, the revolving door between industry and government is more prolific than ever, with key corporate officials constantly ending up occupying the government positions with the most influence over those industries.

Exactly as one would expect, the prime beneficiaries of all of that pillaging continue to grow. The banks that almost brought the world economy to collapse but then received massive public largesse because they were "too big to fail" are now bigger than ever; as The Washington Post delicately put it: "The crisis may be turning out very well for many of the behemoths that dominate U.S. finance." Everything involving the government turns out well for these "behemoths" because they own and control the U.S. Government. Just this week, The Post detailed how the government and Wall St. are now so intertwined that banking executives are spending vast resources to increase their presence in Washington:</blockquote>

Now pay attention, Tennessee!

<a href="http://www.salon.com/opinion/conason/2009/09/18/acorn/" rel="nofollow">Here is a defense of ACORN provided especially for Tennessee Walker:</a>

<blockquote>To claim that the stupid behavior of a half-dozen employees should discredit a national group with offices in more than 75 cities staffed by many thousands of employees and volunteers is like saying that Mark Sanford or John Ensign have discredited every Republican governor or senator. Indeed, the indignation of the congressional Republicans screaming about ACORN and the phony streetwalker is diluted by the presence of at least two confirmed prostitution clients -- Rep. Ken Calvert and Sen. David Vitter -- in their midst. Neither of those right-wing johns has been even mildly chastised by their moralistic peers. Nobody is cutting off their federal funding.

ACORN has pledged to institute reforms, with the appointment of a distinguished outside panel to oversee that process. Let us hope they succeed. Even now they seem far more likely to improve their performance -- and to be more sincere in their intentions -- than the Washington hypocrites who are trying to destroy them.</blockquote>

I could not agree more!

Read the entire piece, Tennessee.

David, because some race-card player named Alex B. claims that I played the race-card does not mean I did. In fact, I did not.

Certainly sub-prime lenders took advantage of minorities, a fact that we all know well, including poor people in general who saw an opportunity to buy a house without having to produce normally essential documentation.

My point is that ACORN has been in the forefront in trying to help these people reconfigure their mortgages so that they can stay in their homes. Alex B., for political purposes, and in an effort to defame me, has tried to twist my words in a way they were not meant. And David, you bit on his bait! Shame on you, Alex, for behaving like a typical right wing radical!

My other point is that you folks are overlooking the good that ACORN has done in 40 years of existence, as the demonization attempts by you right wingers continues unabated. Again, tune in to the Chris Wallace show on FoxNews this Sunday for his interview of Bertha Lewis, so you can judge for yourselves instead of just going on input from the real racists, your leaders, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. Why aren't you folks calling them out? How can you folks stand the utter hatred that comes out of their mouths on a daily basis?

On your contention that ACORN acts as an "unnecessary pass through organization", David, I don't understand what you mean by that charge.

Retaliation I see. I hate when the racist card gets played. I hated it when Perry did it and I hate it now. That is just my opinion.

I will say that these banks targeted people who felt like no one was on their side. They would give you disclosure documents but then when you go to the table buried in the 50 page contract was junk. You signed about an hundred times. I agree with Perry that some of these sleazy institutions did in fact target minority neighborhoods redlined by other institutions with predatory practices. I think the government needs to force some modifications on these guys or let the trial lawyers go after them for the violations of the fair lending practices law. It is their choice.

As for the rest, I notice that my friend Perry did not address my contention. ACORN is an unnecessary pass through organization. Why should they be the gate keeper of taxpayer money skimming off the top from the people who do great work in the community?
